Folkways

Folkways in the Meridian Building at 18^th & Willamette is a lovely place to shop for women who are looking for flattering clothing for daily, slightly upscale wear or special occasions. They have a good variety of pieces in a variety of styles, sizes (6−2x), and natural and synthetic fabrics. Beautiful accessories as well, including jewelry, bags and scarves.
Folkways is not my first stop for shopping trips, but it was just the place for someone like my active mother who buys 90% of her clothing at REI, except for her jeans. When I heard that mom had found not only one, but two nice outfits, I was amazed. This coming from a woman who hates to shop, I figured she had gotten very lucky, or Folkways had some very good sales associates. Both turned out to be true. Service was competent, friendly, patient, and listened to my mom’s needs in terms of finding her items that are comfortable, not too fussy, and easily laundered. She walked away with two nice outfits and in a more positive mood than previous shopping excursions.
Bonus for me: I had come in to offer my opinion as to which of mom’s outfits looked the best, espied three additional adorable dresses on a rack and tried them on on a whim. All of them looked amazing and because this girl knows how hard it can be to find a flattering dress, I took them all home at a very reasonable price.
