Best service I Have ever received at a grocery store. Thank You Jessica R. Making this place look good. :)

I used to always shop at Vons because it was close to where I lived. I love the Vons on Clairemont Mesa in Tierrasanta. All the employees are very friendly, helpful, and some people always recognized me for shopping there so often. Recently, I just moved to Escondido and don’t shop at Vons now very often. Since the one time I visited this location, I will not enter another Vons again because of the horrible customer service I had to experience.
As I’m standing in line waiting to check out, I noticed the cashier by the name Mike Mena (from my receipt) did not greet the customer in front of me with a «hi or bye.» When it was my turn to check out, I too did not get a greeting or any words spoken to me. «Whatever. He’s probably just having a bad day» I thought to myself. Standing there, I notice… 1 cashier, 1 bagger, and another random girl standing in between? At first she was doing nothing, then after awhile she «pretends» to be bagging also. Just thought she may have been new and training or something, I mean she did look like she was 12. When I see my grand total — swiped my card, pin number, blah blah blah just waiting on the cashier… and waiting… He turns around with his back facing me as him and the young buck are taking a selfie? Maybe 2 or 3. Then he barely half-​ass turns his body slightly and says «Your total is… «He then turns back around and continues taking more selfies with this girl. Ummm. I’m just standing there feeling awkward the whole time because I’ve actually been waiting on him a lot longer than he thinks just to click a button. I look at the customer behind me and we both shrug our heads like «What the F*&%? Is he serious right now?» They both giggled and acted like they were being sneaky like no one saw them. The girl then walks off as her business there is done. He hands me my receipt, says nothing. As I’m grabbing the last of my bags, I notice he also does not greet the man next in line. By this time I’m super annoyed and just want to leave.
As I’m putting groceries into my car, I just had the feeling that I should probably check my receipt since I bought a couple things that were «buy 1, get 1 free.» Just as I thought, I was charged for 2 things that wasn’t supposed to be. I really didn’t want to go through the hassle of having to go back inside but figured the $ 20.00 would be worth it. I go to customer service and explain myself. After I finish my schpeale, the guy says that the lady standing right next to him the whole time can help me with that because he’s about to leave. The lady by the name of Mayra says «OK. What was that?» Umm. weren’t you just standing there the whole time. You weren’t paying attention? Now I have to repeat myself?! As I’m explaining myself again to this lady, she rudely interrupts me and starts another conversation with some other employee that is walking by. Rude much?! As she’s giving me my refund, she yells across the aisle to that one Mike Mena guy. «You better not be messing with my phone.» Then I tell her «He’s too busy taking selfies and wasn’t paying attention. That’s probably why he…» She interrupts me and gets defensive and says «Oh no, no no… It’s our system. It always does that!!» First of all, if you know it’s your system that automatically does that, it shouldn’t make it ok and you should probably do something to get it fixed so people won’t get screwed over. & second, why the hell are you so defensive and so quick to respond? Sounds like she’s trying to defend her friend… The only reason why I even said that to Mayra was because I noticed that her name tag said «supervisor». Great, wonderful, professional supervisor you’ve got there Vons Felicita… and even bigger bravo for the shitty customer service. Will never shop at a vons again. It’s like a horrible taste that’s been left in my mouth.

Friendly & helpful staff this morning on both ends of the store. Limited meats this morning but great selection otherwise.

The man at the deli was SO rude. He made one sandwich for me then tore his gloves off threw the knife down and said okay you’re done. I had other sandwiches to order but was unable to due to this older mans obscene temper. The whole time he was making my sandwich too he was banging the mayo and mustard aggressively and sighing like he was annoyed.

I work near this location so I have on an occasion stopped to obtain a few needed items. My major issue with this location is that it is poorly designed (large poles throughout). These could easily be bumped into and could present a danger. Also, the workers are far less friendly then some of their counter part stores. I find items more difficult to find and the employees are less willing to help.

I have been coming to this location for a long time. I have never had an issue and I always find what I need. Employees are always helpful and nice.

Rude cashier, Western Union doesn’t work, Why they have western union if they can’t provide the service.

Service: no smiles from the cashier. I entered my Von’s number and she didn’t tell me if it even went through. I didn’t see any discount on the receipt. If it didn’t go through, she should have offered to sign me up.
Parking: lot was very busy on a Sunday morning, but we didn’t have an issue parking.
Atmosphere: store seemed a little small and compact compared to other grocery stores. Nothing was unorganized, but I just felt like it was cluttered. All of the shelves were well stocked. Prices are average. They have a coin star machine behind the registers. Magazines are also sold here on a large rack. You can also buy prepaid cell phones. There is a check cashing at the customer service desk. You can also purchase debit cards here. There is a Starbucks inside and makes that section smell good. Very few tables to sit at if you buy something.

