the folks working here are sweet, friendly, and very helpful. the tacos and burritos are the best on this side of town, and they’re always ready super quickly! super affordable without being low-quality. i don’t know how this place does it, but it is definitely my favorite and i keep coming back. also, the salsa bar is incredible! that avocado sauce — yum!

Walking in felt like entering the heart of Mexico! This place is legit! Had to love the valentine decorations a week after that adorned the walls. The motivational quotes were awesome too lol. This place could easily be a 4, potentially a 5. The problem is my beans and rice were cold? This ain’t camping! Not sure what was going on. My wife said they tasted a little off but I liked it, maybe that is my iron gut speaking to me. Taquitos were great, clearly homeade from scratch. Pazole was solid, could have used a touch more spice and acid but it was pretty good. Salsa bar here is off the chain. 2 kinds of reds, a tomatilla salsa and an avacado one. Parking is kind of Crappy. Showed up when it was dark and only noticed 30 minute parking in front, possibly there could be a lot around somewhere nearby?

Great tacos Came here for dinner. The place was desolate. I hope the lunch crowd keeps them afloat as the tacos were great. I had fish, tongue, goat and something else great I can’t remember. They were all well spiced and pleasing. I, also, had the horchata, which was truly great, and the guacamole, which was a little tomato heavy and Ho hum. The avocado salsa at the salsa bar must be tried. Worth buying the chips for. I ding this place one star for a slightly acrid smell. Not sure if it came from there cleaner, the garbage or the kitchen.

Wow. The rice, the vegetables, the whole(not refried) beans– sooooooo delicious and flavorful. The salsas at the salsa bar too! The woman at the counter was super nice and she had written inspirational quotes on the walls that I loved.

The food is authentic Mexican and the service is good. The setting is not as nice as I would like but what ever.

Have had breakfast burritos here a few times and it’s a pretty good fallback option for me. The burritos are on the generous side and a breakfast burrito leaves me full till late afternoon. They have a great salsa bar and like their guacamole salsa and their brown spicy salsa.

This place is alright. I love getting their pre-marinaded meats to go. The two times I have eaten, though, I have not been impressed. The chile verde burrito just okay. There just isn’t much to say about it, it’s just fine. If cheap if your number one criteria, you will probably love it here.

I love tamales. But not here. We came with high hopes, but the masa was too dry — think Sonoran desert dry– the meat was there but not much help on the flavor front. The guacamole on the salsa bar was runny — how do you do that? We’ll keep looking for good tamales in Eugene. The horchata was good!

Definitely the most authentic Mexican food in Eugene. The ladies who run the restaurant do a fantastic job on both the food and service. My personal favorite is their taco plate. With some squeezed lime and their homemade aguacaté sauce it’s literally perfection. I could probably eat a 100 of their tacos in one sitting and not get sick of it. Their chips and guacamole is also a great appetizer at a great price. If you want a drink they have a large selection of bottled drinks made with real sugar. Additionally they have homemade horchata and freshly made papaya or watermelon drink. I bring friends here all the time and they always love it. Come try it for yourself!

There is a store next door that’s owned by the same people so that’s a plus if you want to find Hispanic ingredients. The food itself was not good. Really bummed out but will not eat there again.

Delicious tacos! I had a pollo, a barbacoa, an asada and a carnitas taco. I loved the flavor, not bland or over cooked. Probably the best I’ve had in the Eugene area. I’m a huge fan of horchata, I loved their homemade version, it was nice and creamy with good spices. The tres Leches cake was also super moist and delicious. Can’t say I’m a fan of their guacamole which seemed to be Pico de gallo with a bit of avacado mixed in.

Went here because of the great Unilocal reviews and left disappointed. We had tamales and tacos, and also salsa from the much touted salsa bar. The food was so-so. The tamales were very dry, and the rice and beans pretty standard. The fresh salsa included with the tamales was delicious, but still the tamales were incredibly dry. The guacamole salsa was very plain — we just didn’t see the appeal that, from other reviews, it has to many diners. The fresh salsa served with the chips was good.

