I was looking for a fun place to get some grub before a concert and what’s more fun than street tacos! It was a Friday so I faced the same problem as many other reviewers… Nowhere to park in the lot. However, I was able to find street parking a few blocks away so no harm done. The line to order was pretty long but I had a hard time figuring out what to order anyway so I needed the time! Plus, there was plenty of interesting art to look at. My personal favorites were the modern skull paintings and the fresh flowers in tequila bottles. By the time my friend and I got to the counter, I had decided on one carne asada taco, one chicken and one calamari. Each taco was approximately $ 3 which I don’t think is unreasonable price to pay for fresh ingredients. I also ordered their bottled orange soda and some chips and guacamole to start. Let me just say, the guacamole is to die for! It doesn’t have the traditional chunky texture, but the flavor is divine! I also enjoyed the orange soda because it’s made with natural flavors and real sugar cane. Plus the citrus added a nice balance to my meal. My favorite taco of the three by far was the carne asada. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The chicken taco was just okay, nothing terribly memorable but the greens added great texture. The calamari taco was inedible in my eyes. The squid was not breaded which I thought was odd but in addition to that, the pieces were cut too thick making them incredibly chewy and difficult to eat. The pumpkin seed salsa was WAY too sweet and I ended up throwing this taco away. I would stick to the carne asada tacos if I ever came back, definitely the star here! Overall, Tacovore is a very unique place with delicious flavors and fresh ingredients.

Still searching for the BEST local sourced, organic and well run Mexican restaurant. This place doesn’t cut it. We went on a Friday about 5 p.m. They have ONE cash register… you better know what you want because after you have waited in that line(and it can be out the door by 5:30) if you want to order something else because your two tacos weren’t in the least bit filling enough or you need a second beer… you will be S.O.L ! You place your beer order when you place your food order and depending on the mood and drive of the two bartenders… you MIGHT get your beers BEFORE you get your food, or not like in our case. Guess they were too busy yuck’in it up w/the patrons at the bar to be bothered. That is fucking annoying!!! When we got our food delivered to our table, the one taco was not the one my partner ordered. The gal who delivered our food was kind enough to let me pay her for another taco because the LINE was ungodly. I wanted the special«softshell crab» taco. She took my money and came back w/a fish taco and change. I asked her what happened to the crab taco and she said they ran out. so this is what I get. UGH! We are never going back there again! This is no way to run a restaurant!!!

Great food, stiff drinks, fast service, and great customer relations. Best food I have had in a while. The out door settings are clean. And you can bring your Dogs if you like.

I go here once a week and have had wonderful food and service every single time. The margaritas and all of the tacos are superb. I can’t say enough about the quality of ingredients or the quick service.

I enjoyed the vibe at this location. I was a bit put off when ordering that when my wife and I both ordered shrimp tacos we ended up with the speciality, soft shell deep fried crab at $ 9.00 per order. When I inquired about this they indicated the person taking the order was new and offered me a fish taco. How about changing the charge to that of the shrimp? Don’t get me wrong food, drink, and service were good, just no apology. Will give it another try.

When I need a trendy place to take a client, Tacovore is it. But if I want really authentic Mexican tacos, I more often choose a place like Mami’s on West 11th. Tacovore is great about sourcing locally, cooking everything in house, etc., and it’s tasty and good, but if you’re looking for tacos that take you home to southern California, New Mexico, or south of the border, this isn’t it. It’s fun, stylish, a great place to meet up, just not truly authentico, if you know what I mean. The back patio is great when the weather is good, and yes, the weather is plenty good in Eugene!

Very well done with a wide selection of tacos and assortment of salsa. one of these types of taco stands is needed in Hawaii

Went here today after a recommendation from a friend. Parking sucks. But they were busy. Typical«hipster Eugene» décor with all the elements, and pricey food. I ordered two tacos. They were good, but not worth the price you pay. Each taco was priced over $ 3.00! Well, I can say that I’ve been there. But for me, it’s not worth going back. Cool name though.

Really great tacos and margaritas, but it’s loud and pricey. I’ll pay for the quality but sometimes it takes a good chunk of change to fill up when you’re starving. Good hot sauces!

After numerous enjoyable dining experiences at Tacovore, it saddens me to write this review. When(only part) our food arrived, we were asked if we were waiting on other food. We attempted to explain our order and that we didn’t receive the chips, salsa, guacamole, and one taco we paid for. Unfortunately, our waitress walked away with a dramatic eye roll before I even finished answering her question. She returned a few minutes later with our taco but no chips. We mentioned it again when she passed by our table a third time. She left abruptly, once again and slammed the chips on the table a moment later. We were then reprimanded and«taught» how to properly order food at a restaurant. Apparently, we should have confirmed our order multiple times(we only confirmed once) before paying to catch any mistakes made by the restaurant. Even after being insulted by our waitress, we still offered to pay more money. In return we received more attitude :/I don’t appreciate being treated like a thief. Despite Tacovore being one of our favorite spots in Eugene, where we have taken many guests, we don’t plan on returning.

