Ocean sky has great prices, VERY generous portions, and great quality food! This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. So sad that it is closing down.

I love the food here. The won ton soup is the best in town. I’ve hardly had anything here I didn’t like. The staff is friendly too.

My client orders from here every Sunday. The portions are generous, but overall taste of dishes is bland. Even when dishes are requested«spicy», there is little difference. Staff is friendly. I don’t dine-in, only carry-out. I will say that the interior of the restaurant is quite dark and dated. I’ve noticed very large groups each time I’ve run in. Prices and menu options are on par with all other American-Chinese restaurants.

We’ve been going to Ocean Sky for many years. The food is as consistently good as the restaurant itself is in need of cleaning and updating. Our visit on 4÷3÷2016 will be our last. The service was fine, the food was good, but the number of dirty tables left uncleared was shocking. We ate our entire meal next to a long table where a large group had clearly had a birthday party some hours before. The most bizarre part over the course of the hour or so my family and I had our meal was that no staff person acknowledged, apologized for, or made an effort to clear up the mess. While this was the messiest table in the place, we noted several other tables as we were leaving which remained uncleared during the entire time we were there. Our only conclusion is that the owners have simply stopped caring about customer service.

OMG! JM from Junction City said it all in his review on 1÷20÷16. I have been to this restaurant a few times in the last couple of months and the food has been tasty and plentiful, service was really nice with the young waitress that spoke perfect English. That all ended when I went with a friend to eat here on 1÷21÷16, a day after JM’s reveiw and sat in a booth that was waitressed by the«Chinese Nazi Lady», she makes Seinfields soup Nazi look like a cream puff! I know I’m friendly with all wait staff because I realize they have a difficult job no matter what place I decide to visit. I asked this waitress how her day was going when she first arrived at the table and she responded with a so-so. She acted like we were just there to make her day miserable, never smiled and would totally ignore us once the food was brought out. By the way, we both had the spicy squid with vegetables and it was delicious! She brought out the meal for both of us but didn’t bring out the rice, so we asked if we could have the rice, thought we were asking for one of her arms, she was so rude and not friendly! I believe if you looked up crabby in the dictionary, her picture would be next to the explanation! Yes, I will go back to Ocean Sky, I like the food and I definitely will make sure that I sit in the section waitressed by the young girl with perfect English and a super friendly attitude. PS. I understand that the Chinese Nazi Lady is the sister of the owner, I would definetly give her walking papers back to China, let her terrorize some restaurant out there.

Comically horrible. The lady server is like a sitcom version of a rude Chinese woman… Angry(borderline hostile) and so rude. She must own the place because no one would hire someone that treats people like that in the service industry. It was not just us either she had enough anger to distribute it evenly throughout the restaurant. We waited 15 minutes to be recognized and sat. It was not crowded. I tried to order iced tea but she acted like she had never heard of such a thing so i ordered water. We waited about 10 minutes and my entrée came out with the soup which everyone had. My business partner(Trav) ordered the same soup as we did but she brought him sweet and sour. He said he ordered egg flour and she just freezes like a statue staring at him for like 10 — 15 seconds, clearly not believing him… It was super uncomfortable. Without a word she turned and stalked off. Then over the course of the next thirty minutes she brings one plate at a time except my girl friends… Who we will call Jess… This entire time we all were saying thank you and being polite but never once was it acknowledged. After finishing my meal i went up to see where Jess’s lunch was. It was literally pushed out from under the heat lamp so other food could be delivered and when she saw me approach she grabbed it as if it just came out. I asked if that was for us and she actually spoke to me and said«yes will you take it out» I was upset yet amazed and felt like i was on a prank show because this was hilarious. I finally could hold my tongue no longer and responded«yes, somebody’s got to do your job» and proceeded to take Jess’s lunch to her. Of course it wasn’t hot. In hindsight i wish i would have said nothing. The food ranged from 5 to 7. The best item was the chicken fried rice. Service was so bad it was worth it… I challenge you to go to this restaurant and ask to be seated in the older Chinese ladies section. Go with a good attitude… Maybe even stoned. Try not to get upset just ride it out. Can you beat this? Btw the young server seemed to be the polar opposite of the mean lady. She served a table close by quite well.

Okay this has been an awful experience for years… but today I gave them one more chance for lunch. I heave no confidence that this restaurant passes any food inspection. Barring that, two waitresses couldn’t handle a modest late lunch crowd. Ordered chow fun with fresh pork. Waitress forgot soup course, delivered hot and sour soup(greasy) and entrée at the same time. Entrée was cold by the time I finished soup. Entrée was clearly pre-cooked, under seasoned, okay until I found a large ball of undercooked pork in the middle of the dish. Couldn’t eat the rest, paid for it(after explaining the problem with no offer of compensation).

