Enfield Opticians is the place for any type of eyewear! The customer service here is second to none! I have used a «competitor» in the past and was treated very poorly; willing to sell me cracked glasses! As soon as I walked in I was greeted and assisted in a timely and professional manner! The people here were genuinely interested in my opinion and helped me to get exactly what I wanted! I will never go anywhere else for glasses, sun glasses, or contacts!

Unfortunately — after coming here for years and using my insurance, something has changed, e.g., they no longer take my insurance plan?!. Now, solely based on previous experiences, I drove an hour(from Greenfield, MA) to came get an eye exam, contact fitting and a new pair of glasses at their new location. I do this because I am comfortable with Pete, I typically like their glasses, and the service is good. Having not been specifically explained they don’t take my insurance I get an eye exam, contact lens exam and am promptly charged $ 90. When I ask the girl behind the desk why we don’t charge everything at once, after I choose my glasses, she claims, «it doesn’t matter». Now — running a business, I know that’s not true, unless of course they get free credit card processing, but who am I in this scheme, really? Just a customer. I pay the $ 90, and am quite stressed by this point, because this 15 year old eye doctor has decided he needs my eyes dilated, I cannot see even well enough to even pick a pair of glasses, rendering my visit practically useless. Additionally I now have an hour to drive home with less than perfect vision. I just call the office back(7÷10÷2015) to find out exactly what I just paid for, since my insurance covers both contact fittings and $ 5 wellness exam, but the girl fumbles for an answer to my insurance question. She claims, «we charge $ 25, then $ 65 for the contact fitting…» with no further information. In the end, all I got was — «too bad — you should have known, and someone here should have told you, but obviously they didn’t…» Needless to say, I am shocked after being ripped off by having to pay for a service that is covered under my insurance plan. They misused me and my trust I once had with this office. Had they said, your plan is no longer accepted here and as such, we will charge you more for the services — I would respectfully declined to go forward, stayed in MA and found a new doctor.
