Went with 2 other people, one who is a regular and has said the steak here is awesome. She was right. Some of the best meat I’ve had in years. The service on sizzling plates keeps it hot all meal long. And great sides complemented the steak. Terrific desserts as well. But the star is the meat. As well as the very good and friendly service. Can’t say enough about the whole experience. First class all the way.

Cliffs is a neighborhood gem, the food is great and the prices are better than most steakhouses in the NY/NJ area. Porterhouse for two was cooked to perfection and then sizzled on the hot plate with juice before melting in the mouth. An absolute dream for lovers of quality cut steaks. Service was good and the wait staff was attentive rather than one server checking on water, drinks etc, multiple servers would come by to ensure customer needs were met. The owner/manager coming over to personally and sincerely than us for our patronage showed a touch of class absent in most places these days.

The filet mignon on the bone is the best steak I ever had. Great staff and great food located in a Victorian home with fireplace. A most personable owner completes the picture.

Too much $ for an attempted upscale steakhouse that doesn’t make the grade. I am not sure if they need time or if they just aren’t going to get it. Better steakhouses nearby, river Palm & Sofia’s. Place looks good. Hot plate thing is weird, just cook my steak correctly and bring it out done to the temp I ordered. Steak could be better quality.

Love this place. Best service, friendly, and great food. For 4 people: Ordered porterhouse for 2 and rib eye(the filet is amazing!!!), 2 orders of ½ dozen oysters, 3 bacons(very good), two sides(mushrooms and creamed spinash). They cooked their rigatoni perfectly al dente. The staff treat you like family. Tip: be friendly with them and they will be friendly right back. Business lunch is also a good deal!

Service for big parties is very good and responsive. The presentation needs to improve. I came in and saw stained plate and napkin. My dessert was presented and it looked like it fell on the plate. I say the theme is: cozy and sloppy.

This was a very good experience. We both ordered the rib steaks and they were perfect. The onion soup was one of the best I have ever had. The creamed spinach was truly fantastic… better than the Capital Grill. The waitstaff was superb. If there was a slight disappointment, it was the short dessert list. But since both the house made tiramisu and the red velvet cake were excellent, there really was no complaint. Will definitely eat here again.

It would be unfair to compare this place to NYC steak places, but overall I thought all the food tasted good and consistently good. The burrata tomato salad was cut by the server with a sharp knife for us. The Chilean sea bass and salmon were cooked perfectly. The beet salad was sweet. The steak was cooked perfectly. The side of mashed potatoes and asparagus was good. The side of onion rings were less rings and more like fried onions, but still good. Their tiramisu cake and carrot cake, again all good. The issue was more the quantity of food — the quantity was small, particularly for a steak place and for the prices. Our steak was the smallest I’ve ever seen. The slices of cake were small. The side dishes, including like 8 – 10 pieces of thin asparagus, small. The service was awkward. I think they meant well but the jokes were awkward and just simply not a smooth experience. I’ve never had to ask for a menu in order to order my entrees. They also do have wine by the glass, which they can verbally tell you since it’s not on the wine menu.

I understand that it was Valentines Day but come on be prepared for guest on a special occasion. «Special Occasion!» Arrived at 8:00pm and seated right away great! Didn’t get our menu, water, bread until 8:20pm! Horrible food and horrible service there are much better restaurants around do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else. We were there until 11:30 because of its being under staff.

This place is unique on its own. If you like steak, it’s a must try at least once. My usual order is porter house which gets served in HOT porcelain plate. It’s seared hot so if you want your meat rare or close to rare, must give them heads up so that it doesn’t over cook on the table. Service is okay, nothing special but not bad. Sometimes there are too many of them lingering around the table and at other times you can’t find one server in this fairly small restaurant. But they always come around at some point. Location is off of Sylvan Ave w leading into 9W with ample parking in the back.

Decent place but any references or comparing it to River Palm are way off base. The steak is decent here, but for a few more bucks stay on 9w and head to RP

Don’t discriminate. Asians drink wine too. We deserve to get a wine menu when seated. I was a little disappointed that the server/manager did not give us the wine menu when the 4 of us sat down. He may have forgotten, but this was the vibe I got from him(couple other tables – Asians – were not drinking wine). I also may have taken it personally since I’m a wine lover. The tomato, mozzarella, basil salad was one of the worst salad I’ve tasted. The cheese had no taste whatsoever! The steamed lobster was damn too chewy, lobster ravioli was bland, and the sea bass was too salty. The porterhouse??? Absolutely delicious!!! Quickly cooked inside the kitchen, and the rest on the plate in front of you. The steak usually cooks in drawn butter, but I’m not a fan and they accommodated. I get it. It’s a steakhouse, but if they’re going to have other items on the menu, it should be worth your money. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. If you’re craving a juicy steak, hurry up and try it!!! My mouth waters just thinking about it.

