Every year, I need to see a retinal specialist which I absolutely dread for reasons I shall explain. The previous specialists never listened to me when I told them that I have migraines. This doctor listened & was very very gentle. After the visit, my migraine was light & not as intense as previous visits. He does a thorough exam. A very thorough exam. He also gives a thorough explanation of what’s going on with you. Not only that, his staff were very kind & caring.

Dr. Engstrom saved my son’s vision! My son had a repaired detached retina which needed to be attached again. We discovered that no retina specialist in our home county (Ventura County) would accept his insurance. Fortunately, Dr. Engstrom did. We knew that Dr. Engstrom was highly recommended because many professional and collegiate friends of ours in the San Fernando Valley see him on an ongoing basis for retina problems. It was worth the trip to Encino! Dr. Engstrom’s office was amazingly thorough with their evaluations — some done by technicians and then by Dr. Engstrom. He was personable and patient with our questions. The evening after the surgery took place, Dr. Engstrom tracked us down at the motel where we were staying to inquire about how he was doing and offer further suggestions. He had to make several calls — to our home and various cell phones before he finally connected with us. We were so appreciative that he cared enough to make these after-​hours calls!
We feel confident that everything that could be done for our son’s vision has been done. We have had an excellent experience with Dr. Engstrom and his staff. Thank you, Dr. Engstrom!

DR Engstrom is a true professional in his field ! My wife and I were highly recommended to Dr Engstrom By Dr Dalai. My wife was having vision problems in her right eye due to bleeding in her eye and lost 100% of her vision. Dr Engstrom did a thorough Examination of her and set a surgery date that week at Northridge surgery center. Surgery went perfect and restored her vision to ²⁰⁄₂₀ we are very grateful to Dr Engstrom and his entire staff that was professional and courteous. Wait times were not a problem they tell you to allow 2 hrs because they have emergencies that take priority. NEVER WAITED any were near the 2hrs but even if we did it would have been worth it for expert care they take! Would have given 6 stars if I could. THANK YOU Dr Engstrom!

Extremely professional, knows what he’s doing. If you can feel the — passion how, a someone, loves eye surgery. Then — you no they will be excellent, and Dr Engstrom is… just that!
