I cannot recommend Brett enough. Honestly he doesn’t even really need a review because if you head over to his site or blog his work speaks for itself. Photography was the one expense we splurged on for our wedding and it was 100% worth it. We’ve had multiple friends tell us that our engagement and wedding photos are unlike any other photos they’ve seen and that they are works of art. Brett and Mallory are such talented photographers that I truly believe you cannot find a better photography team to capture your day. They are also super down to earth and such friendly easy going people that they’re a delight to have as part of your wedding team and part of your special day. I highly recommend you check out Brett’s site and blog and hire him to capture your engagement photos and wedding. It will be the best decision you make for your wedding day.

It’s rare this day and age to be amazed and let-alone blown away by a service. Brett went above and beyond our expectations in delivering what are some of the most spectacular photos we have ever seen and yeah they also happened to be from our wedding. We found Brett after googling weddings at Solage, Calistoga(the venue for our wedding) and his work popped-up. He had done a wedding there John+Judy and the photos looked incredible – not your typical cheesy wedding photos, but each photo was a masterpiece that collectively told the story of a lifetime event. Images speak more then words so instead of going on and on about how talented Brett is as a photographer as well as fun to work with, I’ll just post a few photos from both our September 8th Rehearsal Dinner(wine cave) and wedding from Solage that Brett captured. Brett shot our engagement photos in September 2010 in San Francisco as well as our wedding weekend this past September in Durango, Colorado. There was and is no one in the world we’d rather have capture the magic of our love and the love of our friends and family throughout the entire experience. Brett’s ability to capture the pure emotion of a moment is unparalleled by any wedding or event photographer I’ve ever seen. 2 minutes on his blog or his website and you’ll know exactly what I mean. He also has an unbelievable way of making you(and everyone else) feel comfortable, so the photos are perfectly candid and not strained or staged. He captures the unexpected and the different, providing so many layers of perspective and memories from the event. Everyone who has seen our wedding photos comment on A. how gorgeous they and B. that they feel like they were there and could experience the emotion and joy of the day through Brett’s pictures. They say life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but instead by the number of moments that take your breath away, and Mr. Butterstein is a master of capturing those moments… and then taking your breath away all over again when you see the photographs when it’s all said and done. If my husband and I could, we would give Brett 10 stars.

Brett shot our wedding back in 2008 and did an amazing job. I would highly recommend him. His style is very laid back, but professional. He was never intrusive, but still managed to capture the best moments at amazing angles and perspectives. I researched a ton of photographers for our wedding, if you look at his sample shots you will see why we selected him. After the wedding, he built a slideshow selecting the best 40 or so shots with music. I actually just sent that to people because it was the right number of photos, they were the best photos, they really captured the essence of the entire day, and guests don’t want to view 400 photos from a wedding. Everyone commented on how awesome the photos were.

Brett and Chris were our photographers for our wedding in Austin in Barr Mansion this past October and we couldn’t be happier with the choice we made. Brett isn’t from Austin and while there are plenty of Austin based photographers we wanted someone with a unique style with a great deal of experience photographing weddings. One of the things Brett told us before our wedding was that he wanted to capture the entire day. While other photographers have complicated packages with varying hours and options, Brett kept it fairly simple. They captured our events in the morning, our preparations, the ceremony, reception and then happily hopped on a bus with us downtown and captured some incredible shots through the night. You really get the feeling that they both really enjoyed being with us and really wanted to capture some great photos. They worked extremely well with our videographers and were very laid back but at the same time constantly looking for that next moment to capture. It took us about 3 weeks to get our photos from Brett after the wedding. Overall, we loved our photos. His strength is really capturing the emotion of the event so there’s not too many cheesy posed pictures but more«in the moment» pictures. Some people like that, some people don’t but for us it worked perfectly because to us the photos tell a much better story. He also makes great use of light(both natural and artificial) to create some really dramatic shots. You really need to see his blog to get an even better idea of his work. Some of his other work is just amazing. Many people were surprised we would import our photographer from out of town but he is really that good.
