I brought the family here. This place has something for everyone. Several sets of Cornhole boards, ring hook games both on the pole and on the tables. On the water for a great view and a band that has a great variety of music. We had a great time people watching and I had the Tiki burger. It was LOADED with everything and tastes awesome. The kids had the flounder and wings. They were satisfied and we also had the Grouper sandwich. Note that the Grouper is not on the menu but the wife said it was fantastic and fresh I highly recommend this place for the family or just a couple looking for drinks and a good night.

Wonderful experience!!! We went there for drinks and desert after dinner. The atmosphere was great– right next to the water, comfy couches, fireplaces, band, ping pong tables, and giant Jenga! Our server was great, very attentive and super fun! Couldn’t have asked for a better time! Also, their deserts are yummy!

First let me start of by saying that I have been a server for 13 years. I have seen it all and experienced it all. Tonight’s visit to Flounders was the worst I’ve seen in a long time! For those who want to drink and dance this is the PERFECT place but beware that there will be a bunch of super drunk creepers that hassle you to dance with them. This is obviously an establishment that doesn’t know when to stop serving their customers. Sad because those are the people that then get into a car and drive! When we sat down at our table the server said the kitchen was a little behind and that our food order would be an hour and a half. Ok so we order our drinks at 7:30 we finally get our drinks at 8. Our server was obviously new to this industry. We had to ask FOUR times for WATER. My mom ordered a SKINNYMARGARITA and the bartender had no clue what that meant. It’s tequila, triple sec and fresh lime juice! FYI that’s a traditional Authentic Mexican margarita! Once my mom took a sip she new it was not the drink. She quickly orders another type of drink and begs the server to take our food order. We ordered nachos as an appetizer, three hamburgers, lobster roll and mahi mahi tacos. 25 mins later, my mom gets her new drink and the server states that it will be another hour and a half until we get the nachos! To which my mom shocked was like are u kidding??? The manger comes over and is very standoffish and is visibly annoyed, she keeps say«ma’am» to my mom. Which anyone that knows good customer service knows that is not the right choice of words. What should have happened was she come over and apologize for the wait, offer something like a round of drinks on the house or something. But when the manager is a disgrace it’s like a domino effect that trickles down into all areas of service. The manager tells my mom the nachos will be out in 40 mins, and then leaves and comes back with them, the cheese wasn’t even melted! And there was hardly any toppings! But we ate it because we were starved and had already been there for a long time!!! AT9:20 we finally got our food! I ordered a Med/Rare burger that came out«black and blue» which means supper raw! When we are all sitting there finished with our food, the manager still had not come by to do a table check. Usually they help bring out the food ask if everything is ok and then stop back by after everyone is done. My mom asked for the check and our server says«I didn’t charge you for half of that burger» um what? Can u even do that? The burger was $ 13, just take to whole thing off or nothing at all! Know one asked to have it removed, but to be nice your gonna charge me for half? I’ve never heard of any such thing. Then my mom notices that the server never took off the drink that the bartender didn’t know how to make that she never drank! The server says«well I can either void this transaction and re-ring in everything and charge your card OR I CANJUSTGIVE U MONEYFORIT» WTF? He pulls out cash and gives my mom her money back for the drink! Needless to say, I’m not in hurry to go back. And to be honest they need new management, and service training for their servers and bartenders. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t there first year being opened on a big holiday season and so they should be smarter about preparing for it.

Good atmosphere. Busy but lots of seating and short to zero wait times. Good outdoor area with games, cornhole, etc. live music is «ok». Food is just above average and a little pricey for what you get– par for the course being by the water and in the key. Overall good experience and worth checking out.

