I’ve really tried to like this place. Although it see, s the owners have really just upgraded from the lemonade stand they ran as youths. The pizzas are never really cooked thoroughly and they offer plastic utensils to eat with? Who eats salads with plastic forks? Also, the«self-serve» station is always a mess. One time we were in for an early lunch. In the corner ;at the best table) there was a business meeting with the lemonade stand owners(and possibly investors.) after several«stabbing stares» from them, we left and have never returned. The low ratings for this excuse for a pizzeria are accurate.

Come for the pizza and not anything else. We ordered: –Tomato Basil Soup with Breadstick — Tasted like marinara sauce. SKIP! –Side of Walnut Apple Salad — This was a tease. I can make this at home. –Hawaiian Flatbread Pizza(Wheat) — I didn’t care for the ham since it was too salty for me, but the flavor was great! –Shroom and Sausage Flatbread Pizza(Wheat) — My fave since I like mushrooms on my pizza. –Margharita Flatbread Pizza — Another fave since the ingredients are fresh! –Beer –Soda We didn’t think 2 pizzas were enough, and ordered another. We pretty much took home 1 of the pizzas. We didn’t think the flatbreads would fill us up, but they actually served its purpose. The flavors and ingredients are really fresh. There is a TV for watching sporting events and kid friendly. Order first and then you seat yourself. Very cas environment and the service is personable and fast. $ 30 for two people — not a bad dinner!

Wow… Great concept! Great décor! Clean! BUT… I’ll never go back :( First time I went, there was no one in the restaurant and there was breaking news so I asked them to change the channel to the news. Not sorry we’re not allowed to change the channel. Not, only the manager can change it… NO! The answer was… No! I’m watching that! ??? Second visit I pointed out to the manager that my food was burnt… She said«that’s the first time anyone EVER complained about the food… Good Luck on your visit… I give the place a year(maybe)

Nice crispy crust! A great option for lunch– Sized for individual portions. You can choose from a selection of modern, California style pizzas or create your own. We ordered a salad and it was brought out just a few minutes after I ordered. The pizzas followed about 10 minutes later. Everything is priced well so that you can order a lunch without breaking the bank or feed a family for dinner. There is a child size pizza which is just slightly smaller and was perfect to feed my twin preschoolers. It’s kind of tucked away in the multitude of non-descript strip malls along Encinitas– you have to really look for it. But worth it to stop by.

This review is titled: «Punches above it’s weight.» Very pleased, this is a great pizza. Discovered it quite by accident and went in to get pizza for me, my wife and my little guy. Since I’m a pizza snob, I thought I’d just order a straight pepperoni with all the different crust options, so 3 pizzas ordered and going back home. First, the décor and vibe are very nice. Kinda sophisticated industrial, lots of metal, room to sit and relax, and clean restaurant. All good. The service: friendly, and they gave my little guy a free cookie, so brownie points are checked. The pizza. Really good. Now, I really like an artisan crust, flatbread pizza. The standard I measure those by is Serious Pie, a Tom Douglas joint up in Seattle. The Signature Crust pizza was very good, I actually enjoyed it very much. It was light, flaky and doughy with just enough«burn» on the bottom and light and airy. The toppings were great, snappy pepperoni and good quality all around. And your portion size is actually pretty nice. You get a great pie for $ 6.95, and you can add toppings, make your own, and select fresh salad and bread sticks too if you like. Kids meal is a deal for young ones, at $ 4.95 including milk and a cookie. A great value, clean restaurant good service, and SERIOUSLY good pizza in a flatbread style. I strongly recommend this place, and I’m very pleased to have a good pizza option in Encinitas now. Is it a knockout like Zachary’s or Serious Pie? Well… no. But if you stay in the ring for a couple of rounds, you’ll come out with a serious beatdown of goodness, and that’s what counts here. So if you don’t have $ 30 a night to spend on artisan flat bread pizza, but want to feel like you did — go to Stone Flats.

Love this place. A little too inexpensive for what you get; they could definitely charge more, but I’m not complaining. I prefer the standard crust, which rises a bit. But, the flat bread crust is also great. My favorite is the bbq chicken pizza. Last night when I picked my daughter up from United Studios karate, across the parking lot we went in. She ordered the bbq chicken pizza without cheese. I ordered it with cheese. I also had a Pacifico Beer. The pizzas are rectangular and are probably 8 or 9 inches wide by 14″ long. I believe each of them was only $ 6.75’ish. Forgive me if I have it slightly wrong. I only ate ½ of mine and took the rest home. I wholeheartedly recommend this store and wish them success. Skip

Gluten free crust… Is a MUST! Delicious! However it is A $ 2.50 extra cost, which kicks your pizza from under $ 10 to over the $ 10buck mark. The flats are large and decently priced, as well as very filling! They have beer and wine options, not just soda/ Good food, good atmosphere, clean, friendly… Suggest everyone try. Friendly and customer service: while ago they send out an email with a survey asking what toppings people would like to see… and sure enough about a month later they added options. like ham and sun dried tomatoes. Thanks for listening Stone Flats!

