This gem is the best chicken spots I’ve ever been to and my favorite place to eat in the southern tier. The service is friendly and the value of the buffet is amazing.

We used to love going to Phil’s for the dinner buffet, but have stopped going due to being ill multiple times after eating the buffet. Not sure if it has to do with temperature the food is being kept at? We have since enjoyed the breakfast buffet with no problems, and that is likely the only buffet we’ll return for. If going for lunch or dinner, it might be best to order off of the menu, rather than ordering the buffet. And definitely order dessert — they have delicious homemade pies!

I love Phils !! So much so that I know their buffet menu selection by heart. Sunday– baked fish. Monday — turkey Tuesday –wings Thursday –beef tips Friday– fried fish. Those are my favorites! And of course the chicken and MASHEDPOTATO! I use them all the time to feed out of town company who fall in love with it. Great service great people and you CANNOT beat the price! I love the salad soup bar. Best value in town! And they are more than happy to serve my chicken«dry” — no extra sauce. A must go to !!

I reside in Endicott, and have for the past 3 years. My wife and I. Originally from Western NY, I’ve heard about this place a few times from people so one night, recently, Oct 2014, we ordered take out from here. Not good. We got the Ribs dinner and the Meatloaf dinner(basket) and each came with 2 sides. We both got different sides so we could mix and match and try everything. The meat was okay. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t fabulous either. But the sides is what turned us off. The mashed potatoes tasted like Instant mash. Not real potatoes, maybe with some little pieces of redskin? Nope. Bland, bland, bland. The Mac and cheese was the same. NOFLAVOR! Ok, so onto the stuffing… unfortunately it was the same. Actually the stuffing, which I love a good stuffing, was the worst. Not fluffy at all, in fact it was soggy and again had minimal flavor. We were SO disappointed! I would think a place like this would have rich, homemade mashed, and creamy Mac and cheese loaded with cheesy flavor and goodness. After all, it’s not a chain, and we usually prefer these type of places. Nope, I would pass on this joint.

Every time I eat food from here I get sick. We’ve tried to have them bring lunch for work functions multiple times now and every time the«catering» is sub par. I recently decided to head over to the restaurant to try a meal prepared freshly thinking that it may be a different experience but once again I was sick. I have asked around to many of my coworkers and friends; many of them draw the same conclusion and have gotten sick. I will not be going back here.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday. It was average at best. Chicken was okay, too salty in my opinion however. Mashed potatoes were flavorless but the gravy was good. Corn bread was very good and service was the best thing about the place.

i’ve been to their buffet twice, had takeout once, and have been at catered events a few times. i feel like the chicken is better at catered events, i dunno why, BUT it is still really good served in house. i love that this place offers that summer cornell style BBQ chicken year round, chicken gets a 4 out of 5(the breast can be a little dry at times and the wing gets too overdone to eat). i dunno why, but both times at the buffet they didn’t have any thighs out, which is my favorite part of the chicken. the biscuits i’ve had from them before were nothing special. i bought a dozen of them and only had a few of them and then they got moldy after only a day or 2. anyways, the buffet is really the best way to go at this place. great salad bar, i usually go for the potato salad and the cabbage salad. the cabbage salad is just coleslaw with an oil/vinegar base instead of mayo. and i usually like my potato salad with mustard in it, but theirs was fine without it. they have a selection of breads at the buffet too, the cornbread was great, some of the best i’ve had in the area! and the stuffing they had at the buffet was really good too. now onto the negatives. the mashed potatoes were very disappointing. tasted fake, same with the gravy, it just didn’t have the taste or texture like it was made in house. same with the beef tips, the gravy didn’t seem fresh and the beef was also kinda overdone and hard to chew. the potatoes au gratin we ok, nothing special. and as for the ribs, i was not a fan. the sauce was too sticky and didn’t have any sort of special flavor. the ribs were tender enough and big too, they cut up fill sized spare ribs, but it didn’t really taste like they were seasoned, so all you tasted was pork fat and bbq sauce. the dessert though, oh god. included with the buffet you get a slice of pie or cake. the waitress(who was friendly and attentive) warned me to save room, and i thought i did but i guess i didn’t. i got the lemon meringue pie and i ate most of it but couldn’t force down the last 2 bites, i just didn’t have the room. the pie was fantastic though, i’m not usually a huge fan of meringue but this was done right. that said, a couple years ago when i was at a buffet my friend and i each got a slice of pecan pie and my friend asked the waitress if it was made in house and she said no. it was good but even if my friend hadn’t asked i would have been able to tell that it wasn’t made in house, it was just like the kind you used to be able to get at the giant. so overall, definitely worth the trip for the buffet, even if everything’s not made in house there’s still a lot of good quality food to load up on for a fair price

