I’m a cyclist who had a nasty bike crash in August of this year, resulting in a fractured pelvis and most seriously a broken acetabular(hip socket). I was told at the trauma center the ambulance took me to that few surgeons did pelvis repair, that they didn’t handle that injury at that location, and that they weren’t sure where my insurance company would send me. Fortunately, I was transported to Swedish Medical Center and was able to receive the surgical care of Dr. Wade Smith. The bottom line is that the entire experience was extraordinarily positive, and so much better than I initially expected. In surgery Dr. Smith inserted two very long screws into my pelvis through two surprisingly small incisions. The cutting-edge minimally invasive surgery Dr. Smith performed enabled me to heal quickly. I was initially told that I could be in a wheelchair 10 to 12 weeks, and then in physical therapy possibly for months. Thanks in large part to the great care I received, I was out of the wheelchair and walking with a hiking stick in 4 weeks, and today, 10 weeks after surgery was given a full bill of health and freedom to return to the activities I love. I don’t know how one puts a price or value on such exceptional treatment and care. Dr. Smith specializes in pelvis trauma, complex compound fractures and the like. I’d just say that if you have been unfortunate enough to experience such fractures, you need this guy. You really do!

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Englewood, CO
Dr. Wade Smith provided the 3rd opinion after I suffered a shoulder injury in a bike accident. The first opinion(in the ER) was«Put it in a sling, it will be fine.» whereas the the second opinion was«You need surgery.» Fortunately, I was able to see Dr. Smith, a *trauma* specialist, rather than a sports medicine person. Dr, Smith was brisk and to the point, but friendly and warm as well. No beating around the bush, he knew exactly what the deal was, the risks of surgery, and how to read the scans from the ER. I was in the exam room with my partner and my best friend, and he treated both of them, as well as me, as valid and present partners in my health care. The office staff were warm, kind, and efficient, and I left after 50 minutes knowing exactly what the next 6 months should look like for my recovery. It’s too bad he’s only a trauma specialist, I’d go to Dr. Smith for everything if I could. But I’m glad he’s a specialist. He saved me $X, 000 in costs for surgery, plus down time, and reassured me I’d be back on my back as soon as *I* felt ready. If you’ve experienced a traumatic injury through a fall or accident, please take the time to visit MOTUS and Dr. Smith to ensure your care is exactly what is the best for you and your outcome!
