The food is mediocre and the the portions are pretty small. The only abundance to be seen is in the price tag. My daughter and I had the salads with salmon added for $ 17 each, and they were tiny — not bigger than a dinner salad — but the chef spread out the lettuce leaves on a large plate as though it would be more filling that way. The leaves were dotted with minute fragments of smoked salmon and there were two thin slices of stewed pears perched on top of that. Look, we are not large people and don’t overeat. We order salads often, so we know what we should be getting. We asked the server specifically if the salads were entrée-sized and he said they were. We were starving after we ate and my daughter said later that she wanted to go back and get the other half of her salad. We definitely felt cheated by what we were charged for what we got. My sons had sandwiches, and they were okay tasting but also pretty small. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like to have a nice and satisfying meal. The only reason I’m giving it two stars instead of one is because it’s at the Stanley and is a cool place to eat.

$ 12 for hummus. Okay, sure, it’s a hotel bar. $ 2 for an additional piece of pita so we could finish said hummus, that’s just tacky. Especially after paying a $ 60 tab. Makes me very hesitant to shell out $ 300+ a night to stay here in the future.

I have to go three. I LOVED my drink(I had two). The redrum punch. Delightful, light and sweet. The hubby liked his first drink, a beer. He got a second the king coffee and thought there was WAY too much alcohol in it. We got dessert. I chose the caramel cheesecake, yum!!! And cute presentation. It was light and had lots of flavor. The hubby chose the baked Alaska and it was NOT good. Ick! I can’t even describe the taste. Our waiter was not the best either. He would disappear and after the hubby ordered his second drink, the waiter forgot about it until we asked. The bar is beautiful though, wood and glass. And it was neat to see all the celebrities that have signed pics.

We ate their on the patio last night. One of us got the risotto that was on the menu and supposed to have English peas and lots of mushrooms. They were not found at all in the dish at all and It was under cooked and crunchy. Another diner noticed our conversation with the wait staff and came over and said the exact same thing happened to her risotto order. They did remove the cost of the risotto from the bill. The wait person was attentive and helpful. I at this time would not recommend the risotto until the kitchen learns the ingredients in their menus and actually use them.

This was a shame. We ordered are food at 6 and it came at 7:00. After waiting an hour to be served we shaw are dishes and stared laughing. DONOTORDER the elk and the duck. The elk was a portion for a child and was tuff. Now let me talk about the duck. Calling this a meal was sad and just utterly disappointing. The duck tasted like jimmy dean sausage and jam. For this price I was just saying to my self NONO. This was not the worst part of the dish if you could image. My risotto was complete raw and mushy. The taste was horrendous and was more scary then the hotel ghost tour. Just don’t go it is just sad

The food here is ok, but it seems like a restaurant that really wants to be fancy except it isn’t quite. The portions are small and well plated. The restaurant is loud. The server was good. However, the original three hostesses were not. A friendlier shorter lady came over after we’d been waiting for a table and assisted us in finding a table. Those three young hostesses need some customer service training. Everyone else working at the hotel and restaurant seemed quite friendly and helpful to guests.

We stopped in for lunch and were so pleased. The menu here on Unilocal is outdated but the lunch selection was very delicious. Chef made a vegetarian option for me and my husband had a steak sandwich. Very tasty and excellent presentation. We had a wonderful server Jess who made the visit that much better. There is an excellent selection of drinks — we did order their twist on an Old Fashioned, that is made with a white oak glass(they light an oak plank on fire and put the glass over it so it gets the smoke), then the drink is poured in. Special whiskey for only the Stanley, And delicious Vermont maple syrup. Worth it. Dessert was fabulous too, we ordered the salted Carmel cheesecake, which was rich and perfectly balanced. Very impressed and would return next time we are in town.

We went for drinks early 4−6PM after a day of hiking. Expensive craft cocktails were exactly what you’d want for $ 12−17/ drink. High end liquor with well crafted ingredients. Old fashioned and mezcal mules were so good. We ate at the bar not the dining room because we were hungry before before dinner started at 5PM. Shrimp, turkey wrap, shoestring fries and chicken wings all were good. Ghost pepper jelly on the wings was good but came out not as hot(temperature) as we would have liked. Overall, the place has a unique atmosphere, good service with great drinks and tasty bar food.

A little creepy that I am now at home after visiting a few days ago and typing this review as The Shining plays on AMC on my tv… This place is spectacular. I sat at the bar and the décor was beautiful, bartenders were friendly and attentive, and food and drinks were delicious. I had the Lucky Lucy whiskey sipper and it was sweet and sour and I absolutely loved it. For lunch I had the Croque Monsieur and(while not as good as Disney) it was very good. I listened as one of the bartenders explained the process of serving absinthe and the beautiful presentation and if it weren’t the middle of the day I would have loved to try some! The only reason I give this place a 4⁄5 is that for the entire time we were there, the computers were down and upon us trying to pay it took the the servers a long time to figure out how to use the old method to take our cards. Overall, however, it was an awesome experience!