I always want to call this place Phil’s Chicken Shack. A wholesome meal/buffet at an inexpensive price. It was like having Thanksgiving dinner without it being Thanksgiving. The wait staff is super friendly. This place got packed on a Monday night after my fam and I arrived. And you can’t beat the ‘bucket’. An abundant array of pies and desserts. Fantastic pumpkin pie and they have rainbow sherbet as well.

Friendly service with a smile and a price you can’t really beat. Went for breakfast on a Sunday. The food was pretty average; about what you’d expect at a hotel continental breakfast. Dry eggs, limited options. It’s no frills and dirt cheap but if that’s what you’re looking for, definitely give this place a try. Maybe lunch or dinner would be better?

I am always craving Phil’s Chicken… ALWAYS…The chicken here is the best, THEBEST. You cannot get chicken this good anywhere else(okay maybe Brooks BBQ but even that’s not as good imo) I go here for the buffet and always leave with a smile on my face and my belt unbuckled haha. The chicken is always falling off the bone and so moist and flavorful! I always stop here when in Binghamton, ALWAYS. The cream of broccoli soup is always fantastic and their other selections on the line are great. They should expand to a bigger building as the area for the buffet I wish was bigger but that doesn’t deter me ATALL. I only have 2 cons for this place, 1.) They’re not in Ithaca and 2.) They do not deliver to my house in Ithaca. Seriously though get over here and try the chicken if you haven’t, you haven’t lived until you have! On a side note, the ribs have way too much sauce on them, should make your ribs without sauce and have it on the side or cut down. I love the ribs themselves but don’t like getting a mouth of barbecue sauce with a little bit of meat. Still good though!

If you like chicken, you will love Phil’s. It has grown on me, as my first impression was hesitant. The décor is very country and I am not a fan of buffets. I still order off the menu, but am amazed how moist and delicious the chicken is EVERY time. The staff is super friendly like nowhere else I have seen before. If in the area, you must try Phil’s!

Great food. We went for their lunch buffet and it was great. Our waitress at one point helped our daughter add things to her salad at the salad bar. Great staff all the way around very friendly.

Grew up in Binghamton and moved to LA35 years ago. Just came back to visit and went to Phil’s for first time. Best American home cooking I’ve ever had. Food was fantastic and so was service — great prices too!

I have been going to Phil’s Chicken House for nearly 30 years now. That statement in and of itself should speak volumes to any one contemplating a great meal. Would you go back time and time again if the food wasn’t great? This place has the best tasting chicken that I know of in the triple cities area. If I had anything to say that was not an A+ comment it would be that their salad bar needs more updating. The moment you walk into their dining room you sense a feeling of coziness that can’t be found just any where.

Delicious, juicy chicken, accompanied with all the usual suspects: biscuits, creamy soups, mashed potatoes, salad, corn bread, etc. A very homey, comfortable place that offers an excellent lunch buffet for less than 8 dollars — and that includes their fresh homemade pie! It’s nothing fancy, but just really good rotisserie chicken and down-home food that will fill you up. We tried the rhubarb pie — excellent with a tender, flaky crust.

Over the years I have eaten many times at Phil’s Chicken House. In fact, when it was still a small casual restaurant I used to live closer and went there often. It was fantastic back then! Like many restaurants that get bigger, they seem to lose their quality. We picked up their bucket of chicken with sides for dinner and added a pie for dessert. When we got home and took it out, we were so disappointed! Not enough food for three people… shoot it was not enough for one let alone 3! I guess I was thinking it would be like KFC with plenty for leftovers too. The chicken was cut up in tiny little pieces. Not good tasting at all. Terrible pie! I used to buy their pies for holidays they were so good back in the 1970’s. I forgot to add that it was a very expensive mistake… way over priced! Ok, so I gave them another chance thinking that maybe they just did not do take out very well. So we met my FIL there for a Sunday dinner. We both got chicken and dumplings. What a mistake that was! Horrible meal! I could hardly eat any of mine. Little tiny wimpy lettuce for a salad. We will never go there again. I hate paying for a such a meal.