Forgive me, but the bathroom’s chlorine ppm permanently raised my blood pH to way beyond basic bitch. This was such a disaster I’m actually excited to write about it(between throwing up on my keyboard and crying and shaking and whatever.) The chimichanga was, by divine intervention, freezing, and also fried to order. The rice was neon pink, i.e. radioactive, but tasted like Uncle Ben fell asleep at the stove and died next to it. Simultaneously, there managed to be not enough meat, perhaps a tablespoon, and also too much meat. Why? Because even the slightest tinge of meat-product tainted bite conjured up déjà vu of gnawing relentlessly on a Pink Pearl eraser in my nightmares. There was no cheese. Where the fuck is my cheese. The avocado was twice requested and twice forgotten, then supplemented in the form of two flaccid shards. However, the absence of healthy fats were sufficiently compensated for by a pile of lukewarm, congealed lard that someone mistook for«beans.» Really fresh radishes, though. Seriously crisp.

Probably the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food in Eugene. Good luck finding another that isn’t fast food-esque putting cheddar cheese on everything. Very nice people. Decent serve time. Decent prices. I won’t go anywhere else for tacos. Not the best ever, but the best I can find in Eugene. P.s. there are a few carts that can hang. Nothing nearby though.

I came here with my parents on a whim while waiting for Ninkasi tasting room to open. Definitely hole in the wall and you feel like you’re in Mexico when you enter, which is a great sign! I went with the 4 tacos and they were amazing. I agree with the Unilocal!reviewers who said that the salsa bar was great. I don’t think I’ve had anything quite like the avocado salsa, and it was delicious! My dad got the horchata, which was also very good. The portion sizes are huge and so is the menu. Great spot!

Nice little place, easy to get to. The burrito I ordered was well put together, but not very warm. I asked for no onions but I got onions anyway. My burrito was so so, but that’s just my opinion on burritos. Take it how you want lol. It’s ok though, things happen. I’d go back and try something else again.

Have you ever had more toppings on your nachos than chips? I have. And it was at Taqueria Mi Tierra.

Wtf. So I ordered two pescado tacos. And I waited 35 minutes. It’s busy, it’s a Friday night in the newly minted hipster epicenter of Eugene: the whiteaker. I get my fish tacos. Look at their salsa bar, mostly empty, limes are long gone. Sit down, take my first bite. The unmistakable taste of biting into still frozen fish. Spit out the bite. Tear open the rest with my plastic fork I had to go ask for. Yep all still frozen/cold in the middle. So fucking gross. I mean this shit might fly in the dog-slaughter alleys of Tijuana, but here in the predominately white-taco-joint western US of Oregon, it just doesn’t work. I mean one block down there’s a hipster taco place– they’re gonna put you guys under! Step up your game! Keep the salsa bar stocked! Cook the mf’n tacos! Give us water that’s not Luke-warm in ‘disposable’ plastic cups. I mean I had to spit out my bite & walk out of this place.

I was unsure that delicious Mexican cuisine could exist outside of the South, but here it is! I had the chimichanga w/carnitas and my friend had the steak quesadillas. Both were amazing. Best salsa I’ve had in years by far! Anyways, handmade tortillas, rice, and beans. I saw an older woman in the back making tortillas by hand, and she looked proud of her hard work. Overall, the atmosphere was very authentic, with a very friendly staff. I would come back every single day if I wasn’t as poor! FIVESTARS

A friend and I stopped in the market next door and decided we’d grab some food while we were there. He had been here several times before and highly recommended the place so I was excited to give it a try. Since I wasn’t too hungry I only tried a carnitas taco and some of the chips and salsa from the salsa bar. Even though I didn’t have much, I was hooked and will definitely need to go back to try more of their dishes. The carnitas taco was to die for. The pork was so incredibly flavorful and tender – better than any other carnitas taco I’ve had. I absolutely fell in love with their avocado salsa from the salsa bar as well. We tried several different salsas – the one that was served with the chips(your traditional salsa with tomato, onion, cilantro, etc.), a spicy red one(heavy on red chilis), a tomatillo salsa, and the avocado salsa. They were all pretty spicy… not as mild as most salsas you get in other Mexican restaurants. While they all had their strong points, I couldn’t get over how good the avocado salsa was. I would go back just for that! As for the restaurant itself, it’s very modest. There are several tables with vinyl table cloths and some newspaper clippings about the restaurant on the walls. Since it’s a bus your own table restaurant, it wasn’t the picture of cleanliness, but that was definitely understandable. The service was a tad slower than I had anticipated for this kind of place, but again, it was not a big deal. Although I didn’t try much while I was there, I can tell this place has solid food. I’m excited to go back and try more!
