I tried the hummus. It was seven dollars for a good portion of hummus but a very small portion of pita bread. The hummus was grainy, not creamy which I prefer. Nope I’m not coming back.

I came here because I saw the great reviews on Unilocal, but I was sadly disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Kabob Plate and I thought it was on the expensive side for what I recieved-13 $. My plate came with very little chicken, which had a weird texture/consistency. It was overcooked, but slimy? They weren’t kabobs either, just pieces of chicken. Most of the food in the box was white rice, with few pieces of chicken and oily vegetables on top. The restaurant was dirty too which is never a good sign. There’s really no customer service either. What I did really like was the salad! The dressing had nice flavor and they didn’t skimp on the feta cheese or toppings.

My husband and I ordered a grilled chicken salad with grilled veggies. It was delicious. The pita bread served on the side was fresh and light. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Delicious delicious delicious… This little spot is definitely a hole in the wall but the flavors they produce is definitely worth a return visit. Their food is ridiculous good and their portions are worth every penny. Not fancy at all but they provide above average utensils plates cups that makes you feel like you are at a fancy place. Definitely recommend this little joint. I order the vegetarian plate and every little thing on it is amazingly good.

Wow… just WOW! Thanks to the help of Unilocal we found this little place on our hunt for gyros! I ordered the gyro pita and hubby ordered the gyro plate. SOMUCH food! I absolutely LOVED my gyro! The meat was crisp, seasoned perfectly, the tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and feta were fresh and delicious! I cannot stress enough how huge it was! There was so much meat, I took half off to bring home! Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his gyro plate too. That was the best gyro I have ever had!

By far the best Gyros I’ve ever had. I live in Sacramento but travel to Escondido to visit my daughter. Shhh, don’t tell my daughter, but I actually travel to Escondido for Pita King Gyros! :) Seriously, if you’re looking for authentic and great tasting Greek food with ENORMOUS portions, then you’ve come to the right place. I thought The Kebab Shop was great but they can’t hold a candle to Pita King. I think the owner’s name is Bobo. He’s always friendly and remembers me each time I’m in town. Wonderful food and a friendly staff.

Stopped in to Pita King for a take-out lunch on Wednesday. Ordered(2) gyro sandwiches, and the bag weighed a ton so we knew these would be big! Got home and was blown away by the amount of meat. We ordered them with«everything», which I know includes feta cheese but it also had veggies, too. Took 4 bites and both of us looked at each other — these were SO salty you just couldn’t eat them. Removed the feta to see if that helped, it didn’t. So don’t know if the grilling made them salty or if the veggies had too much salt. Don’t know if we should try them again? Was this an off day? Unilocalers: if we go back, should we order the gyros without veggies or?

I think the food and the prices are good. They give a good a amount of meat and veggies. My only complaint would be the customer service. They’ve looked annoyed that I’m ordering or that I’m using the Unilocal coupon. If they don’t want people to use it then don’t have it.

Don’t let the hole in the wall scare you away. The food here is top notch. I have lived in the area for about 16 months and never went in because it was next to a gas station and looked sketch. I was wrong. Great food.

In the last 3+ years I’ve had their food I have never — not once — not been amazed at how top notch their stuff is. Freshly cooked, perfectly prepared. Awesome. Just delicious. Are you feelin’ me? And, hey, I was married to a Greek woman whose whole family cooked like crazy, and I have also traveled there, too, so yeah, I’m kind of a big deal. People know me. So you stay classy, San Marcos, and eat at this place. Thank me later. Yasou, bitches! Ron B.

Excellent food, generous, well made, great marinade on the meats. I appreciated the hard work performed by the owner and will come back for sure. I wish their location was better would be my only very slight complaint. Thank you all for your great food and hospitality.

Good luck trying to get in here if you are in a wheelchair. My wife and I parked and made our way from the only handicap spot in the lot down the sidewalk. The sidewalk is so cracked, slanted and narrow that when I tried to maneuver around their open door my wheelchair was thrown off the sidewalk and had my wife not grabbed me I would have fallen out of my chair. No one even came out to offer any help to the person who almost cracked his skull in front of their restaurant. This is completely unacceptable and they will not be getting my money. Don’t waste your time.

Stopped by for lunch today, called in for a order to go. Ordered the Falafal sandwich, with everything, wick consists of most of the usual, lettuce, tomato, onions, also had green peppers in it which was a good add on, I added the feta for $ 1, total $ 10, a lil high for a Falafal sandwich usually but ok. It did lack the pickled beats tho, but overall was a fat stuffed tasty sandwich! A half would probably do if they sold half. Order was ready by times got there, about 10 min. Will stop by again, sandwich was really really good!