Steer clear! My first visit to Flounders, we were prompted to seat ourselves. My boyfriend & I grabbed a nice seat by the water. Unfortunately we sat for 15 minutes before ever being greeted. After 15 minutes we went to the front to let someone know our situation, and from there another 5 minutes passed before anybody arrived. Then we ordered a Loaded Corona.(Bottle of Corona, and a shot of Bacardi limón.) Our server brings over a Corona and a regular shot of Bacardi. Now with both of us being in hospitality we weren’t so hard on her. Maybe the bartender made a mistake. Moving on, we ordered a Mojito next, that ended up coming out virgin. Although it had no alcohol, when we asked them to add it. They charged us for an extra shot on top of the charge already for a Mojito with alcohol. It was time for us to leave. When we received the bill we were charged for 2 extra shots we never saw. Careless mistake after careless mistake. Understanding that you should try something more than once, we came back later that night. To be disappointed once again. No greet for a long period of time.(Sound familiar?) I ordered a vodka cranberry, and it came out in a tall water glass that had no alcohol in it what so ever. Also ordered the gator bites and spinach dip. Gator bites had so much fat you couldn’t enjoy them, and the spinach dip looked as if they threw a couple spinach leaves on a plate then put a handful of chips on top. Service needs to be improved big time! The location and atmosphere has a lot of potential.

This is one of the best places at the beach. They have corn hole, giant Jenga, ping pong, and of course live music all the time. You have to ask for the bartender Richard. He’s the best!

This place is ok but nothing special. Hostess was rude did not let us sit where we wanted to. Service was fast. Drinks were great, my husband had a beer and I had a dragon fruit mojito. We ordered the Fisherman’s Feast, it was not so good, fries were dry, fish had a bad after taste even the catchup tasted funny… Flounders is on the pricier side too and food was really not so great. The band just started to play that could be fun if you go out with a group of people. Also the restaurant only has a single restrooms-one person at the time-and some additional porter potties outside. It won’t be our favorite restaurant on Englewood beach, I don’t think we will be returning to Flounders.

Not«as good as it gets» but I’m definitely a fan. Situated near the road and a small canal, the bright umbrellas welcome any passer by. After many years of passing it by as we had to visit relatives on the key, My wife and I were finally alone and could stop in. It was mid afternoon and music was playing and drinks were being served. We split the peel and eat shrimp(warm and good) and the fish taco’s(blackened mahi-mahi). Not world class but perfectly fit the relaxing low key surroundings. We’ll be back.

What a fun place! Love walking into a beach bar to see live music, games, multiple bars, and people all having fun. We have now been there twice. Had the nachos and highly recommend them. 4 stars, not 5 because the service at the bar was pretty slow. Other than that I highly recommend you check it out.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have more great reviews. We had a fabulous time! We stopped in for lunch while at the beach with our toddler son. They sat us outside on their awesome waterfront patio. They gave us one of their picnic tables which was perfect for my son. I got their calamari and oyster basket which was a special that day and my husband got their crab cake sandwich. Both were out of this world. Totally fresh and flavorful. We also ordered two signature drinks off of their menu and they were out of this world and tropical. :) Finally for dessert our waiter recommended getting a piece of their key lime pie and their fried coconut cheesecake. OMG. Both were mouthwatering decadent and totally worth every penny. I’m so happy that we enjoyed this local place. The atmosphere is perfect for any age group. I’ll definitely be back next year while on vacaton. P.S: Their staff is great as well. Very accommodating and knowledgeable of their menu. They made the experience that much better. See you next year Flounders!

We both ordered tacos ~ me Mahi & Bobby Scallops! Both were excellent! The seafood choice was served on a bed of lettuce & diced tomatoes with sides of mango salsa, sour cream and black beans & rice. The flour tortilla was toasted perfectly! Crisp but not overly done. Held the contents perfectly! Really neat bar area near the water with 8 fire pits & comfortable lounge seating! Our server, Bob, was super! Very attentive, courteous & friendly! We’ve been before and will go back many more times! Love it!

Good for drinks and music but that’s about it. Was there last night and had to wait 45 minutes for a table plus 45 minutes for food! Crazy because nobody around us had food so I don’t know who they were cooking for! Anyways, I will return for the atmosphere and drinks though

Came here while visiting my parents in Englewood. While I didn’t expect anything too amazing I assumed it would be alright considering my parents had eaten here before and the previous reviews seemed to be ok. I ordered the Grouper tacos due to positive reviews here on Unilocal but was VERY disappointed. They were fishy tasting and dry. The Henry burger was good and the crab cakes were actually pretty good. I ordered a «Big Papa» drink which consisted of 4 rums and 151 straw. It was ok but sweeter than expected and I wound up ordering a beer instead. Service was fast and our server was very polite and attentive of our table. I woudlnt say«never» come here, but I will say don’t expect anything too amazing.