Not bad at all! I ordered the sausage and ‘shrooms on gluten free crust and the margarita on the regular crust, with 2 side salads to-go. Both were very tasty but I’d have to say I think I actually liked the gluten free a little better. I love flatbread pizza’s and they were pretty big but the thin crust makes it so it’s not overly filling. The sauce was nicely seasoned and the toppings were tasty they way they dice them up. My only complaint is that the pizzas could have been cooked a little more, next time I’ll ask for well done. The regular crust was similar to a pita bread, slightly spongy in the center, but not bad. And garden salads were lacking, just a bunch of romaine and a few diced tomatoes sprinkled on top. It’s not the best thin crust pizza in the area but it was definitely worth the $ 5 per pizza and it did the job. It’s not often you find a decent place to get take out for the two of us for under $ 20 bucks. They have a great concept with the simple straightforward menu, good ingredients and great prices, I hope they do well.

All the taste of a wood fired pizza, without the carbs and calories of a thick crust, served in a hip trendy industrial-shiek atmosphere. Stone Flats is like a fast food joint in that you order at the counter and get your own drinks but the décor is anything but fast food. Think a more casual version of Union Kitchen and Tap. The community table and plank wood wall add rustic charm to the industrial-ish interior.
My huge margherita pizza on whole w heat flat breast was a yummy deal at $ 5. The house salad was boring as can be expected. So glad the serve Coca-Cola products, wine and beer. The open kitchen is a sign of quality food and safe practices. Those who are gluten intolerant will appreciate the gluten free crust. Chicago deep dish pizza lovers should skip it.

I heart flatbread. I love anything with bread… Especially, when it comes with cheese! Unfortunately, this flatbread was disappointing… literally with sauce and cheese thrown on top. I picked up my slice and the cheese and toppings slid right off. I was just stuck with the goopey bread. Maybe, the peeps were slacking in the kitchen… What a waste of $ 10.

For work, we usually have meetings around here. We usually end up at chipotle… so something different is MUCH welcomed. This place seems to have created a strange niche… hipster fast food i guess. It is decorated with vintage dark stained wood all around with that barn feeling. The pizza is thin crust on flat bread. I really enjoyed the sausage and mushroom pizza! it was genorous in toppings and the sauce was great! My friends got the salads– and I was almost envious of them(rarely will I say that about a salad!). Overall, 6 – 7 dollars for a personal pizza that’s healthy(at least healthy looking) but filling is great! Another plus is that they play the olympics and they have gluten free crusts for all my poor friends with gluten allergies! One note though– one friend got a buffalo chicken pizza. The buffalo sauce was too overpowering and made the rest of the experience rather un-fun :(. I recommend you skip this pizza.

As an avid Unilocaler to say the least, I have a long list of bookmarked places! Besides keeping track of them on Unilocal, there are lists in my phone, post it notes stuck to my bum, and places written in ink on my hands like a sweaty 12th grader in the 90’s who just got his first phone number… sigh, but I forget, there is just SO. MUCH. FOOD. Thus, two things, 1: Why I hadn’t been here yet, and 2: why sign flippers are awesome. I was in Encinitas and saw this dude throwing around a sign with the greatest of ease, ohmygodyesstoneflatsIforgot and a screeching almost-missed-it turn I swooped into the parking lot. Tiny parking lot, I will not judge you till after I have had delicious flat breaded goodness. It was not busy at all as it was about 4:30 in the afternoon-love the décor! Simple and to the point. I always feel like the best places are the ones who figure out what they do well and DOTHAT. If you build it, they will come! I ordered a pepperoni flatbread and added veggies and an iced tea. All to go, from a totally helpful and friendly guy at the counter. I could easily see all the fresh ingredients and the kitchen staff-which I always find comforting. They’re not hiding anything, they couldn’t anyways, it’s really thin flatbread, where would you put it? I waited for just a couple minutes at the cool tall table in the middle of the room. Fun. Noticed that they serve beer and wine. Even MORE fun. They don’t do delivery(yet) but you can pre-order and pick up if you’d like. Besides the menu they carry a 3 bean chilli, tomato soup, bread sticks, some great looking salads. You can add a small salad or chilli to your pizza for only 2.95, or a garden salad or tomato soup for 1.95. Pizza’s run between 4 and 7 dollars, more if you start adding toppings. Size wise, one is good for a full meal-you might have a few mini pieces left over if you have a light appetite-But sharing one just won’t do. Important! They have white, wheat, or Gluten Free Crust. I don’t think the GF is kept in a dedicated area per the warning on the menu, but just so ya know. The parking was still small, mouth full of pizza didn’t distract away from that, It’s a cool place, check it out!

