The worst food. The worst service! Meal was brought out in pieces. Toast with drinks! Then meals without pancakes. Then pancakes for one then the other. Lousy food worse service. Didn’t leave tip for first time in my life. AVOIDTHISDUMP

There was a few people in here when I came in my wife. However, we felt like we were bothering the waitress who was grumpy and indifferent. The coffee was terrible, weak, and not fresh. The food was mediocre at best. We didn’t have the warm, welcoming feeling that sometimes you get at diners. This was our 3rd place we frequented in Essington where the service was not great, the food mediocre, and the prices were too high and lacked value. I don’t recommend nor would I come here again.

Bad food. Bad service. They don’t take cards. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else.

Passed by the place many times but finally stopped in yesterday. Great experience via service, as well as the food. Value is unparalleled as well, as I had a hearty egg omelet yesterday which didn’t even break $ 10. I would definitely recommend this establishment

I don’t usually write bad reviews but this place was extremely dissapointing. The food was ok not terrible but not great. The waitress must have been a member of the family because there is no way they wouldn’t have fired her if she wasn’t. She’s just bad at being a waitress. Several people left after coming in because she didn’t even acknowledge them with a hello. She wasn’t very friendly, told people to be patient rather rudely when they simply asked when their food was done. I won’t be coming back

Absolutely excellent! From the friendly staff to the delicious chow, Mel’s was a great choice for early morning grub. Will definitely be coming back

Give this place your business you won’t be disappointed in prices and value. All last winter and into spring 2014 every time i wandered by there was a sign they were closed. Was sad because they are a staple in an area that really needs a diner. Just found out it was because they took the time to remodel. It is now freshened up and a nice diner like setting. Pretty string lights adorn the ceilings. Menu: Roast Beef Special for $ 8.95 which came with Soup, side salad, and 2 veggies plus a short Italian roll. There were 3 other specials for the same price with same sides. My «side» salad was chocked full of greens and iceberg, shredded carrots, cucumbers, paper thin onions, and slivers of lunch meat. Big enough for a small meal. The soup was hot and hearty. Glad they are back.

Great dinner, good prices friendly people always have news papers around for you to read, or hear some pretty funny stories if you take time to talk to the older gentlemen behind the register, never got his name though that might even be Mel. Used to go almost every Saturday, great dinner feel chrome walls, bar, or counter really, and decent sized booths

This place is my favorite kind of Diner. My girlfriend and I were off to an early morning breakfast at the Denny’s down the street only to find out that it was completely packed. Running short on time, we decided to improvise and ended up at this sleepy little place down the Industrial Highway. You can tell this place is strapped for business, and I can’t understand why. I ended up getting the«French Toast Deluxe» which included 3HUGE pieces of French Toast, 2 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, and home fries for $ 8.95(!). It was OUTSTANDING. The French Toast itself was enough to get your money’s worth. It’s got just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar and it was cooked perfectly, with the butter melting over it as it’s served to you. The home fries were as legit as you can get around this part of the country and the eggs and bacon were much better than Denny’s could have ever done. One thing before you get there though, they do NOT accept credit cards. But $ 25 is more than enough for two people… so only a bit of cash is needed. In conclusion, give this place your business. It’s awesome. And our waiter, Carol, was wonderful as well. If you get her, tip her handsomely. :-)