I can’t believe it has been over a year since I reviewed anything. I could weave a mesmerizing tale about a new job, love and fortunes won and lost — but for now I’ll just acknowledge the gap. Someone actually e-mailed me today and asked why I didn’t review anymore, so here goes… I chose Tacovore because apparently I now like to eat Mexican at least 3 times a week, and I have been there 4 times in just a 3 week time span. As far as the feel, this is a really cool place. Trendy little spot that is perfect for the Whit. It has one of those little indoor/outdoor bars that you can sit outside on a stool and kind of look in. I’ve been there a few times with friends and once with my bosses, and it worked for both situations. It can be crowded and it has the set up where you stand in line, order and then they bring it out to you. My experience has been that they are pretty efficient and things move fairly quickly. The tacos they have are different and interesting and there are lots of choices for vegetarians. I’ve had the herbivore which had herbs and squash in it and a vegan chorizo one too. The Ceviche was pretty good as well. I can’t speak to the carnivores, but the people I was with all ate meat and I heard no complaints. The beer selection is ok, but it really doesn’t have to be huge to just go along with light Mexican like that. The basics are plenty — and I like Pacifico so I was psyched to see they had it instead of just Dos Equis. However, it’s the margaritas are really awesome. I had a few of the chipotle margaritas and they were pretty potent, but in that sneaky way where you don’t realize how strong they are until you’ve had a few. They taste so good and are hot without being too hot, which happens with pepper infused margaritas sometimes. The salsas were all good but there is a mango one I like especially. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Overall, this is a solid option if you want to grab aulbite before you hit a show or go to one(or more) of the breweries. It will probably become a fairly regular spot for me.

I have mixed feelings over this place. The seating is a nightmare. You order food at a counter and then have to find a seat and they take way too many orders when there is clearly not enough space to serve anyone. I think it makes customers antagonistic with each other when frustration should really be pointed at the business practice. They have vegan options. The ones on the permanent menu are rather bland. The herbivore without cheese(on the wooden menu and it seems to always be an option) is great and the seasonal veggie taco is almost always fantastic. The pineapple jalapeño salsa is epic. I can’t get enough of it.

Neat, open taco spot with great margaritas, open relatively late. Tacos are spendy but they’re huge! Good service and welcoming environment

During our one-week trip to Eugene, my friend said that we had to check out Tacovore for dinner one night. She said it’s one of her favorite places in town because the tacos are small and all the dishes are really reasonable. Being that I lived in San Diego for the past year – the home of Mexican food and street tacos – I had my doubts. How could this random taco spot in a small town serve up legit street tacos? But, I must say, I was proved wrong. Although you will not find the same fare here as you would on a street in Mexico, it sure satisfied my craving for tacos. I was delightfully surprised. Parking is limited and there are a few stalls in front of the restaurant. We went for dinner around 5:30 p.m. one a weekday and we were so fortunate as to get one of the spots. The menu had a good selection to choose from and I was a little overwhelmed because I’m indecisive. But, there’s something for everyone — whatever you’re craving, Tacovore is sure to have it. I now can’t wait for my next trip to Tacovore. Here’s what my friend and I ordered: «Pescado»: This taco featured crispy line-caught Pacific cod with cabbage, radish, cilantro, onions and homemade crema. I love fish and my friend told me that this taco was really light and flavorful. It definitely didn’t disappoint. I had high expectations for the fish taco, having lived in San Diego for the past year. I was pleased with Tacovore’s fish taco, though, and didn’t regret my decision in the least. I chose to ignore all the other ingredients in the taco – I normally detest onions – but the medley actually worked well as a whole. The fish did indeed taste fresh and it was light, and I loved the flavor of the homemade crema. I enjoyed this taco more than the«Chorizo» one that I ordered – though both of them were delicious – and I would recommend this choice to anyone visiting Tacovore for the first time. «Chorizo»: You could either get tempeh or pork and this taco came with avocado, radish, cilantro and pico de gallo. Since this chorizo option was one of the specials of the day, I figured I would try it, since I didn’t know when it would be available again. I chose pork – I had to ask the guy behind the register what tempeh was – and the meat was juicy and flavorful. I also asked about the spiciness level of this dish, and he reassured me that it wasn’t that hot. I can’t handle high heat, so I figured I was safe. This taco certainly sported a kick and there was a slight fire in my mouth when I was done, but I don’t regret ordering it. It was good to try and I loved the flavor of the pork. I just had to finish off my meal with some ice cream later on at Red Wagon Creamery to douse the flames from the heat. «Mushroom»: This mushroom taco featured crispy cremini mushrooms with ginger, lime, chives, mint and Serrano chiles. My friend had ordered this taco before and knew that it was really good. Though mushrooms are normally not my favorite, I would have made an exception for this taco … simply because the mushrooms are deep fried. My friend really loved the taste and texture of this taco. The mushrooms were soft on the inside and the exterior was perfectly battered. I would love to actually order this taco for myself one day. «Herbivore»: This was the other taco my friend ordered. It featured roasted butternut squash, cilantro, Brussels sprouts, pickled onions and queso cotija. I’m not the hugest fan of butternut squash so this wasn’t exactly up my alley, but my friend said it was delicious and she was glad she tried it(this was also one of the specials on the menu for the day). «Old E»: This taco included seasoned ground grass fed Oregon beef with Tillamook cheddar cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce and housemade crema in a hard taco shell. I definitely contemplated ordering this taco because of the grass fed beef and I love Tillamook cheese. However, since this taco is a menu staple, I figured I could try it some other time. I anticipate getting this selection during my next visit. «Carnitas»: This taco featured smoked, crispy pork with orange, Serrano chiles, cilantro, onions and housemade crema. If I did not opt for the featured chorizo taco, this is probably the one I would have gotten. I love carnitas – thanks to Chipotle – so I’m sure I would love this version from Tacovore. I can’t wait to taste the crispy pork bits, combined with the chiles and cilantro. I just hope this taco isn’t too spicy for my liking.

