Wow is all I can say! The food, atmosphere and staff are all excellent. Definitely one of my favorite local restaurants in Eugene.

I absolutely love Buddy’s! Their old fashioned milkshakes are fabulous and the atmosphere is charming.

This review is just for the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. My old fishing buddy Art brought me here, says it’s the best in Oregon. And you know what? It’s pretty damn sloppy-good. Home baked buns, melty-creamy white cheese, really good thin sliced beef, and charred but crunchy onions and green peppers. I asked for au jus too, ate it up every last bite, best I’ve had in years. Brassy service and hokey ambience were pretty fun too, if you just go with the schmaltz.

What a crappy experience here today! Eggs were way over cooked, asked for extra crispy hash browns but they came out lukewarm and with no crispness what so ever, not once was I asked how things were. I think it’s just time to stop going to Buddy’s. Quality just isn’t there anymore.

Milkshakes, bomb. Burgers, strong. Fries, mediocre. Fantastic little joint with excellent customer service and homey classic diner vibe.

OMG Will, I can’t believe you gave this place only two stars. It’s just diner food! I’m sure this is going to come off as snooty to some who appreciate a ‘50s style diner. The thing is, though, that I love good diner food. This place offers diner food, but unfortunately it’s not *good* diner food. I ordered a sausage, mushroom and cheese omelette with hash browns and a biscuit. The sausage was tasty, but the cheese was an orange gooey substance that added more salt than flavor, the eggs were cooked alright, though. The hash browns were under-seasoned and lacked a good crisp. The biscuit wasn’t the worst I’ve had, but it was too bready. The décor was exactly as expected, and they were quite busy, but seating at the bar was immediate. Customer service was definitely a high point as it was flawless. Unfortunately Eugene simply has better options for good diner food, either Brails or Terry’s Diner simply blow this place out of the water. I would recommend this place only if you live close and you’re so hungover you can’t drive.

This place is simply the best. The service staff is so friendly, the atmosphere is retro in a good way and the food… Everything I’ve had has been great. This place is GREAT, hands down my favorite breakfast and burger spot in Eugene Or

When you walk in the door, whether or not you ever been there, you feel you are home. What a happy place. No snobs, just regular folk emjoying food and conversation. Prices are fair, and go hungrey, because so much food you’ll take some home. 50’s theme and the peiple who work there love their job. That is a powerful statement alone, happy at work means everything is better. Don’t take my word for it, head down yourself. P. S. how long has it been sense you had a hand made malt where the staff leaves the metal malt container at your table with at least another full helping?

The service is good the food is excellent for a diner. The ambience is 50s diner. They have hand cut fries which is always a plus. The most impressive thing is how fast the food comes out. I’ve eaten here a half dozen times and it’s always solid. Eating the chicken Philly now and it’s a winner.

found this little spot when i was driving around Eugene looking for a new place to eat. Had a great breakfast here with the family. Get there early because it does get busy and full really quick. The service is great and the home atmosphere is very warm. Definitely a must for those who like restaurants with themes. This one has a 50’s feel to it.

Went back for another meal, got HUGE slices of their homemade pies. Pecan was AMAZING, the Cherry Cobbler was SO yummy and the Chocolate mousse was delicious!

I came in to Buddy’s with a craving for chicken fried steak. My side options were hash browns or home fries, toast or biscuit. The home fries is a potato baked then sliced and fried. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were perfect. The biscuit was huge and moist. I liked the gravy, so I imagine the biscuits and gravy are pretty killer, too. The server was cheery and prompt. My coffee cup was never empty. I’m glad I stopped in. I’ll be back for breakfast again and to try their lunch.

Had breakfast here recently and it was pretty damn good. I had been expecting it to be more of a greasy spoon type place than it was and was pleasantly surprised. The hashbrowns were not soggy with oil, the omelette was exactly as I ordered, and I feel that the portion size of my meal was not absurdly huge. My bacon was extra crispy, as order, and it was perfect. I did see a plate of biscuits and gravy go by, and holy cow… it was enormous. I don’t know if that was the regular size, but it could have fed me for three days. My other half had an omelette, and cinnamon roll, which although he enjoyed, it was swimming in frosting and he was scraping it off. Still, we’ll probably be back.

The food looked good, but once it was in my mouth it was lackluster. My husband and myself both got a basic cheeseburger(medium rare) with cheddar, and hand cut fries. Overall, it was passable, but the bun to meat ratio was horrible, and dry. Very, very dry, which is hard to do with a medium rare burger. I think most of that had to do with the fact that the bun seemed stale to the point of being crumbly. The fries, those were horrible. They were soggy, super brown, limp, and under done — all at the same time. I don’t even know how that’s possible. The best part of the meal was my coffee, and the fast, friendly service. All in all, okay food if you’re in a crunch, but we won’t be back if we can help it.

Ok… so we went for breakfast this morning. Had to do a second visit for a different meal. They were very busy so we sat outside. Missed all 50s kitch from sitting inside but I’ll live! We ordered… Eggs, sausage and hashbrowns with a side of biscuit and gravy. Egg over easy were very easy! Too much runny whites for me. A little is ok… but this was swimming. Next time over medium. Sausage was very tasty! Hashbrown cooked perfectly. The gravy had a nice flavor. The biscuit though was tougher than last time. Waffles with bacon and eggs. Waffles were heavy for a Belgian style. Scrambled eggs were nice and the bacon super tasty! French Toast. Solid! Tasty and great texture! Pancakes were tasty. Nothing outrageously special but good. My daughter order the same egg, ham and cheese scramble with home fries and biscuit. While the egg and ham was still good… the home fries were nothing like we had the other night. Not the same flavor. And again… the biscuit tasted like it was made by a construction worker. Dense and tough. I would rather rate it 3.5 stars. Great service! Super friendly both times!!! The food, while inconsistent, still good and tasty over all. We still need to go back for their milk shakes!

Met friends here for breakfast, and what a cute place! I love the 50’s décor. I had the cinnamon bread French Toast and it was dee-licious. So decadent! Ordered a side of bacon on the side, and it was cooked extra crispy as requested. The other breakfasts looked really good, scrmbled eggs looked really fresh and fluffy, and everything was pretty much on point. I can see this becoming a regular place for us.

I used to love buddy’s and I’m not sure what happened. The last two times I went in the waitresses were totally uninterested and I even had to walk up to the counter just to get a refill and to go box. Horrible service to say the least. The food is alright nothing great, but the service is what did it for me. I have no interest in ever going back and would not recommend this place to anyone!

Been here a few times and have always had the All Shook Up which is diced ham eggs with home style spuds and a biscuit. Always cooked perfectly. I also have a vanilla shake every time but the last when I got wild and had a strawberry shake. YUM! This place gets busy at time and the only big draw back is the venting system and you can leave smelling a little bit like a French fry. Other than that, a great place to eat with a usually great staff.

I might have to go back during regular lunch and dinner hours but this place so far was just ok. I got the jalapeño burger and my husband had Philly. Kid had pb and j. The fillings were tasty but the burger bun was stale and Philly bun was soggy. Fries were really good. Not a lot of people in there since it was like 3:00. Waitresses were friendly but kept having loud conversations with themselves and other customers. It would have been nice I’d they kept there voices down so that we could have our own conversations at our table. It was super annoying. They were talking about how big other pregnant girls were and how they gained to much weight. I’m 8 months pregnant and really did not want to hear it. Really uncomfortable convo that I was forced to listen to by diner staff.
