It was my parents’ 40th wedding anniversary so it called for a celebration! We had a group of 9 and reserved the Filomina room which was perfect for us. One reason I picked this restaurant was because of the surprising amount of gluten free Italian dishes. All our meals were delicious.

The food was alright, unfortunately not worth the price. The pork in the Pork Rustica was good but the sauce was watery. The Frutta D’Mare came with alfredo sauce but is advertised as a white wine sauce. We were moderately disappointed with that. Bartenders were quite busy which led to slower service, I’d imagine on a slower night they’re on the ball. The atmosphere there is nice, I’d say it was the best part. Bottom line: too expensive for an overall«meh» experience.

Amazing food but big problem. There’s a bottle of wine that I fell in love with. I ended up buying 2 bottles for 36 dollars each! I liked it so much that I decided to find it at a local wine and spirits. Come to find out, that wine is a special order wine only and it costs 17.39. That’s freaking crazy! You know they are getting it cheaper wholesale but still, that’s crazy. Don’t ever buy wine from here as their mark ups are absurd

Our meals were tasty, but NOT worth the price. My husband got the pork chops and I the crab topped veal. Pork chops were just ok and yes, the veal was tender and the sauce was excellent, I don’t think it was worth $ 40 for just that dish. The side of gnocchi was just ok. I wish I had gotten the risotto instead. Aside from the high cost, the ambiance was just TERRIBLE! This place was re-built after a fire and it seems NO thought was put into decorating or ambiance. The bar/casual dining area was lit up like a workplace cafeteria, very sterile. We ate on the fine dining side, which was darker, but lacked ambiance. As I looked around I noticed the entire place was filled with very old people. My group of 6 was the youngest crowd there(low-mid 40s) and I couldnt help but wonder if this place would get any new business once all these people passed away. Long story short… Absolutely NOT worth the $ 200 we spent on 2 meals, wine and 1 dessert.

This is a great Italian place in Mechanicsburg. It has reopened after a fire and the food is still as delicious as I remember from past visits. I ordered the Zia Maria dish– filet medallions, shrimp, and scallops over linguine with a red sauce. The filet was seasoned well, but pounded into thin pieces, so it was well-done. The shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked and the sauce was classic Italian carbonara. My husband got the vitello cardinale– veal sautéed and topped with crab imperial. The veal was very lightly floured and cooked in butter and was perfect! The crab imperial had large pieces of jumbo lump crab and the sherry cream sauce was well-balanced. We shared a piece of their famous Italian wedding cake and we both loved it! Someone said they don’t always offer it, so if you see it, get a slice! It is the perfect end to a very enjoyable meal.

I absolutely love this restaurant! One of the best Italian restaurants in the area. My husband, family, and I were all sad when the restaurant caught on fire back in 2013. We were extremely excited when they reopened back in November 2014, exactly a year after the fire. The food is excellent and very well prepared. Those saying that it is overpriced are wrong. Yes you are paying more, but you aren’t paying for something that is prepared elsewhere and all they need to do is heat it up. I find the price fits the meal as the food is always delicious and very well prepared. Recipes are through the family so you will get an authentic Italian meal. I usually get my favorite — a Caesar salad with extra croutons, the Garlic Toast, and Vitello Umberto without the mushrooms. The service is always fast and the atmosphere is just right. The staff is very friendly, always welcoming and the owner is usually walking around talking to customers and guests. You will find that you can sit in two different sections; The fine dining section and the casual dining section. If you’re looking for something more dressy and fancy, sit on the fine dining side! If you are just popping in for a quick meal, the casual side would be more fitting for you. Overall I give this family-owned restaurant 5 stars as it is one of my favorites with all of this factored into it! :)

We tried this place twice and just didn’t have great meals. We were so excited when this place reopened since we just moved to the area and this place is not too far from us. Unfortunately the food is just ok:(we will not be back anytime soon.

Man. Wanted to love this place. Cool location and very little Italian restaurants in the area. The dining area just does not have any personality. Really bland, and has so much potential to warm this place up. The food was actually pretty good. Not the great stuff I can get on every block in South Philly but it was decent. Just no atmosphere at all.

Mixed review as two enjoyed dinner and two were less than satisfied. Also — service was friendly enough but SLOW. Started with appetizers — the gnocchi was good once we figured out the sauce was under and not on the actual gnocchi. Bruschetta good but skimpy. The pasta sampler entrée was disappointing in that the meatballs were flavorless and the sausage had an odd texture. Lasagna was excellent. The Bobina was a huge hit. Every bite consumed of a very generous portion if crab and shrimp and filet. The Arturo was also a miss — red sauce bland. But the Frutti da Mare Julian was marvelous in spite of the gritty mussels. Rich creamy sauce over scallops and shrimp over pasta. Great dessert options — next time we’ll skip appetizers and save room. So a mediocre review on the food. The atmosphere is very old world — different from your average central PA dining experience.

