The food was great. I got the one item carnitas plate. It came with the carnitas, tasty refried beans that they make with a bit of chorizo, cabbage salad and a tortilla it was all delicious. The only downside if there was one is that the restaurant itself is tiny. More of a to go kind of place. The people were really friendly too.

This is my place to go when I want good carnitas. I’ve had the chicken as well and it doesn’t disappoint. I have also tried the chorizo tacos (which is not always displayed on the menu) and they are good.
Portions are decent, salsa is spicy good, and the service is quick and friendly.
Practice speaking in Spanish and you’ll feel like you’re south of the border.

My sister, dad, and I found this place and it is amazing! The carnitas are not crispy fried, but full of tender chunks of meat – delicious. We tried their homemade sausage and I liked it so much, I bought two pounds to take home and bbq. Their beans are like no other I’ve tasted and, again, bought a large container to go. This is not your average taco shop and is worth trying. I will be visiting often and the owners are very sweet too!

My wife brought home a couple plates from this restaurant the other night for dinner. The carnitas was juicy and tender. The beans and side of cabbage was on par with the meat. This place is all good. It’s obvious they know what they are doing and they care about the food that they put on the plate.

With Carnitas in the title, and the location in the heart of Escondido, I had high expectations. It was a good sign when almost everyone there was speaking Spanish. The place looks like it’s funded by a hipster investor, but the staff and food seems very authentic. The Carnitas burrito lived up to expectations. Best one I’ve had in awhile.

Great, tender, delicious, beautifully marinated & spiced meats. Will go back for sure. The issue’s we had are the small plastic forks are not able to pick up much, and you really want to shovel huge bites into your mouth! Also VERY limited seating. Only seats maybe 8 people in the entire place, ½ outside. In the recent heat that is hard to do. Plus you will be batting at flies through your meal. Maybe «to go» is better?!

WOW this place is amazing I will be coming here multiple times a week. The pork carnitas are bomb and so is everything else I had. I got the entrée plate with 1 meat and it was so delicious. Get the green sauce it is the best. You will be highly delighted you ate here, that’s a promise!!!

Size isn’t everything. This place is small but packs a large punch. I had the pork carnitas with beans, rice, and an amazing cilantro cabbage salad/​coleslaw. It came with 3 tortillas, salsa, and a whole chili pepper. It was all outstanding. Great flavor. And the price was right. The lady at the counter was sweet and informative, answered every question I had. I highly recommend this restaurant. Keep up the great work.

A lot of my co workers have gone to this gem and keep bragging about how good it is so I finally went and I was not disappointed. They serve some of the best pork carnitas i have ever had in the states. I highly recommend this place.

This place is a hidden gem! The entrée plate comes with a large portion of meat, beans, rice, and cabbage salad. After three huge tacos I still had some to take home. The meat is so flavorful and moist! Definitely recommend the carnitas! The salsas are roasted and delicious with a kick of spice. Looks family owned and the service is quick and friendly!

This rating is based on quality and portion size. The carnitas are mouth watering good. Everything I had hoped for. You are better off ordering by the pound since the entrée meat portions are kinda small. My Beau ordered the 2 meat entrée plate and I ordered a pound of pork carnitas. He devoured his plate, thank goodness I had ordered the pound of carnitas. All in all a great find and new addition to the mexican food scene in escindido, hopefully they enlarge their meat portions cause I can’t get enough of those carnitas.

Just had to try this place after driving past for a few weeks. Let me say I’m glad I did. I think this qualifies as a hole in the wall, but for a small place, the flavors are big ! Was offered a scrumptious sample as soon as I walked in just before closing. asked if I would have time to eat and was told no problem I got the pork and chicken plate both were very good. The beans are unique, as least to me, and good, the rice was just average. Potions are on the large size so you should have plenty to eat. Plates come with tortillas and was asked if I needed more. This is a family operation and is closed I think on Monday and Tuesday so check on that. Kinda suited for to go but there is a 3 stool counter and a small table outside. Overall a great experience. Will be back.

Hubby saw a post about this restaurant on FB and we decided to try it out! All I can say very satisfied! We had the chicken plate w/​rice, & beans. Very delicious and the portions were just perfect! Defiantly recommend! :).

Place is impeccably clean & staff is extremely friendly — ready to greet you with a SMILE. The carnitas are to die for, I felt I was at my grandpa’s ranch in Mexico minus the grease hahaha. Salsas are homemade and have the perfect amount of spice. My carnitas plate was fresh and flavorful. I will definitely make another trip to dine here.
