Eat This has joined the Emmaus Farmers Market this year… giving me yet another deliciousness to eat all season long! Finding regular preserves & jams has never been hard at EFM, but pickled vegetables? Bacon marmalade? Tomato jalapeño marmalade? Those are a nice niche and AMAZING. Big hunk of fougasse from Saxman, some cheese from BAD Farm and some of Eat This’s bacon marmalade made for a delicious post church & market lunch at our house. I don’t think the price is unreasonable if you want to buy small batch, local goods. And the guy at the table was full of help when I was deciding what to taste. I love that he uses reusable jars… I get something cute for my table until it’s done, and then it’s back to the market for a dollar back and another jar purchased to come home. But based on how my husband wolfed more than his fair share of bacon marmalade, I’m guessing we will become a multi jar family shortly…

Eat This sells a fairly diverse group of pâté, pickled vegetables, jams, marmalades and desserts. You can buy their stuff either through their website or at one of the farmers markets that they set up at such as Stockton or Saucon Valley. Now there are two things worth noting with their products: 1. They are very, very expensive. Charging $ 8.00 or more for a small five or nine ounce jar isn’t exactly going to win you a huge following because no matter how good things may taste, people are going to walk on by without trying anything as soon as they see the price. This was confirmed by another vendor at the Saucon Valley Farmers Market who told me that while the flavors are solid, people are scared off because of the prices. 2. Speaking of the flavors, they are kick ass. I bought a small jar of the bacon marmalade and it was amazing! On a burger? Hell Yeah! On a grilled cheese? Damn Right! I also tried some of the peach jam and it was very good. (The lovely wife’s is better but then again I am contractually obligated to say that.) I mean if you’re one of those Bucks County Yuppie types who has more money than God then by all means knock yourself out because Eat This delivers big flavor on all fronts. They also deliver big prices which is going to keep the common man such as myself away permanently or buying only as a rare splurge. (He’ll take $ 1.00 off a future order if you bring back the glass jar.)