I cannot stand this Vons. There are only 2 check outs open, and the one lady that is a total snob is Mayra. She just smirks at you and just her overall appearance makes you want to barf. She thinks she high and mighty. Listen sweetheart, you are a cashier, not royalty. If you don’t like people, find a job that isn’t in customer service.

My husband and I were passing through Escondido and purchased a product that happened to be expired. When we called, managers Dorothy and Diana were extremely helpful in resolving the issue and gave us a full refund for the product that we bought. Despite the fact that those products should not have been on the shelf and the resolution took a long time, I truly appreciate their persistence and follow-​through. Great customer service!

It seems as though they make it a point to only open enough registers to ensure that there is always a long line. The employees seem nice enough, but between the prices and the lines– no thanks.

I love shopping at this location, the manager Erika is always very helpful to me when she is working there. I cash my check there occasionally, purchase money orders (which are only like 90 cents BTW), and I buy my food here as well. I always find the customer service to be friendly and helpful.

I have to shop here due to the convenience to where I live. Selection and deals are usually pretty good. The main issue I have is the lack of space per the check out and the sales floor. Lines are long– on average 2 check stands are operating making it slow and congested. Also, when you do get to the sales associate they greet you, but usually begin chatting amongst each other with the store’s latest gossip. Unfortunately you also hear about how much they hate their job, their boss or perhaps how under staffed that they are. If it was a one-​time occurrence I definitely wouldn’t think twice about it, because everybody has those moments at work. But it’s usually now the interaction that I expect when attending the store. There are some positive, the frozen yogurt shop next door is excellent, and they usually have good sale prices on beer and wine. Not every store can be like Ralphs, where you do pay a little extra, but you get treated like the valued customer by each individual. So overall they keep their store stocked, its got selections and good sales. But don’t expect to be getting above average customer service. Prepare yourself for lower average customer service

This Vons is A-​OK. Big selection of organic food and gluten free goodies for you. Parking is easy, but there seems to be a shortage of shopping carts here. This vons also has a gas station.

Not my favorite grocery store, almost always a long line to check out and the meat they sell is sub prime on most occasions.

Second time here since my last review.
This store seriously needs to rotate their product and pull the expired stuff from their shelves. Pulled 3, 4-​packs of Orgain Vanilla Shakes that had been expired since 12÷10÷14. Seriously!!! Whenever I grocery shop, I always pull from several boxes of product instead of the front facing one on the shelf. This store just seems to have a lot of products expiring soon. I gave this review 2 stars, because the lady that helped me, Erika, was very nice and super apologetic. She kept apologizing after I said nothing and in her final attempt to say sorry again, I said «I guess it’s alright, just tell your stockers to do a better job!». I hope they know what an asset she is to the company. Hire quality not quantity.

I came in on Christmas Day and although my cashier should have been bummed about not being home for the holidays, she was still cheery, helpful and not pushy at all about getting me to sign up for the store card. One of my biggest pet peeves is pushy associates who don’t understand the meaning of, «NO, I don’t want a store card.» Erika gets that, and she actually made me want to sign up for the card. We saved a little over $ 8.oo on our wine and beer!
Erika and the other staff there were very helpful, offered genuine smiles and were very courteous. Also, the store was well stocked, and very, very clean. Too bad I live an hour away and only come up to Escondido during the holidays. This staff is much friendlier than that of my local grocery stores.

I have no idea what is up with this store lately. It’s super close to my house and I can usually find everything I need at Vons, but something is amiss. Lately the shelves are half-​empty, the produce has seen better days and there are not enough checkers working at any given time. I get the feeling they are getting ready to close this store so they are paring down little by little.
What is up guys? We still need to shop! Get it in gear or GTFO!!!

They sell kombucha here for 2.99 a bottle. You can buy a box (12 bottles) if you plan to buy in bulk.

Not a fan of this store! They do have good prices and I love the gas discount, however, I can’t stand the cramped aisles and looonnnnggg check out lines.
I think what really did it for me with this store was the day before Thanksgiving last year. They had 3 – 4 lanes open for express checkout, 10 item or less, and only 1 lane open for all else! Who has only 10 items or less the day before Thanksgiving!!! It was crazy! People were crashing into each try to get out of the way… it was down right rude! I called the manager (from the parking lot) because I was so bothered by this, she proceeded to tell me that all lanes were open? I told her I had just left and was still in the parking lot and that they WERE NOT all open! She insisted they were and offered no apology.
I try to avoid this store at all cost! Go across the street to Major Market or Trader Joe’s!
