I work down the street and have given them a few chances and every time the service is horrible, not to mention the food is never ready when u order to go. Also the manager makes me furious. Today he charged me for a drink and I told him twice I didn’t want a drink. He is very passive aggressive.

Had the best time when I encountered Linda our waitress. She’s such a a sweetheart and she kept coming by to make sure all of our food was perfect. Food got to our table in no time, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Too bad I have to go back home away from this area where I most likely won’t be able to find such a kind soul.

Normally, when I go to certain places, fast food or chain restaurants, I generally try to avoid writing reviews. Most people know(or should know) what they’re getting into when they stop off at McDonald’s for some McNuggets. Still, sometimes you go somewhere that can surprise you … and not in a good way. Coming to Denny’s is generally not the best of ideas. On this day in question, it had been suggested that we go to Coco’s, to which I shrugged my acquiescence. Imagine the joy that entered my being upon finding that the place had been shut down, only to have those feelings crushed upon hearing Denny’s as the next establishment suggested. The food is never really above subpar, but that’s not important; again, people should know what to expect. Eggs are generally burned, all of the sausage tastes like it was frozen, most bread has a light stale hardness to it, and everyone from the patrons to the employees all seem like they don’t really want to be there, like everyone is dealing with the unfathomable pain of having no where else to go or be. The carpets are old, stained, soiled, and wafting of years of parking lot oil and gravel. Table and chairs are old, sticky, and everything creaks and puffs when you sit on it. An old machine takes quarters, giving only the scantest of hopes of winning a stuffed animal way to heavy to be picked up by a claw. And the bathroom, it has this smell, that egg that’s close to rotting smell that hangs about outside the door, around the ‘Slippery When Wet’ sign. In the end, its disgusting. It’s a rundown dive, a trudge through a truck stop under a drizzly, overcast sky. Being next to a hotel, it sees too many people, too much misery, to really keep it cleaner than it is. Denny’s can’t help being what it is. It’s really no fault of their own that they are what they are. When someone has given up, when they’re beyond saving, all you can really do is pity and accept them for what they’ve become. I think that, more than anything, is what keeps me from giving them only 1 star. They aren’t trying to peddle horrible food, they do mean well, they just can’t do anything to climb out of the abyss they dwell in.

Customer service sucks. I got a whole sob story about why my $ 4 meal can’t change the eggs to potatoes. Dude either do it or not. I don’t need a story. Bye

You guys are going to think I am crazy but back East we don’t have Dennys and the 24 hour options are totally overpriced. I for one LOVEDENNY’s. At the moment I am eating the most delicious chicken caesars salad that I have eaten ANYWHERE. The quality of the food may be average… SYSCO I believe(?) but they have everything else down to the wire CORRECT. It’s a diner but the food is really really good. I am not crazy about eating«in» at the Encinitas location. The counter only has 3 places and it is located next to the bathroom. I like DENNY’s that have a huge counter where you can see the kitchen and interact with the staff and other customers. Today I ate breakfast and dinner at Denny’s which is not uncommon for me. Look at my other food reviews… I am a critic ! Go to Denny’s.

A great Denny’s. Super clean, unlike the one where I live. Good atmosphere. Great staff.

Years ago, through my college days of late nights and study sessions, I’ve frequented plenty of Denny’s restaurants. I would usually have average to decent experiences. I came to this Denny’s a few weeks ago. I was up in the area and my group initially tried the Solana Beach Denny’s, but they posted a sign(on their door) saying they were«closed for maintenance.» They did apologize and directed us to the Denny’s in Encinitas. So a few exits later we arrive. I was definitely not impressed with the food or service. Our food was just okay, nothing great. Our server was slow and it took a long time for her to bring us our check. It must have been 15 minutes or more before she brought our check. When we finally received our check, we found that she charged us incorrectly for an add on side salad. She charged us for a «dinner» salad. The person in my group that paid the bill planned on leaving a $ 20 bill(no change). With the error the server would have gotten a $ 2 tip with change. With the correction she would have gotten a $ 4 – 5 tip with change. The person that was treating was way too nice in my opinion. The waitress did fix her error, of course, to get a bigger tip(that she didn’t deserve). Last bad thing about this Denny’s is the bathroom stall door in the men’s restroom. The person that installed this door either has no common sense or didn’t bother to check his work. If there is someone exiting the stall and someone standing at the urinal, the door will victimize the person standing in front of the urinal. So the person in the stall has to wait for the person at the urinal to finish their business or knock them into the urinal. Luckily, it didn’t happen to me, I just noticed the door when I went in to wash my hands(my OCD nature). I was wondering how long this door has been like this and thinking maybe this franchisee /owner just doesn’t care? So… this is a Denny’s I don’t plan on returning to.

