This is one of my favorite venues in Eugene to see live music. It’s nice and cozy with just the right mixture of bar, seating area, dancing area, and outdoor area. Good beer and food, and the band’s they have are usually good to great. I first discovered one of my favorite bands here– Petunia & the Vipers!

I like sam bonds for lots of reasons: Good crowd, good music, nice outside seating, good food with vegan options and just an all around cool atmosphere.

So much yes! This bar in a great residential-y area of Eugene has a fantastic atmosphere — fun but casual and unpretentious. There is a good draft beer selection as well as good cocktails and cheap food and snacks. Loved The Shining artwork on the wall! This place attracted a great mix of locals, from students to older folk with flowing white beards, and everyone was happy to share the space together. We went on a Monday night around 11pm and it was busy with Monday night bingo, apparently a favourite with the locals. There is a music stage and I was disappointed to miss out on the live blues they had the following night(we were only in town one night). Everyone was having a great time in this bar. I hope to be back one day.

Chocolate Chip Cookie monsters will LOVE the freshly baked cookie here… I’d make a special trip just to eat one. Forget the food and just go straight to dessert!

A Eugene/Whit institution, unique and«special«(god I hate that word). It’s been there forever, we are lucky to have it. It’s easy to forget how great SB’s can be. The wonderfully diverse hipster crowd. The music. The excellent space, indoors and out. The world class bathroom graffiti. And Monday night«hippy bingo». Went last night with a rolling group of friends, after 10 years I accidentally won(!). The best thing about SB is there’s almost always a great vibe, and it’s almost always infectious. Grateful Eug has this place.

The ambiance is great, but the food leaves me wishing I had gone elsewhere. My son and I each ordered panini sandwiches for $ 10. They were bland and we didn’t even want to finish eating them.

A bar with multiple vegan options. A great patio. Always a different cider on tap. Some of the best live shows I’ve seen. What else could I want?

Finally got to check this place out the first time I tried they were hosting a private event, second try they had a power outage. I wanted to give up on this place but my friend insisted I had to check it out. Finally made it in. The place was packed with people drinking and playing Bingo. Standing room only but no problemo. Got myself a tasty IPA, grabbed a handful of pennies and a bingo card. Great idea I must say. I didn’t end up winning but santa did throw me a gift from his bag.

Fantastic, best bar on Blair in the Whiteaker. All beers are craft brews with an option to get a bottle of PBR if you’re on a budget. The staff are more than friendly, the food is in large hearty portions and tastes fresh. A better deal can’t be found, especially with how often they have live music that shows for free, some nights require a cover, however it is never too much or ridiculously priced.

I’m a pretty big fan of Sam Bonds. It’s a fun atmosphere to hang out in, although sometimes too loud. I like bluegrass night and bingo is fun as hell! The food is great and there is always a good selection on tap. I haven’t ever been wowed by their mixed drinks so I stick to beer or cider now.

This place is okay. The food is okay. The beer is okay(though the new ones are promising). The atmosphere is nice. The music is usually pretty good, and pretty intimate. Sometimes I go here to mix up my routine, but I never leave thinking«Damn, I should always go here.» Meat-centric menu, for what that’s worth. Not sure why it’s listed as a vegetarian place. The best part about this place is the friends you bring with you.

Has been one of my fave haunt since I moved here. I have had incredible, magical evenings in this place. Seen great music and danced the night away. The indoor/outdoor stage is rad. Back patio is fabulous and allows smoking. Only current disappointment is that they only serve their own beer, which I’m not a big fan of. I like having a few different IPA choices, especially at my neighborhood bar.

This place might have been good… if anyone ever talked to us. We sat and waited over 10 minutes, the waitress passed us numerous times never said hello or took our order. Very rude. After 15 minutes we left.

Groovy live music and bingo spot in the Whiteaker neighborhood, though it gets mighty crowded after 8 pm. Sam Bond’s is a Eugene establishment and this is a good area for visitors interested in the counterculture vibe here. You can walk 5 – 6 blocks and see a lot of interesting and unusual sights(and people). The Filbert Brown toasted hazelnut ale is among the top 5 beers I’ve tasted. Even better than Rogue’s Hazelnut Brown, with perfectly roasted flavor. Still doesn’t beat Steelhead’s beers, but in my book, nothing does! :) Drinks served in mason jars is still fun and quirky, even if it’s becoming more mainstream. Street parking is very limited, and it’s best to plan to walk a few blocks to get to Sam’s. I don’t think they have a private lot, at least not that I’ve discovered. The only negative experience I’ve had there — sometimes it feels like you need to a resident of the Whit or a cute college girl to be served promptly at the bar. It’s annoying to stand there empty handed being flatly ignored for 5+ minutes while the girls on stools ask 18 slow questions about cocktails and simper«I don’t know, I just don’t know!» Hey, I know what I want. Can I get a pint?(And I wouldn’t write that for a single instance — it’s happened 3x now.)

A friend and I decided to stop in for a drink at Sam’s during the Whitaker block party and see what all the fuss was about. We were disappointed when they were charging a 5 dollar cover to just grab a beer. On top of it all the music was terrible and the man on stage was shouting weird things. It took them about an hour to just start playing. I also ordered a hummus plate for 11 $ it was great and fresh! The beer was average, I was expecting a whole lot more. The block party was better!

I am wavering between a 3 and 4 here. To me, Sam Bond’s is sort of a Eugene institution or really to be more accurate I should say it’s more like a Whiteaker institution. I come here a lot. It’s my neighborhood place. It sometimes feels a bit like a home away from home. I have always loved the ambiance here. The food is great and so are the drinks and of course the bartenders here are great. In the last couple of years Sam Bonds started brewing their own beer, so all of the taps are Sam Bonds brewing. While I enjoy their beer, I sort of wish they still did maybe one or two guest taps(that aren’t cider). They have some fun weekly events like Bingo on Mondays(get here early to actually get a seat as it gets packed!) Tuesdays they usually do an open acoustic jam and most of the other nights there is almost always some sort of live music. All in all this is a great place to come and relax after a day at work or on the weekend.

Wonderful food, large variety of drinks, delicious cocktails, great people watching, dancing, and one of the best places in town for local music. In fact, Sam Bond’s is where my husband and I found the band that played at our wedding. One downside, probably the grossest bar bathrooms in town.

Caught a show here a few months back and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been living in Eugene for about 3 and a half years and I think that for just as long everyone has been telling me that this is a place that I needed to go. They were right. The sound for the band was good, plenty of seating with great sight lines everywhere as it’s an open space. You can sit at the bar and comfortably see the stage. I like the way that the place is set up. Good beer list, including their own brews, and good food. I’ll definitely be back.
