The Placida Pearl

With the lack of night time entertainment in the Englewood area someone needs to do it right. I thought this place has it unfortunately I was wrong. Customer service in SW Florida as a whole is a joke so I wasn’t expecting much from here and they just like most other businesses in this area lived up to it «horrible customer service» from the bartender slamming the pen on the bar after asking her to split the tab to a bouncer who was not working deciding he was vape pen patrol for the night. But of course I wouldn’t be writing this if that were the only 2 issues.
This place just opened and you would think they would want to start with a good reputation. I know I would and I’ve owned and operated over 15 clubs and restaurants in my lifetime. Well check this out. The place was doing a karaōke contest qualifying 1 person twice a week. They did a great job with that using different random judges each day. Then came the finals 8 contestants out of a possible 16 showed up (maybe the other 8 knew what was coming). Each contestant sang a song then the top 5 moved on to the final round. There were some amazing singers in that group of 2 girls and 3 guys. One guy who sang «open arms» had the best voice of all. One of the girls that sang «don’t stop believing» had great stage presence and voice. The way I saw it and most of the crowd there did was easy those 2 were 1^st and 2^nd no matter which order cause it would be hard to choose. Well nope not even close the guy with the AMAZING voice did not even place and the girl with the stage presence got 3^rd. The crowd was stunned and even the karaōke DJ was apologizing. The other girl who was yeah ok she won! Come to find out she works at this joint. We should have all known. Pearl I will give you guys a piece of advice for free this time don’t ever no matter what reason let an employee compete in a contest that you as a company are sponsoring. It was a huge let down to what had been up til that point a great promotion. Oh did I also tell you the judges high tailed it out the door after they saw the crowd response. Imagine that.

Long time watering hole is getting a well deserved face lift after 25 years!

Amazing bartenders, jammin’ music and Dave is still our favorite guy!