This place is so close to being a 5 star rating, if I could have given 4.5 stars I would have. Just a few brush ups and it’s right there. The food is great and they have a unique way of presenting their steaks. You have to try a steak if you come here by the way. I got the T Bone, which was not your typical T Bone, the filet was missing, but it was still great. They serve it on a platter already cut and then place it on a porcelain plate that is searing hot. The plate continue to cook it, so beware if you want something rare or medium rare, it can cook it to an undesired temperature. The steak was seasoned perfectly, and it was a great cut. I cam here with 8 coworkers, and the service was almost excellent. This is where I think they need a little improvement. We had plenty of attention, and the glasses where always kept full. Two things annoyed me though. the first being when my coworker was bumped in the head by a serving platter for the appetizers, and the second being when they cleaned the bread crumbs off the table and reached over us to clean it. The area was tight, but not a fine dinning experience. The décor is like a mom and pop kitchen. It’s nice, but not over the top. This is not a bad thing though, and I appreciated the country charm that is put off in the place..

I came to Cliff’s with my girlfriend and her family for her cousins first communion. Since I am not from NJ I cannot comment on the restaurant in relation to other places in the area, but it looked like a standard, used to be a house at some point in its life type of place. Décor was standard, however I was very very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Penne vodka came out with chunks of pancetta in it, which is when I knew the food to follow would be good. I had a shell steak and string beans which was delicious. My girlfriend had the salmon which was also very good, and I am not a huge fish fan either. Service was prompt and courteous and they made sure to keep everyone’s glass full which is important to me. Before desert was served they even scraped the crumbs off the table. Would return if in the area.

Dinner with GF Steakgasm…oh ma gahd We ordered their signature Porterhouse for 2 medium rare along with the creamed spinash. The meat was so succulent and juicy. I was literally licking off the juice off my plate. The table next to us had A1 sauce and I actually cringed. The creamed spinach was just ok. The price is extremely affordable for high quality steak(I believe it was $ 76 for 2). Sides were only $ 6. Top that off with a nice glass of red and you have a perfect meal. The restaurant is actually a house, with lots of windows and a front patio area for dining. It’s one of the better steaks I’ve had the luxury of enjoying… Price wise you can’t beat it, but then again it’s still doesn’t compare to the finer NYC steakhouses. GF picked up the tab and said«this is pre-game for Peter Lugers». awesomeness…

Excellent food, great service, we will definitely come back! I had the best tuna in the world, my husband had a delicious juicy tasteful steak! I travel a lot for work and i have the chance to try good restaurants around the globe, and i have to say i was very surprise. I know we are close to Manhattan, but for being in a small town like Englewood Cliff it is absolutely outstanding! Bravo!

3.5 stars. Food is good. That must be a given since the prices are so high. We were a party of six for dinner. The porterhouse steak for four was tasty. Slightly burnt but still high quality steak. The two entrée orders of rigatoni with shredded filet mignon was delicious. Four salads and an order of sauteed mushrooms accompanied our dinner. We also ordered a chilean cabernet to pair our meal. Suffice to say, the food and wine were good. But I was not impressed with the service. For these lofty prices, the waiter needs to cool it with pushing diners to order more. And that is what happened here. Our waiter strongly intimated(more like insisted) we order more. I was put off by that. I believed we ordered enough to satisfy our hunger/palate. If our final bill did not measure up to our waiter’s expectations, well tough. Not every 6 person table is going to run up a $ 500 tab. I have enough undeserved guilt in my life. I don’t need my waiter to make me feel bad/guilt for not ordering a feast of a lifetime. Just so that he can get paid. Minus two stars.

Steak was given on a hot plate(server gave us another hot plate when we asked for it so service was great). But come on, it was covered it butter and fat: T Maybe I’d give it four stars if it weren’t NYC prices. Make sure to get the spinach side dish though!