Went to Flounder’s with friends for drinks and lunch on a Tuesday. The grouper tacos were great, but the service was horrible. The waitress didn’t write down our order and we wondered if she would get it right. She did not. We order one of the tacos blackened and guacamole with both. Neither were blackened and neither had guacamole. My wife ordered a lobster roll that never showed. We ordered one of their drink specials and after watching out waitress making multiple drink deliveries to other tables, we got the drink from the bar. About 20 minutes after our food was delivered our waitress checked to see if everything was okay. When we told her about the problems she offered to get the manager, blaming the kitchen staff for the multiple screw ups, that we figured were really due to her lack of attention to us and our order.

The good: The venue is very nice and we’ll done, views are great too and it’s right on the bay. I would come back again but only for drinks and live music under a nice tiki hut. The bad: Terrible service and wait times for food. Appetizers took over an hour for coconut shrimp and wings. Dinner took another hour and was mediocre at best. The Mahi Mahi is frozen along with the other«fresh fish». Why pay 25 bucks for fresh fish when you get frozen? Such a shame when its 300 yards from the Gulf. Our kids food came out last, we were already finished eating when it came. Empty glasses will sit on your table the entire duration of your meal. No manager will come around to apologize for their issues. You are better off eating somewhere else and coming here for after dinner drinks. You’ll thank me later.

This place has a great location in walking distance of the Englewood beach. It is absolutely completely comfortable and during the day it’s a good place for kids. At night I think I would not take the kids The beer list is better than most in the area as englewood lacks even one craft beer store. The food is fairly pedestrian but the staff was very nice

In my opinion, the best place to go if you’re in Englewood, the seating areas are all so unique and fitting to its surroundings. A friend and I were visiting Englewood on vacation and this is the first place we stopped for dinner when we first came to town. This was the first of many visits while in town and the first time around I had the fish tacos, I think it was flounder? They were scrumtrulescent for sure. Jake was our bar tender and he was awesome, super friendly, welcoming, found out he was a chiropractor too which was certainly cool. He also makes the best margarita I’ve ever had, not the Tiki-Rita, the normal one, whatever combination of ingredients he used in it is simply amazing and I don’t know if I’ll ever have one like that again, you set the bar high for sure sir. They also have bar games like tiki toss ring game which I found myself quickly enthralled with and shortly thereafter blood shot eyes from intense concentration, I had to be pulled away kicking and screaming. We came back another day and I had a burger which was really delicious and than another time the fajitas, all of the food was top notch. We came back late one night after a disappointing dinner at Gulf View which you can read about in that review when I post it. Kristelle was bar tending this night and she was also very friendly and trying to help give us ideas where we could go during our visit. It was not busy at all as this was not a busy season from what we were told, and honestly I can’t imagine what that place is like when it is busy! I bet it’s a great time, and harder to get drinks… But I will say that all the other staff looked enthusiastic, enjoyed what they did, got along well, and all worked together, even when it wasn’t busy… This place is great. My one complaint is the parking situation, I wouldn’t trust parking my car there as it would probably leave looking like a demolition derby car. So it’s best if you found parking elsewhere and walked if you could. Great job gang, can’t wait to come back for more of those margaritas!

Besides the average food, my car was hit in their parking lot and they claim they have no responsibility. There is no «park at your own risk» sign and they have a parking attendant. So my mediocre food cost me over $ 500 last week. WILLNEVERGOBACK!

Flounders is a great bar with awesome drinks and a great staff. The food however is average at best. It’s a great place to have a drink after the beach but not necessarily the best place to plan a dinner. With the other restaurants around with better food options, I would leave the drinks for Flounders and the food for somewhere else. P. S. Try the Tiki-Rita

Don’t be enticed by the live music. The food was just okay and although the drinks were good, $ 13 for a blood mary is bloody crazy! Be leery of drink menus void of prices. The food was expensive for the portions given. Avoid this place.
