Delightful indeed! Perfect place for a delicious, relaxed breakfast on a Sunday morning. Not too crowded or noisy. It was busy, but still had this very relaxed vibe. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had the Brioche French Toast and savored every bite, between sips of their amazing coffee.

Went here for breakfast on my birthday and got a free pastry! Their pastries are amazing. Wife got french toast and I got an omelette. Both were excellent. Loved it as always!

For us, we were somewhat underwhelmed by this Delight of France. We came here for a Sunday brunch and sadly found the prepared dishes were m’eh at best. The baked goods and pastries on the other hand, were excellent. We ordered the Scrambled Egg and roasted potatoes(photo), along with the oversized Croissant Roast Beef sandwich. The egg dish was bland and devoid of any seasoning or taste. It seemed pre-cooked which was surprising since it took over fifteen minutes to reach our table. As for the roast beef(photo), it was thickly cut and you really needed to work your jaw to bite into it. I ended up cutting it with a knife and fork and didn’t finish it. The croissant however was flakey and good. If we come back, that’s what we would order. Sorry, maybe it was the cook’s day off.

Best breakfast I’ve had in Escondido! You can taste how the ingredients are locally sourced and everything is homemade!

The food is so wonderful and so are the pastries… but service at the counter is SOSLOW. Why hasn’t the owner gotten a hint yet to modernize the process of ordering food and drinks? Help these counter employee kids out! INVEST in an electronic TICKETSYSTEM for the cooks! Seriously, I’ve gone to many bakeries and cafes in France and they were five times as fast, so don’t blame it on the French artistic café culture. ;-)

Be ready to wait long long time. We ordered coffee and waited for 15 min! Crazy. Especially when the restaurant is almost empty. Food is good, but service is slow and bad.

Amazing service! Friendly staff, both times I’ve gone I only wait 5 – 10 minutes for my food and it is very delicious! I love their grilled chicken panini!

My Friend and I decided to try out Brunch at this cute French restaurant today. I fell in LOVE with the pastries /Desserts. We both ended up trying the Egg, bacon and avocado breakfast Croissant. It was delicious! I can’t wait to come back and try out the rest of the menu. Parking is a bit hard to find later on in the day, but if you come a little early you should be fine. I like the vibe in downtown Escondido. It’s always so relaxing and chill. I believe they have farmers market on Thursdays too. You can grab a quick bite and then do a little shopping …

If I could give it NEGATIVE Stars I would!!! This place Sucks!!! The service is not wonderful and the prices are ridiculous and not worth paying. They burned my brioche French toast and all I could taste with the first bite was burnt tasting toast. Turn around and try another place to eat!!!

A Delight of France catered a baby shower I hosted. Alberta is absolutely great to work with! She will help you build a menu to your tastes. We had a French brunch for 55 guests and all the food chosen was delicious! Sandwiches, quiche, salads, croissants, yogurt bar, herbed potatoes, and a plethora of mini desserts. The presentation was great and above all else, the service was impeccable. We needed another table and Alberta ran to her storefront to pick one up for us to borrow. The dessert table was absolutely gorgeous with the tiered server Alberta brought. Our guests loved the food and there was plenty for people to take home, which made them all happy. Thank you, Alberta and A Delight of France! I can’t recommend them enough for dining in(which I have done before) and for any catering needs.

Another great one of a kind restaurant in Escondido! This place is really cute, makes a great espresso and really nails it in the bakery department I had a croissant breakfast sandwich with roasted potatoes. The croissant was really good and fresh but the potatoes will have me coming back here. I LOVE breakfast potatoes but I find most places don’t do them very well. The ones here are simple and perfect — crispy but fluffy, seasoned just right, not greasy. I’ve only been here once but definitely will be back.

Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. I didn’t think that I could get a better breakfast than from a few of the more traditional breakfast spots in esco. This place was a great find. With the tragedy in Paris, this place caught my eye. It’s easy to find right off grand ave, parking can be pretty tough in the morning. The waiter told me they great really busy in the morning, I came in with my dad at the end of the morning so it was dead but I recommend heading in early if you want some breakfast. I got the 3 egg omelet with spinach, tomato, sausage, and feta. Along with some blood orange tea. My dad got the breakfast crêpe. My omelette was solid, but their garlic potatoes were awesome! I really enjoyed them. Each meal at A Delight in France comes with a croissant, and they are some of the best! My dads breakfast crêpe was also really good, he said it was the best breakfast he’d had in a long time. My orange blood tea was also really tasty! I have to my say I had a great meal and will totally be back. Not only was the food great but we had really good service! Great find! P. s. I grabbed some cream puffs, they were great as well.

My boyfriend and I went for breakfast Sunday morning. No reservation needed. Mimosas were inexpensive and delicious. Food came out at just the right time. I ordered the Croissant French Toast. I kid you not, dear readers, it was the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. I generally prefer savory rather than sweet, especially for breakfast, but this was perfect. Fresh strawberries and banana, shaved almonds, the freshest croissant I’ve ever had, including those eaten in France. This place is a true hidden gem. I absolutely recommend!!!

A Delight of France is Escondido’s classiest breakfast option especially when compared to the greasy spoons that make up the majority of Escondido’s morning options. Sitting down you’ll likely hear conversations of politics, current events, and heartfelt conversions between old friends. Breakfast is order up front and they’ll bring your food to your table. I ordered the French Scrambled eggs with potatoes(includes coffee and a mini-baguette bread or croissant). I also tried the build your own omlette(Provolone + Spinach + Bacon) which were all high quality ingredients. All of this was topped off by a good drip coffee(I thought the Delight of France blend was the best). Both breakfast items were delicious and memorable. I can’t wait to come back!