Why would someone pay $ 10.00 for a breakfast that they can have at home for $ 1.35? There is one reason: FRIENDLYSERVICE. I had time to kill waiting for traffic to die down so after some trial and error I ended up at Dennys. All I wanted was eggs, potatoes and fruit with some coffee. I was greeted by a waitress with lots of personality. She let me know how much my breakfast would cost and got the order in. She was very friendly and seemed to be having fun doing her job. As simple as the breakfast was it tasted phenomenon! I really want to thank my waitress Bobbi for helping me start off my day great. Good job Dennys.

This Denny’s sucks! Bad management, so unprofessional! Been here a couple times & my food is always cold… Will not be returning. A hispanic manager that works here doesn’t know how to take care of customers…

It was nice and clean. Our server had a great attitude and was helpful in making menu selections for dietary issues. Food was hot and yummy. The only issue we had was with the hostess who was rude. Didn’t seem to care that we were standing there for a while waiting to be sat then she just yelled at us to sit anywhere we like. The next groups behind us were sat nicely by her. I have no idea what we did to offend her but she was rude to us the rest of the time we were there.

Came here at 10:30 am on Saturday and no one was at the front counter for 12 minutes. Then finally someone came to the front, walked us back to the table and we waited over 15 minutes for the server. Finally got up and left. Place was reasonably clean and didn’t seem to be too busy

Yep. I’m writing a review for Denny’s. Oh, how Denny’s has been there for me over the years at 3:00am after a night out of partying. I’ve switched to fast food Mexican at 3:00am so it’s been a while. Decided to check out this location tonight for ‘Breakfast’ for dinner and it was yummy. Those skillets they have are just delicious, hot and fresh. I know, I know it’s Denny’s. It’s not a place I think people plan on eating but for one reason or another you end up here. More than happy with the service and food. Having realistic expectations here helps and I always do.

I must say, I am not a big fan of Denny’s, but after a long night of drinking in downtown Encinitas, the golden Denny’s sign was in the horizon and I couldn’t be more happy to see it! This is a run of the mill store in a great location. Honestly, there is not much that beats a «moons over my hammy» after a couple of drinks. Absolutely hits the spot everytime!

Restaurant was clean, service was great, and food was perfect. The store manager was amazing. Treated us like family and from the sounds of it he did the same with everyone who came in. We’ve never had better service at a restaurant, especially at a Denny’s.

Love this location. I usually come late at night after going out for drinks. Manager is very personable and friendly, has fun conversations with customers. Waiters are patient especially when they have to deal with obnoxious drunk people. This place is definitely a lot better than what it was a few years ago. Only thing I would change is have one more waiter for night shift so the same person doesn’t have to help allllll the tables.

I know dennys is known to be the crappy breakfast spots. but dang! I come when I need a cheap quick fix. I made the mistake by hitting this location!!! Worst experience ever at a Dennys!!! My saussage was rock hard. my bacon seemed as if they cooked it in the microwave. I couldn’t cut my pancakes with a knive? Wtf? Not even sure how that’s possible. Only good thing about this spot was they kept my coffee filled the whole time I was sitting there. Will I be back? Helllll no!!!

I seriously hope this particular Denny’s reads the reviews for here. Staring from the get go, our server took forever to ask us what we wanted to drink. After she finally did, she brought our drinks before the customers before us, AND forgot an orange juice. She didn’t give us enough straws and when we got there, there was only one set of silverware on the table and she never gave us more. I had to get up myself, and take some from another table. As we’re looking through the menus, we notice they are sticky. GROSS! If you notice food on the menus, why not clean it up? As we’re looking for food, we notice my little brothers menu wasn’t very kid friendly. I know it’s not a huge deal, but it’s good to have some entertainment for the kids. Speaking of kids menus, their crayons weren’t very good, either. Our waitress finally comes back and takes our order. My younger brother orders strawberry pancakes and she says they’re «out of strawberries and they only have bananas.» Uhhhh, okay? What kind of breakfast diner doesn’t have strawberries? This place just irritated myself and my family more and more. I won’t ever go back to this Denny’s.

Just your friendly neighborhood Denny’s. Nice, quick service, staffed adequately, clean restaurant, clean bathrooms and the manager came and greeted us and asked how the food was. I really appreciate that, I don’t feel like it happens enough and really added a personal touch!

Just a normal Denny’s, with a parking lot on a bit of a hill, so watch for swinging doors when you step out, because the spots are a bit tight and I’m better hill + tight = door dents for sure. Inside, it was a bit quiet when we ate here, with mostly people of the senior citizen set hanging out on a weekday morning. Staff here was prompt, very polite and friendly and seemed to know several of the seniors by name, so that’s kind of nice to see. I had the All-American Slam as you can’t go wrong cheddar over scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and some toast. They now offer pancake dippers which is something new to us at Denny’s but something my wife’s been making for years. Basically it’s a large hushpuppy made from pancake batter and they provide a cup of syrup to dip it in. Not bad as an appetizer and they, along with our meal, was cooked up promptly. So no complaints here. It’s a Denny’s like you expect it to be: comfortable, decent pricing, and familiar food offerings.
