The three stars all go to Stanley for his expertise in frame adjustments. Most opticians simply make random changes to a frame. The missing two stars reflect interaction with Jacqueline. She is unfriendly to the point of insulting. I looked at frames in her store previously and did not see one that I liked but returned months later to see new stock. She told me that she didn’t want me trying on frames before I have a new prescription and then indicated that it was not okay for me to even look at frames in her store until I am ready to put money in her hands. She pointed out that I was in her store before, as if that’s a bad thing! It is not acceptable to her to leave her store without buying, so much is she concerned about customers getting what they like. This is a high-priced store. I looked at the frame temples and she told me that she spends a lot of money on frames and doesn’t want someone in her store who is going to buy online. How’s that for off-putting? She said frame sizes are not at all indicative of fit. Oh, really? Her attempt to make sure that her customers can’t find her frames anywhere for less shows that they can. She told me that only discontinued frames are sold online and that she has all new eyewear. If true, she would not be concerned that someone would buy online or at another optical store the frames that she sells. This is not someone who cultivates the customer. One reason for a customer to shop a short distance from Manhattan is for friendlier service and less pressure to buy. She told me last time that people who wear glasses should replace their lenses every two years, no matter how well they see through them. Spoken like a true optical store owner. Jacqueline is disingenuous as well as unfriendly. This is not a feel good store. Telling a customer that she does not want anyone in her store who would try to buy elsewhere for less, does not inspire a subsequent buying decision. After being told to not to return until I have an updated prescription, I left wondering how she stays in business. As she pointed out, her(Lafont) frames in a front case are $ 600. It’s not as if the store was crowded. I was the only customer. It’s time-consuming to go to a store and look at frames. It is inefficient to look at only a small percentage of frames when in a store and then make another trip to finish looking. It requires duplicating the effort already made. It’s insulting to tell a customer to get out of her store until she’s ready to hand over money. She has her store in NJ when she lives in Manhattan for reduced overhead. This store belongs in Manhattan. The other optical businesses in Englewood have no objections to customers stopping in to look at and try on frames. Whether someone has a prescription with them is irrelevant if a store has no frame of interest.

I have been shopping for my glasses here for years, best selection of frames, wonderful service — no qualms about adjustments even months after the purchase. Very helpful fitting both frames and no-line bifocals… would recommend to everyone.

I believed the review and headed into look for new glasses. I now beleive the review from 2007 was written by them or their family member. The gentleman there was not helpful, and was actually very rude and confrontational. When i asked him a question he became very upset and raised his voice at me. That was the last straw, i told him im not going to do it, and I walked out immediately. I was ready to pay $ 500+ to buy a new frame. I would not recommend this place. Total prick.

Jackie is a goddess. Her selection of frames rocks. She is far too cool for Englewood, where the prevailing wisdom is «if it’s expensive, it must be good». Most of her frames are expensive, but they are also cool as hell, and it is possible to find bargains even on designer frames if you look. I found a pair of Chanel frames for $ 200 that I live in. The selection is immense. Her taste is impeccable. You’ll want to buy ten pairs. Don’t worry, she won’t let you. She really wants you to be happy and satisfied, and won’t let you make a bad fashion choice or buy too many pairs at once. Jackie will help you herself. You can’t help but love her. She’s nice. She also wears cool glasses. She kind of reminds me of a cross between my aunt Engrid – see photo, the one on the right – and Karen, from ‘Will and Grace’. Only sober. I have bought four pairs of glasses here. I need the custom sunglass clip made when I buy glasses since I’m blind and I hate Transitions. The cheapest pair set me back $ 385 all told. The most expensive were too much to admit in public. However, I get more compliments on the glasses I buy here than any others in my life. I have a round titanium pair with some custom rims on the lenses that people try to steal off my face. I have had excellent service, prompt turnaround, great fitting, and patient and honest advice. Stanley, by the way, is the guy in the back making the lenses and stuff. They are both very friendly. The only drawback is that they aren’t open on Wednesdays which ALWAYS messes me up since for some reason I tend to find myself in Englewood on Wednesday a lot. You absolutely won’t be disappointed if you give them a try.
