This is to notify future bowling searchers that this establishment burned down August 52015, with no injuries or deaths fortunately, but a total loss of the property. Sorry to see it go.

My law journal decided to have our end of the year party at Southtowne, and we had a great time. Yes, the place shows its age, but it didn’t detract from the experience in any way. The staff was friendly. They have a no outside food policy with the exception of cake, but they were accommodating with letting us bring in both shortcake and cupcakes instead of your generic sheet cake. We also bought ample drinks from the bar/café area, and everything was more than reasonably priced. $ 2.50 for a glass of wine and $ 3 for cider? Can’t beat that! Overall Southtowne was a fun place to have a get-together, and I would definitely recommend it!

Ghetto bowling. The shoes are ravaged. Worst selection of crooked rocks they call balls. The lanes are wavy, you can see huge bumps in the lanes. Some lanes are bowed netting any ball traveling less than 14mph into the gutter no matter how straight it is thrown. The bathrooms remind me of a b-rate horror movie. The service sucks, they obviously know your not going to be happy anyway…

This place definitely a vintage bowling alley, right down to the lanes and the equipment, and sadly the balls. I swear those poor things have seen better days, I’ve never seen bowling balls as chewed as these ones, there were serious chips in them that caused some to veer hard in the lane. I’m not a fantastic bowler, but I’d call myself decent. This place could do with new balls and some upgraded equipment, one of our balls actually got stuck in the pin area(it finally came out). The shoes were nice though, very very new looking. Other than that, I liked the way this place looks. Very 70’s-80’s. Had four or five pool tables which looked pretty inviting(will probably go back for a game of pool, haven’t played in years). The selection of beers was nice, the food was«meh.» I was there on a Monday so I didn’t get to see the place busy, but I can tell the place in frequented by college students.

Love this place! Fantastic staff. Fantastic micro brew selection at a very reasonable price(2.75 a bottle! I always get dead guy from rogue) And the tip jars are always 2 cool hand drawn choices of your tipping pleasure :) They stay open late which is nice. The food is hella good too. I highly suggest a good ol hotdog with mayo onions and bacon, extra crispy. Also their club sandwich is awesome. I hear the prices for bowling are slightly pricier than others but its local i can walk bike or bus and i love the atmosphere! 5 stars from me.

I love a vintage bowling alley. Whereas the Big L.‘s lanes are more, I-don’t-know, 60s(?), Southtowne is straight-up 70s-80s ballin’. The leagues here are super-friendly, well-organized, and FUN! I improved my game average by about 40 – 50 points this past year, thanks to my teammates as well as our competitors. The rent-a-shoes and loaner balls are good quality. Good enough for me anyway. I did end up buying my own shoes mid-season(didja know they’re only about $ 25 a pair on Amazon?), but it wasn’t b/c of any stankness in Southtowne’s product. The bar here is well stocked with northwest microbrews and, I’m told, also cooks up a mean Gardenburger(they use Costco’s brand). Southtowne is pretty much everything a person could want in an alley.

Went on a Saturday afternoon. There was only two employees on duty! All the lanes were full, we actually had to wait for a lane to open up. You have an option of paying by the hour or individual games. We went with the 1 hour option. After first game everyone was hungry, so I went to get some food. Nobody was available to take my order, or should I say neither of the two guys working there were able to come to snack bar. I waited 15 minutes! Which was taken off my hour of bowling! When I finally contacted someone, I was told it would be awhile. Ohh k. Once the food arrived, it was actually pretty good! Management, you need to staff your alley adequately for the weekends! Just a thought.

Not the best bowling alley I have been to and it is expensive as far as alleys go. The food is greasy but tastes good enough for bowling. The shoes are nice and comfortable. Our group of five were given a lane that had to be manually turned on my an attendant who had to run back behind the machine and manually switch on the light. The floor hadn’t been recently waxed and the balls reacted differently than I have had to deal with before. Granted, I am not a professional and can hardly throw a spare on a good day, but all five of us agreed that it was the worst game we have played. It was fun but I think we will try other alleys before returning to Southtowne Lanes.

SouthTowne Lanes is the place to go when you want to get a good bowl in! I suppose a bowling alley is a bowling alley, but I was most impressed with the quality of the bowling shoes! They were clean [looking, at least], new, and dare I say — even stylish! SouthTowne also has billiards and cold [alcoholic] beverages. Overall, a good place for a date, family outing, or hanging out with your friends!