Ok I am updating my review I wish could only give 2.5 due to the price/quality combo but I’ll round it up due to the waitress. Due to the hotel messing up our reservation we had free food coupons here or we wouldn’t have returned after Friday. Friday he had the French onion soup — the«croûton» was 3 hard lumps of bread that looked like dumplings to me and he said were inedible, and a burger which I’m pretty sure was from a frozen pre shaped patty. I had Brussels sprouts which came cold and some hard as if undercooked while other burnt/crispy and the beets/ricotta/lemon appetizer it was pretty flavorless. When the waitress asked TWICE if he had a problem with the soup(she hadn’t given us time to try it yet the first time– you can tell they push them to turn tables here– she apologized for it being bad but did not remove it from the bill — I was trained in fine dining and the second someone doesn’t like something you take it away from the table and you remove it from the bill and offer something else.) The only saving grace about this meal was that it was free. Saturday we decided to share a steak, salad and mash potatoes and we had a much better experience. We got the mixed greens, Yukon gold mash, and the filet which came served on a round of crispy hash brown-like potatoes and spinach that was really good. He had a Bloody Mary which he said was good. It was a much improved upon and satisfying meal vs Friday. Due to the free daily vouchers from our reservation mishap we plan on eating here again and I will return to update the review again.

The hamburger was great. The Mac & Cheese appetizer was good. However, The Hotel should be ashamed of the price and value for the BLT wrap. It was supermarket grade processed meat served with cold fries for $ 17. We paid $ 16 for a one HUGE ice cube and 6 oz of REDRUM Punch. That’s Downtown Los Angeles pricing for b grade spirits. We expected much better from a kitchen attached to the Stanley. Learn from our mistake. Skip. This. Joint.

We enjoyed my birthday dinner here the food was really very tasty. I ordered the Cornish game hen and it tasted fabulous – tender and juicy and the skin was crispy. It was huge. I was a bit weary as there were areas of meat that were a bit pink – I wasn’t sure if it was the lighting or the meat – pretty sure it was the meat. But it was hot and now it’s the next day and I’m fine – so I assume it was safe. My husband enjoyed the elk stake tenderloins and it was tasty and tender. All in all a delicious meal. The side of bacon Mac and cheese was a bit of a disappointment – but the flourless brownie as divine.

The service was great. The portions are good healthy sizes for the meals. They have a very high variety of good whiskeys, as well as other well known alcohols. The Elk and Duck were spectacular as the sauces made for each compliment them remarkably.

Came here for some drinks and food with girlfriends after horseback riding nearby. Great atmosphere and super relaxing. Hands down the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. The Ahi Tuna Tacos are delicious as well.

It’s great to walk around the hotel that was the inspiration for book The Shining. I went to the restaurant, and knew that I may not be able to get into the main restaurant, but the lounge area and the patio were available on a first come, first served basis. The lounge area was completely full, except for a couple of seats at the bar. The patio had plenty of tables that were available, so I sat out there. The temperature was very nice, but I did have to wait for a while. After about ten minutes, I flagged down a waiter who said he would bring me a menu. After a minute or two, he came out with a menu and water. After that, the service was very good. I ordered the Colorado Game Meatloaf, which was resting on a thin bed of mashed potatoes and wrapped on its outer edge with bacon, and was among the best meatloaves I have had. My only deductions in stars was due to the length of time before I was waited on after seeing several waiters and waitresses walk by me before I had to actually flag down a waiter. After that, the experience was great. If I were to offer advice, I would make a reservation at least a few days in advance. When I tried to make a reservation for tonight, there were no more openings, and only a couple of openings for the next couple of days.

We visited the Stanley Hotel on a Tuesday to do the ghost tour and decided to eat in their restaurant called Cascades. We didn’t have a reservation so we opted for the bar area as the hostess said it was faster anyway. Boy was she wrong. We sat down at 7pm and the waiter brought over menus at 7:10 but didn’t offer to take our drink order. Finally at 7:25 he came to take our order. I ordered the pork chop and was asked how I’d like it cooked. I’ve never been asked that, so I said I want it cooked, it’s pork. How else do you answer that? We also ordered a shrimp appetizer and shoestring fries with truffle and parmesan to accompany dinner. The food arrived rather fast however I think they did the shrimp and fries and let them sit there until the pork chop was done as the shrimp although drenched in butter was cold along with the fries. The fries were greasy and cold, stuck together because of all the grease and being cold. We didn’t eat them. The pork chop was good and cooked like pork should be. We ordered a crème brûlée and it’s sad to say that out of our $ 100 dinner the dessert was the best thing. Our waiter Adam was great and did the best he could with the amount of people in there. The menu is pricey which is understandable being where it is but I think the menu is too pretentious especially since this is a huge tourist attraction. You could still get away with high prices but maybe less pompous. We are coming back again to the Stanley but won’t be visiting Cascades.

The meal was good. My wife and I both got burgers because they were one of the more affordable items on the menu. The burgers were pretty good, but not worth the 20 bucks or whatever they cost. I also sampled some whiskeys. This is the reason I’m giving a 4 star review instead of a 3 star review. Jimmy(the whiskey guy) came over and explained SO much about the whiskeys I was sampling and even brought over some more after he and I talked for a while. This was honestly worth the price of the whiskey. I’ve never really had much experience with whiskey, but with their bar boasting over a thousand whiskeys, I had to try some. If you eat here, you absolutely have to try some of the whiskeys. Pros: good french fries, and Jimmy. Cons: price of the food, and wait time once ordered(luckily we had Jimmy to talk to about whiskey while we waited on our food). If we stay at the Stanley again, we’ll probably eat off property… but still drink their whiskey.
