Great food, with generous portions and fast, friendly service. We had a large party with some people coming in late and they had no problem seating and serving us quickly. The breakfast burrito was so girthy and tasted great! I’ll be back soon!

B I S C U I T S & G R A V Y! The biscuit is flaky and buttery in appearance and taste, quite large for a biscuit. The gravy is grandma’s «Sunday Brunch» gravy after church and she invited the whole choir over for B & G and Fried Chicken. Listen Folks, I have seen it all and tasted the best of em’ in regards to Biscuits and gravy. GJ’s has the best and that’s final! I’m not going to change my mind ever! THEBEST! The helping’s are generous and you feel right at home when you walk in. It is definitely the down home experience. Enjoy, But get the Biscuits and Gravy! Tell me about it!

Excellent service. Very friendly and attentive staff that immediately made us feel welcome. Small, old fashioned, diner style setting. Great food with large portions and very affordable. Had the bacon omelette and added mushrooms. Friend had biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were fluffy and delicious. The bacon was crispy and tasty. You won’t make a bad choice by having breakfast here.

Great Mom and, Pop place we have been going to for years for breakfast. If I am not in a breakfast mood, I get the prime rib on special. The portions of everything here are huge! I used to just get eggs, toast, and a hot chocolate. When we would come in they would remember us and I would have a hot chocolate in a flash with out even asking. This is the type of service you get here. Most of the time there is a wait for a table unless you get there at just the right time. The food comes out so fast that you are not waiting for too long most of the time, and the customers don’t seem to be the lingering type. It has been a while for me since I have come in until today, and they have new cool tables with GJ’s carved in the table tops. The seats appear to either be brand new, or recovered. Either way. Very nice. It was nice to get one of my favorite hot chocolate’s. I usually drink tea. The prime rib was also pretty good, and full of flavor. You could actually see the spices on the outside layer of the meat… Impressive. And the horseradish is legit!

Ate lunch on New Year’s day. There was a line but we were seated very quickly anyway. The portions are HUGE. The breakfast burritos take up almost the entire plate! My patty melt was yummy, had two meat patties and loads of cheese but the fries tasted oily, not the best. My friend’s Eggs Benedict was really good. It’s good, basic food and the waitress calls you«sweetie». I will be a regular!

There’s often a line, and it’s worth it. For one thing, you can see the staff hustling the whole time. No one is rushing customers, but no one is letting a table sit without making progress or be dirty without people at it. They are hustling! And they’re pleasant! And they’re keeping coffee and water filled, and I just love ‘em. I always get the California omelet, but I don’t eat carbs much, so I’m always asking for NOSIDES. And next time, not as many tomatoes. In fact, I think I just want eggs, cheese, and avocado… but anyway, I’m never looking for a discount when I ask for no sides. But they work SOHARD to get me to accept something(like veggies, or a salad, or fruit, or something). It’s cute how they care. Once, I did get a few extra avocado slices. That was nice. But the main thing: That’s a darn good omelet. And it’s big. And did I mention the staff? So friendly. The cashier chats with you. I go there whenever I visit my parents. I’m a fan.

The portions are HUGE!!! The service is something out of a black and white 60’s flick. If you don’t like being up close and personal with the person to your side avoid going on Sunday mornings, its hoppin’ Gravy — I am not a fan of their gravy, but the guys in my household love their biscuits and gravy. Chicken Fried Steak — Delicious and HUGE! Hashbrowns — Sometimes they are cold if you order to go, I mean ice cold like they didn’t heat them enough. Pancakes — The size of hubcaps as the older gentlemen at the counter put it, and he wasn’t lying! They are the biggest pancakes I’ve ever seen.

Stopped for breakfast while in the area having our motorhome serviced. The parking lot was nearly full(good sign!), yet we were seated promptly. Hubster ordered Spanish omelette from the large menu and I ordered the eggs Benedict I had been craving. The food was brought quickly and the portions were substantial. We both enjoyed our meals and the good service. Of note was wait staff Luis. From the moment we walked in the door and he greeted us with a genuine smile, to telling us thank you and have a nice day as we left, Luis was making sure we had a good experience of the restaurant. He never stopped moving and seeing to customers’ needs. Very enjoyable restaurant experience.