On Nov 18, 2015 I placed a pick up order for 3 items they told me about 20 mins I figured since it was dinner to waited an extra 10 min before leaving to pick it when I got there and paid my food still wasn’t ready and it had been 45 mins by now(I live in Springfield) so I obviously waited and stood by the counter to wait and watch them prepare food. Let’s just say 15 mins into watching them I quickly canceled my ENTIREORDER! the lady in the back was going from portioning out RAWMEATTHANSTRAIGHTOVERTOTHEVEGGIESWITHOUTWASHINGHERHANDSONCE(veggies that were just in plastic tubs not over ice or any kind of cooler) she than proceeded to grab the to go boxes and putting orders in the boxes for customers to pick. NEVERWASHEDHERHANDSORWOREGLOVESWHILEHANDLINGRAWMEAT! I work in the food industry and I can’t believe how much they cross contaminated foods. I will never return!

My Chinese family from Northern California hosted a reception here. We called ahead of time to request some of our favorite dishes that weren’t on the menu. They were able to make each one and they tasted deliciously authentic! Our favorite was their crispy, free range chicken. It was to die for! We are pretty picky with our Chinese food and this was up to par for sure! (The service itself wasn’t the best which is why I took away a star.)

I love the food and nice wait staff. Good prices. I’ve been to this restaurant literally probably a hundred times. The only complaint I have is sometimes I have to wait a long time for a check. Although the wait staff is friendly and they should be paying a little more attention to when people are done eating. But I’ll still go back there time and time again.

I know that everyone has their opinion of Ocean Sky, but all I gotta say… it’s still open ya’ll. Ocean Sky is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in town. Their consistency in the way they cook their food and how tasty it is, keeps me coming back. We used to bring our huge parties here for birthdays, after event celebrations, out of town family, or just because. The portions are meant for family style(so if you don’t like sharing, well too bad) so they are enormous. When the platters of food arrive it’s quite a spectacle. Large steaming platters heaped with delicious noodles and meats, and bowls full of steaming rice. The cuisine might not be anything new or fancy, but man it is comfort food to the max. When I’m sick, I love ordering their egg drop noodle soup and rice. My favorite dishes: salt and pepper shrimp, eggplant in garlic sauce, lemon chicken, green beans in garlic sauce and their chef’s special chow mein. I am officially addicted. I know over the years that they have been around has caused some wear and tear on the restaurant itself, but I see it as character. Ocean Sky will always have my business as long as they are open.

Worst experience ever. They double billed us. Then when we tried to get help they wouldn’t help us. The lady kept talking in Chinese and ignoring us while we were standing at the register. We had to tell her 5 times what day and what we ate before she would even make a phone call. The food wasn’t even that good…

I have been going here for 10+years with my family. The food is the only reason we ever come back. It’s great for the price and portions are large. The two stars are for service. I have never had a good experience with service here but it seems to be getting worse. Waiters are rude and rushed. They need more employees.

If you want«authentic» Chinese, go somewhere else. The regular old, slutty, Americanized version of Chinese is what most people want in Eugene, and everywhere else actually. For that Ocean Sky is pretty good. Soup is what they do best. Sizzling rice is DLW’s favorite, and she gets a craving for it every couple of months. The portion is huge, and we always have enough for at least two meals. Anything with duck or roast pork would also be a good choice. This is not an attractive space, rather run-down and cheesy. Service can be spotty, but they will try to accommodate you if you want something unusual. Wine is pretty terrible but cheap. Just be careful in what you order, and you’ll probably be happy.

I went here with my wife according to a recommendation from a co-worker. We get there and had to wait about five minutes to be seated. We ordered the chicken with garlic sauce and pot stickers. The price here is great for what you get, but what you get is questioning. The garlic chicken was just inundated with vegetables and much chicken. The pot stickers are pretty much ones you can get from the frozen section of a grocery market. The service was non-existent, we had to wait for water to be refilled, they just stood around the back of the cash register and were talking amongst each other. I wish I can give this place another try, but I won’t be going back.

The portions are huge as mentioned by others but it’s a lot of mediocrity. The service, LOL. I really hate having to track down a bill, I’ll leave it at that. It’s the place that when my family mentions wanting to go to, I will usually opt to stay home. Then once in awhile I make the mistake of getting tipsy and eating leftovers, an instant sad face and buzzkill. That’s right, it’s not even good when you’re drunk.

Today was not a good day to run the gauntlet. I suggested to two friends that we try OS for lunch since I was craving some sweet and sour chicken and chowmein. Mistake. Big mistake. We were seated immediately but we were not even acknowledged by a server or bus person for twenty minutes. Meaning we weren’t given the obligatory tea and water. After being ignored, I caught the eye of a waitress by the«excuse me, ma’am» that should draw attention. Instead, she walked away. By this time, we’re nearly thirty minutes in and I need to be back to work and don’t have time to go anywhere else. Our server finally came to the table and I explained we had limited time. In her defense, they did have two rather large parties and were under staffed. She brought our order fairly quickly. Unfortunately, this will be my last visit to OS. my friends agreed that the food just wasn’t worth it. I was ten minutes late from lunch and I can no longer tolerate the poor service.