Honestly, I’m torn on the rating for this place. The food was mostly 3, maybe even 4, stars, but the service, attitude, and price pulled the rating down. Plus, I hate giving bad reviews — everyone can have an off night. But seeing as Unilocal’s definition of two stars is «meh» — that was really my impression. I went to Visaggio’s with a friend after work for dinner. It was a very strange experience. We had made reservations since it was Friday night. My friend was in business attire except for her shoes, and I was wearing casual pants. Instead of being warmly greeted, we were looked at as if our clothes were inappropriate, like we didn’t «belong» there. Interesting attitude toward customers who had reservations and who were about to drop over $ 100 for dinner. The restaurant was quite empty, four or five tables total. The wines were great, the entrees really good. The pasta tasted fresh, and my friend raved about her fish. We ordered the appetizer gnocchi fritti; my friend liked it but I thought it was blah. The pots de crème were absolutely the highlight of the meal. That said, the waitresses treated us coldly, ignoring our table, getting short when we weren’t ready to order immediately after the cocktails arrived, delivering cold food… If we’d skipped the wine, we would’ve been ticked. The whole experience was really reminiscent of faded glory. Visaggio’s may have been great once, but right now, I would say it isn’t worth the price.

Food was very good and service was great. It’s a pricey place, so go knowing«bill creep» will be in effect. I’d go back for sure… for a special occasion.

I was surprised to read the negative reviews. I’ve always loved going to Visaggio’s for special occasions. Its casual fine dining, and has an old school italian /romantic vibe. Its a perfect«nice» date place. For appetizers I would recommend the peppers and sausage as my fave. then calamari, oysters, gnocchi, and stuffed mushrooms(haystacks). Don’t waste your money on a salad…(comes with entrees but not pasta dishes.) All of the pasta is homemade and therefore amazing. they have the best gnocchi in the area by far. The Filomena is a great sampler of all the pastas. St Gabriel’s Fire is my favorite entrée(or WAS i should say, before i stopped eating red meat) It is filet mignon medallions with portobello mushrooms and fried eggplant with bacon and a spinach cream sauce…(get a side of gnocchi with it!) They make some killer veal dishes as well. Okay when it comes to desserts its pretty much heaven… I almost always get the Pots de Crème.(which is like chocolate bliss) however it is imperative that you ask if they have their Italian wedding cake… i don’t believe that its on the menu but i know they have it occasionally and it is the best cake i have ever had. I really enjoy Visaggio’s and If you enjoy authentic italian food and want to dish out a little extra for a nice dinner try it out

I’ve driven by this place for years, and kept saying«one day I have to try it.» I finally did tonight, and I’m regretful. Decent wine list. We chose Riesling by the glass… nothing stunning, but fair pricing and good options to choose from. The crusty bread was tasty. I think they must bake it fresh; while it wasn’t «amazing,» it was the highlight of the meal. The starter salad was a bit odd — mixed greens with a couple of mandarin orange slices and a half slice of canned pineapple. The fact that another reviewer raved about the Seafood Ravioli is an absolute statement about taste being subjective. I found it to be disgustingly overcooked, understuffed, and watery with a sauce that was nearly flavorless. At almost $ 30, this entrée was a complete bomb. I ate a few bites, but it was too gross. What a bummer… I love ravioli, I love seafood, I love Italian food… this was a yuck on all counts, though. The server seemed nice enough, but ignored us to the point that I wasn’t sure we were getting the check. What a mistake this place was… by its history, I have to assume this place might have been great at some point, but my opinion is that it’s obviously resting on its laurels these days. Overpriced, bland food and disinterested servers… I recommend skipping this one.

We stopped looking for a good dinner break on our long drive from Virginia to NYC and what good luck. At arrival we thought we were at a catering hall, but upon being seated we were greeted by Joan, a freindly efficient server with great personality in a lovely setting. The food was great! The pasta’s all homemade– served with a great house salad(try the spicy french dressing). The meatball’s were fabulous, the veal tender and the pork out of this world. What a wonderful break! Our biggest problem is it is too far away to head back for another dinner.

Okay. I might be a food snob on this one. The pasta was ok. either made that day or week but made in house. The sauce however is not that fresh or flavourful. Salad wasn’t crisp at all, bread was okay but I wouldn’t say fresh. Nice calamari but my fish was a but undercooked and definately thawed to order. I would agree that the waitress was a bit trashy. I hate using that word but she sucked all the borderline fine dining experience out of the room. My grandparents would like this place due to the type of italian they serve and the menu, but there are far better Italian places with fresh foods, finer dining and cheaper. I won’t be paying $ 33 + dollars for frozen Seabass cooked in butter again.

Cosmopolitan — absolutely delicious. Bread with«hot pepper» olive oil — not so hot, but so tasty. Seafood Ravioli — so incredibly amazing I saved the last bite til after I wiped all the sauce on bread and ate that! The service — not so great, and the waitresses look sort of trashy. But the food is so good, you’ll suck it up. This is a great place for a romantic dinner or a nice birthday with friends — or just a place to treat yourself. Throw the diet out the door and enjoy the delicious Italian cuisine in a beautiful setting.