Seriously the best breakfast ever! Worth every penny! Don’t let the people standing outside make you think there’s a long wait time — I have never waited more than 10 minutes. Even on a busy Saturday morning.

Huge portions in a family atmosphere. Place can get really crowded with a rushed feel. It also is a bit run down with a greasy feel. All in all its a lot of food for reasonable price.

Eugene & Springfield have maybe 10 places to eat breakfast, 3 that are worth eating at, and 2 open early. For a few reasons, GJS Family Restaurant beats the rest out. Let me start with saying, this is a greasy spoon, diner, with portions no 2 people could eat(no offense if you finish off a GJS plate) Back to why GJS wins. 1. Good black coffee. Comes a steamin’ & they keep it comin’. 2. HASHBROWNS I repeat HASHBROWNS. Not homefries, not seasoned potatoes, not fancy shmancy, herbed, sliced, sauteed, fingerlings, reds, or new. Just plain old, probably frozen(don’t quote me, also I don’t care), grated russets, properly browned in a slab until golden. This my friends, is the most important part of a balanced breakfast. 3. English muffins, giant biscuits, & croissants. Nuff said. I can’t bring myself to eat at an establishment that serves breakfast, let alone specializes in it, yet does not serve English muffins. 4. Eggs. You would not believe how hard it is to get an egg cooked right. Hard scrambled. Soft scrambled. Fried egg. Over easy. Over medium. Over hard. Sunny side up. It’s a thing. You can order it, and they will cook it right. 5. Last but not least, actually probably first and foremost: the staff. Judy is just the cutest. She always remembers us. And our orders. She lovingly scolds us when we change it up, & always addresses with a «honey» «darlin» or «sweetie» The food comes out fast, hot, & with a smile. Yeah okay, sometimes I want fancy sauteed fingerlings potatoes with poached eggs, sliced tomatoes, blanched asparagus, a slice of brioche, and a side of fresh fruit. But if I want the atmosphere, service, nostalgia, family feel & all the comforts of a good breakfast, it will always be here. Seriously, all the feels.

My FAVORITE breakfast in Eugene! By far! Great prices and GREAT food! They are very fast to get the food out and get people in, fed, and leave… which is how I like it in the morning! Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, especially if you have a party larger than 4 people. Best dish in my opinion is the CA Omelette. HANDSDOWN my #1 pick!

Just old fashioned kinda breakfast fare served up in portions that could only be found in America or maybe… nope, just America. I’m gonna go get my cholesterol checked.

The biscuits and gravy were not good. First bite and I could taste the flour used to thicken the«gravy.» It was really more of a plain basic white sauce with a few sausage crumbles pieces thrown in. The biscuit was dry. The pancake my youngest had was good. Hubs didn’t think his corned beef hash was anything special either. The dirty greasy feel was not pleasant and we won’t be headed back.

This is a must stop if you Love a good O’l american, cowboy breakfast. Yes this is one of the local stops along the way for a very interesting group of regulars. The portions were exceptional, the price right in line with the region. Had a wonderful corn beef hash with eggs, hash-browns and toast. Coffee was hot and tasted like someone knew what they were doing. This is one of those hidden gems that I will be sure to share with my parents who love to have a good place for breakfast, home cooking style.

My favorite«greasy spoon» type breakfast place. Perfect for the type of breakfast you may desire after a long night out. The service is fast and to the point, just how I like a breakfast place to be, especially after the aforementioned night out. Yes, as stated over and over again in the reviews for GJ’s, the portions are massive. I rarely finish my plate and I have a hearty appetite. The prices, inexpensive. You get about twice as much food as you would at a Denny’s, Shari’s, or IHOP for the same dollar. The food won’t be winning any Michelin stars this year, but the reviews saying the food is of a low quality must be rare occurrences, each time I have been here the quality is solid and the food properly seasoned.

One word: HUGE! Every meal is massive. I had a ham and egg sandwich with hash browns. The hash browns were a little soggy and the ham on the breakfast sandwich was really salty. My hubby thought the omelet was pretty good, but it had way too much cheese on it. The OJ wasn’t fresh squeezed, but it was ok. We ate here before a U of O game and they were quick and accommodating for the fans that needed to eat and run.
