Great quiet place(on a weekday at least) to pick up some home essentials, like dishes, small appliances or tupperware. Their prices beat Homegoods or Marshall’s, but the stuff isn’t exactly high end. They even have furniture and home storage solutions, like shoe racks for $ 7.99. I would be careful buying groceries here, as I saw some packaged items past their expiration date. Clean restrooms and friendly associates.

Okay… So I’m not normally a Big Lots fan. We just happen to be strolling around and looking for a cheap kids watch. They didn’t have exactly what we were looking for, but we ended up getting a box of Krusteaz pancake mix, butter cookies(yes the ones you get during Christmas in a blue tin!), apple chips, and toffee chocolate almonds. Random stuff, right?! Basically all the things you need to satisfy pregnancy cravings! But really, I don’t remember the last time I was in a Big Lots, and I’m quite surprised at the selection(almost over selection!) on stuff. I mean they have furniture! And it’s not too cheaply made. I kept circling the food sections, surprised that they have a global food section(Indian, Asian, etc)… And the amount of treats, chips, and candy! Wow! I tend to gravitate towards the healthier treats, but I found myself wanting to buy something for the sake of buying something because of the fabulous prices! It’s a great place to get all the Seasonal Stuff(they already have Halloween, fall, and Christmas stuff!). The store is maintained nicely, and the gal at the register was really friendly. So if you are looking for some money to spend on random and not-so-random things, Big Lots is the place to go!

I enjoy shopping at Big Lots. I’ve had so-so experiences in the past, but usually, I don’t feel taken advantage of here. The prices are fair and the selection is wide. My favorite thing about this store is their holiday selection. It seems that they always have a wide variety of holiday decorations and what they offer is not bad quality either. I’d definitely shop here before going to Walmart if I have the option. It’s not as large and a lot more efficient when in a rush.

Big Lots has some pretty good deals at times, but often I find better prices on similar items at WalMart. That said, the two stores have much different selections and I would certainly recommend Big Lots over WalMart as far as quality goes. For instance, I doubt I would ever buy furniture from WM, but Big Lots has a fair selection of real wood furniture, kitchen islands, ect. For what they carry, it is typically middle of the road quality and a fair price. While they don’t specialize, and thus don’t have the selection you may want to see if you are shopping for something specific, they do have a wide variety of different items. Buying a couch, some flip-flops, chips, and an ice scraper? Big Lots.

Just stopped into this big lots today to get a few things. Bathrooms were disgusting. When we proceeded to checkout I believe a lady by the name of Kathy rang us up, that could be wrong. She was being very short with us from the beginning. After I paid and she got my change I told her that I didn’t need a bag for my items. She said«oh, you don’t get a bag». Like I wasn’t deserving of her big lots bags. When she was waiting for the receipt to print I said that I don’t need a receipt either. She got really irritated, talked down to me and said«uh you need a receipt to leave». Like I should have known that was a policy or something. I understand letting me know that I needed the receipt but it was unnecessary to talk to me in that manner. Respect your customers.

I have to admit, I love Big Lots. I love closeout stores because you never know what you’re going to find. I don’t frequent Big Lots very often because I don’t live anywhere near one, but, when I do go, I always feel giddy. I go for the home goods — dishes, platters, cocktail glasses. I’m very clumsy, so I don’t like to pay a lot of $ for things that break. I found so many interesting and fun things for the holidays at really low prices. I’m so excited to set the table on Thanksgiving!

Typical Big Lots with CHEAP prices. Found all of the items I needed to get my patio garden going!

Big Lots seems to suck me in around Christmas. They have TONS of holiday decorations and lots of cheap cute prepackaged gift ideas. I love them for that kind of stuff. Plus if you need cheap kitchen utensils or other random house stuff where you don’t need name brand — it actually is a pretty good place to stock up. It is overstocked, overstuffed and often packed with people. So it isn’t the greatest shopping experience. This one even has furniture(couches, bed, etc.) I don’t go for the big stuff, but I love the cheap decorations!
