Lu Meyer’s Encinitas Obedience Academy

We did an agility package with Sharon and a small class over a year or so ago, before we moved from San Diego for a job. The package was nicely priced, we also had a coupon. Her class, agility equipment and grounds were beyond my expectations. Our dog Tater is a little guy, with lots of anxiety issues (a rescue) But boy, he thrived in that class and the agility really gave him something to focus on, a job, for the time that we were there. Sharon kept the class smaller and manageable, which was great. She was able to give attention to each of us when needed. Now that we’re back in San Diego, I wouldn’t mind going another round with Tater there. He always could use the training and something for his energy and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Sharon was knowledgeable, down to earth and great to learn from. Thanks, Sharon!

Where is Sharon? This place is just not the same without her.

See my comments under «Tips». Sharon is magnificent! I doubt there is a dog in the world that she cannot communicate with successfully. Humans should be so attentive.
Sharon would get five stars, but she is gone. So, given the condition of the facility and equipment, the rating must be one star or less.

Enjoyed the classes and was stoked that they allowed my kids to be involved in the training. Very friendly staff.

We love taking our miniature schnauzer to obedience class here! He has learned so much since he was a puppy and is improving everyday. I love how confident he has become because of this wonderful facility and the training he has received. It is a great environment for both doggy and parents alike. THANK YOU!

We have been so happy with Sharon at Lu Meyers. We were getting very frusterated with the training of our new puppy, we got her a little bit older than our last and so it wasn’t going as smoothly. We had tried a trainer out in Escondido and were not really happy with their approach. We called Sharon and she was so willing to help us and give us advice over he phone. We started training with her and have been so happy with the transformation. I feel like our dog is really part of the family now and it has transferred over into the housebreaking end of it. Thank you Sharon for helping us enjoy Stella!

These guys get it. A retired dog trainer myself, I’m impressed with their knowledge of dog behavior, motivation and getting the desired results the best way possible for each individual dog. She’s competent and has a terrific facility that even includes agility equipment. Not only that, but Sharon and Victor are terribly thoughtful and just solid, good people. I highly recommend training your dog with them.

I’m surprised Lu Meyers doesn’t have more reviews. My dog has learned so much from these classes and has gained so much confidence in himself and with me. I first took classes at Petco which was a terrible waste of money. My dog did not learn anything he did not already know and did not leave with any new abilities that I wanted him to have. At the end of every class I wanted to ask for my money back but I just went through it hoping it would get better but it never did. So I was a little weary of taking him to another class, but I tried Lu Meyers and within the first couple classes my dog learned so many new things that I never thought he would be capable of. The teacher is very good at training dogs and has us on our feet the whole time not just lecturing at us like most classes. The dogs learn to do all the basics very easily the way she teaches (sit, stay, down, heel, etc). We also taught our dogs to do things with other dog distractions and she has a lot of equipment for the dogs to do (jumps, balance beams, a frames, tunnels) so they learn how to listen to you and do what you ask them to do and they gain confidence in understanding what you want and how to understand your commands. After only the first couple of classes my dog was doing things I had been trying to train him to do for months and had no luck with in the previous class. He loves the classes. It’s a great set up and definitely worth your money. She also gave us extra classes no charge so you really get your moneys worth. Definitely skip the Petco/​Petsmart classes and come here!

Sharon is absolutely great. She has a law enforcement/​K9 background and is very knowledgeable about all kinds of dogs. The classes are kept small and she provides personal attention to everyone. I really liked her practical approach to training and obedience and would recommend her to anyone.

I am really happy with the training and support we have received at Ly Meyer’s. Sharon was so understanding and knowledgable about our pitbull mix rescue. Our puppy has always been a total sweetheart, but now everyone can see that we take him around town. We have recommended Lu Meyer’s to friends and they have signed on too; even with their older dogs.
