The logistics– $ 150 for residents for the week. Kids can be dropped off as early as 7:00am and picked up as late as 6:00pm. The is BYFAR the best bang for your $$$. Each week, kids take one field trip to a fun local spot(Wave Park, Padre Game, Get Air, etc.) and one field trip to a beach. My review– I am so very impressed with this camp. This is the first full-day camp that my children have attended(9 and 7 year old girls). When I learned that they would be at Moonlight Beach one day, I became a bit nervous, as my kids are decent swimmers, but certainly not capable of being at a beach with semi-attentive young counselors flirting with each other instead of paying attention. When I asked how the children are supervised, I was told that two camp counselors stay far out in the water, another two mid-way out, and two on the shore at all times supervising the kids. Still being a bit over protective, I showed up unannounced to assess the situation. And the counselors were exactly where they said they would be. I felt my kids were completely safe. .. and that is saying a lot, as I tend to border on a bit obsessive(Beverly Goldberg doesn’t have anything on me). Anyway, I clearly recommend this camp. The kids loved every day of it. In fact, they want to sign up another week. AND they complained that I arrived too early every single afternoon(I am really trying not to take this personally. .. it’s a process.) Great job, Encinitas Parks and Rec!

My kids tell me that Seaside camp is a lot of fun, the staff are nice and they like the games and activities. My kids have tried a few other camps, but this one is one of their favorites and they keep asking me to return. From a parent’s perspective, the camp is reasonably priced and kids can be dropped off as early as 7 or 7.30AM and pickup is at 6PM, so it is a good value.

Requested again and again by the kids. What’s better than that? Oh, well, the price is reasonable and the staff is fun, friendly, and professional. No need to worry, as they’re on top of everything. I just wish us big kids could go along on some of the cool field trips they take … water slides, Balboa park, etc.

The Encinitas Parks and Recreation Department runs this camp out of a little clubhouse called the Scout House in the very pretty Glen Park in Cardiff. According to the kids this camp is super fun. The kids ages 6 — 12 engage in daily activities of sports, games, crafts and cooking. There are field trips every week to the beach and other fun places. This camp is a great deal as well usually around $ 130 a week. Encinitas residents generally pay a little less. Book early as the camps sell out. They hold camps during the school breaks as well. .