If you don’t want to read the following novel, here a brief summary: EATHERE! A good friend of mine is visiting from Arizona and she is staying with me for the holiday weekend. I just moved to Escondido a few weeks ago, so when she suggested we go out to breakfast I didn’t actually have any places to suggest. We browsed through nearby restaurants on Unilocal and since we had previously enjoyed a French restaurant and bakery near my previous home in Rancho Bernardo we decided to try our luck again. Our experience today was phenomenal. Absolutely outstanding. The place was significantly larger than I expected and the décor was beautiful. It definitely has a family-owned feel in a very welcoming and home-y way. I was immediately impressed with the staff. Having been a food service manager for several years, I always find myself very aware of how food service employees behave while at work. I can say that while I was there ALL of the employees appeared to be hard at work and everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Other than a few tables that had yet to be cleared, everything else was clean and well-kept. Together, these things are oftentimes a rarity in our world today. At this place patrons can order their food at the counter and then seat themselves. A server will deliver the food and bring anything else requested. Today a girl named Allison assisted us and she was absolutely wonderful. There was a very minor mix up with our food(our breakfast came with fruit and it was accidentally forgotten) but she was extremely apologetic and brought the fruit out in less than a minute. She was very bubbly and eager to help us with anything we needed. Another thing she did that I always especially appreciate is she sincerely thanked us for coming in and invited us back. This is another thing that employees often won’t do but it really makes a big difference. I have to say this is one of my best service experiences ever. Now onto the food… A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. We both ordered the French breakfast(I think?). It was the scrambled eggs with fresh herbs and shallots served with seasoned potatoes, fresh fruit, and the choice a croissant or something else. We got the croissants so I can’t remember what the other option was. I don’t think I can ever order scrambled eggs at any other restaurant ever again. The servings were huge and I couldn’t finish it despite how delicious it was. I took the rest home and can’t wait to devour it tomorrow morning. Also, I am VERY picky when it comes to coffee. Actually, I take picky to a whole new level. When I saw the canisters of coffee sitting at their coffee stations(similar to Panera), I had low expectations. I was so surprised when I added my cream because it didn’t instantly turn the coffee white. The coffee was strong, flavorful, and not burned or watery. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Wonderful experience. Can’t wait to come back.

Who knew Escondido had a slice of France? To start our morning off right, my friend and I stopped in at A Delight of France, located in downtown Escondido. We were concerned about the busyness of this café on a Sunday morning, but to our surprise it was mellow and not crowded at all. The staff was warm, welcoming, and eager to take our orders. They’re so quick here that I didn’t even notice one of the servers from the back head to our table to deliver my tea, and I had just placed the order. For my breakfast, I ordered the Fantastic Frittata served with an upgraded chocolate croissant on the side. I chose bacon, mushrooms, and spinach for my fillings and goat cheese to top. The frittata itself wasn’t «fantastic.» It was bland, and the creamy goat cheese was too rich and overpowering. On the other hand, my large chocolate croissant was a delight; though, the chocolate sauce drizzled all over did make this a messy eat. Perhaps this café’s forte lies in its desserts and pastries, but I was underwhelmed by the food that I ordered.

One of the first places I discovered when I first moved to Esco some 12 years ago and I hadn’t been back in a LONG time… apparently there are new owners, but I visited on Friday for breakfast and I enjoyed it. There was only once group in front of me in line when I got there so that gave me time to decide what to order. I ordered the frittata with mushrooms, tomatoes, and two kinds of cheese and had the hardest time decided between a croissant and the baguette, but went baguette. Both were DELISH. So much food, but I made a good show of it. Only bummer was boring machine iced tea instead of fresh brewed. Service was good, bathroom was clean. I will return and I won’t wait years this time!

This little eatery/café in downtown Escondido is a solid 3 stars. Considering the locale and the type of restaurant it is I will give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps, my friend and I just stopped in on an off day. We arrived in the morning around 9AM. This is a place where you order at the counter and wait for your food to be delivered. Service was fast and the staff were very friendly. I opted for their«Two French scrambled eggs(with fresh herbs and shallots), with garlic potatoes and choice of bread». I decided on getting the baguette, which I thought was OK. The eggs were surprisingly«hard» scrambled — typically when I think of «French» scrambled eggs I assume they will be «soft» scrambled, but these were not. The herbs were a nice addition, but these eggs were nothing amazing. However, the potatoes were quite delicious, spiced perfectly, not mushy. I only had about half of them however as the serving was generous. My meal also came with a coffee, which I got from a self-service bar, and it was decent. Considering the fact that I was excited to eat here because I love French food, I was slightly disappointed in the experience/food that was served.

I can’t believe its taken me this long to write a review! DoF is my goto, default breakfast option. You’re greeted by the fenced, outdoor seating area which just seems to invite you to a sunny nook where you can sip your coffee and wake up at your own pace. Inside is an open, bright atmosphere that smells of deliciousness. Drawing you past the tables to the back counter to order are two shiny display cases packed with macaroons, croissants, popovers, eclairs, etc. Grab a menu and start the painful process of choosing only one portion, its gonna be tough. I get the breakfast sandwich w/bacon on a croissant. Its to die for. Something that keeps me coming back is the quiet atmosphere, and your choice of sun or shade. DoF really lets you start your day how you want to. :D