Saw the $ 4 off coupon on Unilocal, had an appetite for something meaty(high protein), and I was in the mood to test new waters . Sure glad I did. The food here is delicious. The main ingredient in a pita in the meat, and I have to say this was probably the most tender and delicious lamb gyros meat I’ve ever had . The pita bread, veggies, ect were also up to par, making it a great meal altogether . A little pricey, but if they have their Unilocal coupon available you can’t complain. 5 stars

Kindof a dumpy random place but honestly the food is pretty dang good. We were craving a falafel pita and some fries so I cruised over. It was an odd experience as the owner was the only one working. He can’t hear very well when he is in the kitchen so he takes your order while standing out front then he goes into the kitchen and makes it. I had a few special requests so he told me to hang on and he would check with me before he finished. So literally when he was almost done with the order he called me over to the window into the kitchen and I told him my special requests. He came back out and rang me up. When I got the order home I was delighted how amazingly delicious the food was. I had the falafel pita and fries. It’s extremely messy but the tahini he uses is absolutely delicious and was stuffed when I was done. If you’re in the area and want some random delicious Greek food, this is your spot!

This place is real close by from where I live and has been here for quite sometime. I’m not big on greek food but can appreciate there gyro wraps and plates. Usually there are quicker options across the street via drive-thru but was looking for something healthier without having to drive more than a mile. So recently gave this place a try. Atmosphere: Located next to Circle K gas station. Walking in is a small/moderate size restaraunt that without 10 tables. Menu is written above the register/counter. Prices are all the take-home menu paper(which was easier to follow). Mediterranian décor from the floors to the tables. With a few landscapes on the wall. Only 2 workers there, I’m thinking the owner who is also the chef and his assistant. It wasn’t busy at all only one person ordering take out before I placed mine. But seems like people who called in there order were coming in for take-out. Food: –Gyro Plate –gyros(heavy portion) –Combinationg Plate –gyro(good seasoning. not dry.) –chicken(seasoned perfectly. nice and tender. one of the best i’ve tried) –Spanakopita Plate –spanakopita(my fiancée’ ordered this. said it was ok.) ALLPLATES come with. –yellow rice(lots of rice)(lightly seasoned) –pita bread(about 6 triangle slices, nice and soft) –side greek salad(hefty portion. comes already dressed. olives have seeds) Service: Friendly. Food made-to-order. 15mins as said to get 4 plates out for my take-out order. Overall: Awesome greek food. Portions are HUGE! 1 plate can feed 2 people. I couldn’t finish my food so I had left overs to bring for work. Great quality. If you’re looking for greek food in Escondido and don’t want have to drive all the way to San Marcos this a nice high quality alternative. Will come back to try their wraps and other items. Checked in via Unilocal and 2 gyro plates for $ 18(a great deal)

Remember to check-in to get a 2 plates for $ 18 deal. I didn’t use the deal but it’s a steal! Food: — Hummus: homemade garbanzo bean spread and pita triangles. Good but very oily. I feel like it was lacking something. 3⁄5 — Chicken kabok sandwich: charbroiled chicken with grilled vegetables wrapped in a pita. The vegetables were a little overcooked. It had too much of a charbroiled taste for my liking. The chicken was tender and delicious but the giant pieces of chicken were all on the bottom. For the first half of the sandwich, I seriously thought I was given a veggie sandwich by mistake. The second half of the sandwich was literally all chicken. I wish there was more of a balance. 3.5÷5 Service: Quick and friendly. 3.5÷5 Final thoughts: I would come back and try the gyro. My husband ordered the gyro plate and I had a piece and the meat was very tasty and tender.

Don’t let the looks fool you. This little hole in the wall Greek joint may not have much curb appeal but the food is awesome! We have the gyro plate deal which is a great value for the quality and quantity of food you get. The grilled veggies are done to perfection. The Unilocal map was wrong on the location on our visit. West of I-15 in same parking lot as gas station across from Vons.

Pita King has the characteristics of a hole in the wall eatery. It’s in a random location, it doesn’t have a lot of space and isn’t the cleanest place, but it has surprisingly good food with exceptional value especially when utilizing the Unilocal check-in offer. Came in for dinner and ordered the 2 Gyro Plates Unilocal special. I requested to substitute fries on one of the plates, which cost a couple bucks extra. The food came out in good time, and wow, was it a lot! Everything was piled on that it seemed more like a portion for four people rather than two. The lamb was thick, the pita and fries crisp, the rice flavorful, and the salad filling. We had to go to the cart with boxes readily available to pack what we couldn’t finish. Good food, great value, and decent service. I understand why people advocate for Pita King!
