Delicious, comparable to Manhattan Chinese takeout. We are grateful to have a quality CTO place in Essex. Steak and peppers is excellent. Delicious chicken wings, amazing hot and sour. Okay wonton soups. Really crispy spring rolls. I get Singapore rice noodles a lot because it is so good from here. I’m not really sure who orders these weird Chinese dishes– like peanut satay and other weirdo takeout food. This isn’t NOBU or mr.chows. Or China! Stay safe and order their populars and their best. Otherwise go somewhere else or better yet shop the frozen aisle(disgusting) and quit your bellyaching. When you complain about local restaurants in a small town you shut them down. And it takes yearssssss to bring in another restaurant that’s probably worse.

Twenty tries, progressively worse each time.(My husband works nearby and keeps hoping it will be good, yes he’s a derp) Good reviews are obviously people who don’t get out of Essex much. Garlic chicken was a bland brown and soggy mess. Not even salty. Just thick and flavorless sauce on overcooked veggies and slimy chicken. Dumplings both dry and greasy at the same time with an uninspired filling and a sad non zingy sauce. Sesame peanut noodles are a solid lump of indigestible carbs with a dollop of peanut butter and iceberg lettuce. Hot and sour soup beyond disgustingly congealed, greasy, and tasting of salt and starch.

Outstanding quality with fresh ingredients! If its not right, they will make it right! Prices are very fair and they serve the best chinese food in the tri-town area. Old Saybrook doesn’t compete! Everyone from Saybrook has an attitude regarding there chinese food! I would drive miles for Hongkong’ outstanding quality! Good people! Slight English barrier but they try hard! Need to start opening again on Sundays!

what ??? Sure it didn’t take long, so for take out, it works well. BUT, contrary to previous reviews, this really isn’t good Chinese food. I’d give it a C. A 4.5 on a 10 scale. I realize good Chinese is hard to come by in the area but come on — average at best.

Grabbed a quick take out and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The broccoli and chicken was fresh and cooked just right! The egg rolls were also very good. Not an easy find, but thanks to Unilocal, I found it! Located in a corner of a small shopping center– not far from the highway.

Take Out Joint! Excellent food, very rare in a take-out place. Hidden in the plaza, do not be put off by location or how it looks, easily the best around.

This place has been serving up very good Chinese Take Out for somewhere in the realm of 25 years. At the worst I’ve ever had it, it’s been good, and usually its darned good.

Best non-gourmet Chinese food place in the state, bar-none. Everyone in the tri-town area is spoiled by HKK, which is why there aren’t any reviews. In the past ten years, I’ve moved all throughout the state, and I’ve had my fair share of «other» Chinese fare. No comparison. From the Won Ton soup to the Boneless spareriibs(I DARE you to find better boneless ribs! Double dare), I’ve never been let down. Delicious, and consistently so.