So, it was good. I’m not going to deny that. I don’t really like tacos, but I got some soft shell fish tacos that somehow fit this not-super-strict Paleo-ish thing I was doing at the time, and I liked them. The problem was, I went with my parents. We made it super clear to the guy at the register that we’d never been before and asked a lot of dumb questions. When we saw the prices we were like«wow, this place is pretty dang affordable!» and ordered two tacos each. Smitten with ourselves, we grabbed all our drinks and hot sauces and doodads and found a comfy spot and admired the décor. Our food took a little while despite it not being super busy, and we were presented with these tiny little tacos that suddenly made the pricing, paired with that ambiance, make sense. They are ITTYBITTY. Be prepared to order two and then go back for seconds. Definitely tasty, but we were very frustrated that the portions weren’t something our host went over with us(obviously bigger folks with likely bigger appetites). With the abundance of mom and pop Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, and the typical line out the door here, it’s not something I’m really into. If you’ve gotta have your super creative, trendy diet, expensive tacos in a big open space with your 26 friends, though, here’s a great spot for you!

Okay, so i’ve tried this place 2 times now. The first time I went I enjoyed the tacos but thought they were a bit over priced so wasn’t feeling as impressed by them. I tried them again just the other night still thought the same about the prices but thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The tacos were pretty off the hook. We ordered 6 tacos and 2 margaritas. The fish taco was fresh and delicate tasting. The carnitas were on point. The ground beef taco was delicious and fun with a crunchy shell. the calamari was good but just a little rubbery but again, good. The margaritas they make are really good, they use high quality tequila which really makes a difference. This place is definitely on the hipster side but it’s very inviting. I plan on coming again sometime very soon.

Everything here is super good and a bit addictive. I love the Tequila toddies & the Ginger Paloma cocktails. They have a tequila bar with many Varieties of tequila. All the drinks are made with juices squeezed daily. The food — my Favorite is when the seafood Special is the Fried Oyster Taco, but the regular Carnitas and Carne Asada tacos are really different from«regular» tacos and are very good. They make a braised Indian spiced lamb taco occasionally that is great. Prices are from $ 4 for a bowl of chili to $ 5 for The specialty tacos. They do vegan, vegetarian and gluten free using tempeh and other items. Locally sourced natural meats I think and good quality veggies etc. The owner was one of the partners who originally opened Laughing Planet. Similar philosophy for this restaurant. Two tacos are usually enough for me. I’ve been here a lot and it’s never disappointed. They have a coffee shop out front, connected to the restaurant and make fantastic organic Coffee with Choices of dairy and alternatives. They also make an awesome Irish Coffee & the Hot Toddies. Serving pastries from Noisette bakery & gluten free items from«elegant elephant baking company». It is great on cold winter mornings with the sun shining through the glass. This is my Morning coffee destination.

What can you say when the margaritas are tasty and strong? Strong enough to alter my mental state so that when presented with tacos artfully decorated with pretentious toppings that have no business being included in a taco, I simply devoured what was in front of me, and was left musing afterwards«what the hell did I just eat?» Margarita memory loss means I cannot describe in great detail what was consumed, but I do remember ordering their squid, pork verde, and carnitas taco options. The meat/protein is prepared with a skilled hand. Too bad that the toppings detract from the overall flavor. These carefully selected and creative toppings are too darn cool for me, apparently, and not the type I want on a taco. Give me onion, cilantro, a squeeze of lime, not cauliflower, mandarin oranges or other weird sh*t. Ah well, it’s a pricey, hip, taco joint in the Whit. What did I expect?
