SELCO Community Credit Union

The one time I needed to use their teller services, the teller was fast, efficient and kind.
Then I needed to complete a car loan transaction. I made the mistake of going into this branch not knowing I had to complete the transaction, originally initiated online, over the phone with their loan call-​center.
This was frustrating on a few levels. Many people take out few loans in their life span and don’t know the ins and outs, so I don’t appreciate how little information or assistance was offered.
As a credit union, you’d think that their system would be tied together throughout the branches and call center, you should be told that initiating a loan online means you’re stuck with it being on the phone as well. It took me an extra day to get the loan completely processed because of this technique. Which meant I had to put down a deposit on the car so the lot would hold it while the paperwork was pushed through, now I’m having issues getting that deposit back because SELCO won’t step up and initiate a chargeback threat like every other bank has done for me in the past.
All a merchant has to do is start the credit process but it doesn’t ever have to post, at that point you’re stuck with working it out between the two parties.
Selco is great for every transaction that has no hiccups attached but pray that you never need them to help you out. I guess their low interest and credit union name is enough for them to skate by and completely fail on customer service.
The person I spoke with when I made the mistake of showing up at the West 11^th branch to try to complete the loan transaction was rude and short with me. Then when I went in to get the cashier’s check the next day to take to the car dealership, I sat around while he didn’t bother to check the printer, until another associate asked if I had been helped… brilliant customer service indeed.
