Have never had a bahn mi sandwich before so i was skeptical at first. Got the spicy pork sandwich, and was impressed. Very delicious, and spicy but not too spicy which was great!

Best Bön Mi Sandwiches in Oregon! I have tried many places throughout the state.

Eugene is definitely not known for its authenticity in Vietnamese food, but I commend the few Viet restaurants here trying to maintain the diversity and culture of the east here. The banh mi is westernized and so are the phở noodle soups. This is obvious hence the restaurant’s name is French/Viet. If you are looking for traditional Vietnamese dishes, you may be disappointed. However, if you are looking for cheap eats with a hint of Vietnamese flavor and taste, Bön Mi will fit your needs.

After reading so many good reviews the wife and I decided to stop by to split a bahn mi. We chose the spicy chicken and it was actually very good, although, I had a piece of bone in a few of my bites and had to spit them out. By itself it wasn’t as spicy, but once the spicy garlic sauce was added it became a fireball with some kick. The ambiance was quiet and it was actually a bit awkward that the chemistry between the two employees was non-existent and had a hint of bitterness between the two. Other than that it was a good experience and well worth going back.

if you want some great banh mi this place is good for that, but i wouldn’t come here for the phó. they short you on meat and noddles and it’s just«meh». yi shen has amazing phó ga, if that’s what you’re looking for.

This place doesn’t smell good to me, maybe because I am not much used to Vietnamese cuisine. I could bear the taste of the«Phở» and were able to eat half of it, but again I did not find anything great about its taste, and had the same problem with its smell as in the reataurant. The«Red Hot Pork Bahn Mi», however, tastes really good, and at the end of the day I regretted that I got a small combo of soup and sandwich instead of a full size Bahn Mi. Friendly staff too!

Tasty banh mi!!! It’s funny how so many people don’t even know how to write the word«banh» correctly…

Is it fair to come to a place called Bön Mi and not order a sandwich? Probably not. I’m still on the quest for a good phở joint in Eugene. The broth and meatballs are better than Phở The Good Times. But the noodles were too soggy and was clumped together when it was given to me. They shorted me on the meat. I ordered phở with only meatballs. Normally it’s a 50 cent charge for extra meatballs. But I told them to leave out the other meats. They literally only gave me 3 half pieces of meatballs. That’s like ordering a whole pizza with only 5 slices of pepperoni on it. How is this price fair? I paid $ 8.50 for this. This is the first phở place I’ve left still feeling hungry. And it’s on Broadway so you have to pay for parking. I’m going to cry if the Vietnamese food doesn’t get any better than this in Eugene.

I am from California and Vietnamese and this doesn’t taste like authentic Vietnamese food. If you want authentic either go to Seattle, Bay Area, or Los Angeles. This is kind of like me going to Chipotle for Mexican food. Sure it tastes great but at the end of the day it’s not real Mexican food. The banh mi tastes great, but it doesn’t taste like a real banh mi from Vietnam or California. It has the right vegetables and such, but the cuts and sauces are different. The phở doesn’t even taste remotely like real phở it is quite embarrassing. They don’t even know the basic phở types and when I tried to order a phở tai, the workers were puzzled. They don’t have the dipping plates either like authentic phở places. I suggest the owner go to Seattle or California and do some research on authentic Vietnamese food. What was great was that I could take my vegetarian girlfriend and she could eat basically anything off the menu. Real Vietnamese food is generally not vegetarian friendly, so whenever I am in California I can’t take her to phở. So that was a great change of pace. All in all, this isn’t authentic but if you don’t care and like good tasting sandwiches that aren’t like real banh mi sandwiches or want phở that doesn’t taste remotely like phở but fills you up. This is your place.

While I really like the sandwiches here and the phở is ok… I can’t stand the poor customer service. I’ve been in a few times and have yet to be greeted at all. As I’ve approached the counter all that was said without any eye contact was«what do you want to order?» I get that it’s an «order at the counter» kind of place but if you walk into an empty restaurant and the person just stands there without saying hello, it feels awkward and unwelcoming. The half sandwich/half soup deal is nice because you get large portions of both. The banh mi is flavorful and tastes fresh but is on the greasy side. The phở is pretty standard but they offer the usual chili sauces to spice it up. The food comes out fast but not sure if that was because it was slow when I’ve been in. I have yet to try a French sandwich but if I do, it will be ordered to-go instead of eating in.

Don’t mind the shitty service, the phở is great. Sandwiches are good as well, says my table neighbor.

Pork banh mi was just what I needed today! Bread was soft, vegetables were pickled just right and still crisp to the bite. The pork was lean with very little pat in my sandwich, the fish sauce was in just the right amount to offer moisture to the bread and meat. The sandwich offered a great balance of favor.

Delicious food. God awful service. The women who work there are always so slow I question their sobriety. Forget about delivery, it takes them so long that your food will be soggy every time.

The phở wasn’t what I expected. The broth was pretty flavorless. The sandwich was great. The customer service could use some work. One gal was seriously in a bad mood. To the point of being rude. Thai iced tea was amazing… Little pricey for the amount you get.

Pretty good Banh Mi. Nothing to write home about. Atmosphere wasn’t anything special. Prices seemed about right. Will I be back? Maybe, i dunno.

I ordered the beef vermicelli and was quite underwhelmed. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the beef was tender. On the down side, the sliced beef tasted exactly like Philly sandwich beef steak not vietnamese seasoned meat. Instead of thin rice vermicelli noodles, my noodles were thick, cold spagetti. The fish sauce was good but overly sweet. I really tried to enjoy my dish but a cold spagetti sliced Philly beef salad was not what I was looking for. It didn’t taste horrible, but was far from being vietnamese beef vermicelli.

The banh mi was decent, but the bun was bad and bizarre. The«vermicelli» was oversized spaghetti and the pork mostly consisted of unpleasantly gristly dried nubs. The best thing they have going is their pickled daikon.

This is the place I will go for lunch whenever I conduct businesses in Eugene! I’ve never been able to choose between noodle soup and Vietnamese sandwiches. I seriously love both… and they have a sandwich and soup combo that’s just right for me! I was able to enjoy a small spicy beef noodle soup and a half-sandwich for under $ 10, perfect! The spicy beef noodle soup really is quite spicy. I am pretty sure I have sausage lips for 15 more minutes after finishing up the soup. But it’s so good! The broth is very flavorful and not over salted. My one complaint is that the bread they use for their sandwich is too soft, got a little mushy towards the end. But the sandwich is packed with meat and refreshing veggies, and all at a very reasonable price! The place seems pretty clean, and they have sell snacks to go as well. Will definitely return!

I got the vegetarian vermicelli bowl with the vegan sauce. Yum, yum, yum! The normal vermicelli sauce is a fish sauce, but the vegan sauce they use for their Banh Mi was given to me on the side and after tasting it I quickly doused my bowl with it. The tofu was deliciously marinated in soy and lemongrass and I was sad when I had finished all the pieces. My husband got the vegetarian Banh Mi and gave it two thumbs up. I also took a bite and thought it was good, although I think my bowl was better. If we make it back here again, I think I will have to try their veggie phở, even if it’s a hot day.