Been there a couple of times now, and it’s an awesome place! Keep in mind, this is a fast gourmet flat bread place to eat. It’s cheap, easy, and great friendly staff and atmosphere. They serve beer and wine, and have a great selection of pizzas, plus a craft your own menu which means you can pretty much have whatever tickles your pickle. They also have salads, and I’ve had them both times I’ve been there and both times they were fresh and delicious. On top of being a decent new neighborhood place for us locals, they are also doing some pretty cool stuff for our community. I just ate there yesterday and they were giving away free pizzas for a $ 5 donation to the YMCA in Encinitas. The Y is redoing the skate park to keep more kids in there and out of trouble, which has my full support. Great asset for our community, plus a great option for a quick delicious meal.(plus it a short walk to Swirls, where you can get some Froyo for desert) ;P

stopped by early sunday afternoon with lots of family for, appropriately enough, a family stye lunch. we ordered three flats(plus two kid-sized for the kids) and shared. the flat bread crusts(unlike the pizza dough flats at UNION around the corner and down the street) are pre-cooked and lightly toasted after they’re dressed to melt the cheese and heat the toppings and take some getting used to – definitely an ATKINS-friendly pizza approach. we opted for the whole wheat option … the SAUSAGE and ‘SHROOMS and BBQCHICKEN were both pretty tasty but the BUFFALOCHICKEN was the weakest of the three. no big surprises just the basic flavors you’d expect but done pretty well. the kids had PEPPERONI and CHEESE and judging by how eagerly they were gobbled up, i’m guessing they thought they were pretty okay too. WYATT also had BREADSTICKS but since he didn’t share, you’d have to ask him how good they were. we all shared a CHICKEN, WALNUT and APPLESALAD and, again, no big surprises just the basic flavors you’d expect done pretty well. GRANDMAJEANNE had a STONEPALEALE(no relation to STONEFLATS — i asked). always appreciate local restaurants supporting local breweries.

If it’s one thing I hate more than a hipster in skinny jeans drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon it’s a pizza with waaaaay too much crust. Pizza making is freaking biological science, people! One I am extremely familiar with, so familiar with I create heavenly creations of properly proportionate combinations of meat and cheese on a layer of dough with precision right in my own home. If you have a good reason to wear skinny jeans, which would mean you lack man-testicles and enjoy twilight(I’m team«Guy who almost hits Bella with the car» myself) then you’ll probably be completely content in ordering one selection of meat on your flat bread pizza Stone Flats has to offer. If you’ve been gifted with a sword of destiny in between your legs I’ll personally sack tap you if you don’t order all the meats on your flat bread pizza(minus tofu because that’s like having a lower back tattoo and then not putting out). Stone Flats does a solid job throwing down on some flatbread pizza eats. Let’s be honest though, it’s tough these days to ingest some delicious cheezy goodness packed with more meat than a party at the Brass Rail(see: gay bars). I give Stone Flats an above average rating because they made my tummy happy for two hours and my tongue have a mouthgasm the second I put a slice of that flatbread in my man-mouth-hole. The only issue I have here, which is can be a maker or a breaker for the pizza eating connoisseur is the freaking up charge on every subsequent meat you put on your flatbread pizza! I mean come on people how is a man supposed to tame just one of the many beasts us hunters have to deal with on a daily basis, don’t ask if you don’t know what the other beast a man has to deal with because if you do I’d question your testosterone producing abilities. Décor is simple, clean, and all around welcoming for the discerning gentleman who would like to share a beer with his buddies while conversing about important issues like how tasty bacon is or who has the biggest arms. The wood panels that line the inside of this place are a really nice touch and add to that whole, hearty food, I like beards and a whole lot of meat movement that’s taking over North County San Diego. This place is truly one of those you have to try it for yourself to decide if it’s worth plopping down and ingesting a cafeteria sized tray of flatbread pizza. If that last sentence sounded like sarcasm, you bet your sweet posterior it was.

I was stoked when I saw that a flat bread pizza joint was opening up so close to work. Fresh, healthy, locally owned flat bread pizza with a gluten free crust option??? Um, yes please. Shut up and take my money!!! However, expectations and reality were pretty far off. The biggest disappointment? They only have 5 varieties of pizza to choose from(6 if you count the create your own option. However the selection of toppings seem pretty sparse…). Come on, really? Only 5? And the pepperoni and margarita pizza shouldn’t even count, so really you’re only talking about 3 options there… Come on Stone Flats! Get sexy with it and break out some culinary creativity! Get me excited and make me want to come back! Just because your name is «Stone Flats,» doesn’t mean that you have to fall flat… At the end of the day the pizza wasn’t half bad, but I’ve had better. I’m sure I’ll be back and add it to the«It’s Friday night and I’ve had a long week at work and all I want to do is grab some take out and have a beer» rotation, but I won’t be stopping in as often I was hoping to.

This is the same place that used to be Rancho Bernardo, I don’t know the reason for the move but I’m happy they are close to home now. I really enjoy the super thin crust and fresh toppings and great salads, also they have gluten free crust and it’s really good. For drinks they serve bottled beer and wine for a reasonable price, and the typical soda fountain selections.(coke brand). The restaurant has a great modern and comfortable décor with bench seating and a TV for sports. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and kept the place very clean. I will be a regular for sure.
