Awsome food great service. Can’t wait to go back. I had halibut and calamari and chips it came with the best clam chowder ever.

I love this place! My favorite restaurant atmosphere in Humboldt County for sure! My husband and I are both from Southern California, and we desperately miss busy restaurants, with delicious food, and noisy people… it sounds crazy to miss these things but they feel like home to us! I had the battered fish tacos, one of my favorite dishes from back home, and my husband had the rib eye. The fish on my tacos were lightly battered, and very yummy! I agree that the tortillas could have been bigger, not a biggie for me at all though. My husband likes his steak rare, and he was so happy when he got it, cooked or slightly cooked, to perfection! Overall this place is gorgeous very cool industrial vibe, staff works their tails off, big, full of people, and the delicious food we were looking for! It made me feel like I was back home, now I know where to come when I need a cheap mini vacation lol! Perfect for our anniversary, and any other occasion really! Thanks Jack’s!

Mellow atmosphere right on the bay. View from every window. Excellent service. Anchor Steam on tap. Along with a few other local and non local options. I hear their clam chowder is really quite good despite the other review I see here. But I didn’t try it myself. Outdoor seating. Seems like it could accommodate a larger group too. Seared Ahi was melt in your mouth delicious. Mushroom appetizer was yummy with a chipotle sauce to dip. All the staff seemed genuinely happy to be working there. It is very affordable for ocean front dining. I’m so happy to find a good seafood option on the bay!

So I know the restaurants name is Jack’s Seafood but I had a special the other day that was duck, and I’ll tell you what it was amazing! It came with a side of rice and vegetables that were fresh like someone had just picked them out of a garden. I will definitely be coming back to try something new. I came during the lunch time and the restaurant wasn’t extremely busy but for some reason the wait staff was kind of slow.

Great seafood spot in old town. creative dishes, especially the sauces(loved the chili sauce and homemade cocktail sauce). Pretty simple menu but there are lots of specials(4 – 5 when we were there) — everything we ordered was perfect(get the calamari!!!). Not over-priced. Lots of local and organic ingredients. Very friendly waitstaff. Wonderful atmosphere for a date. We brought a baby and they were very friendly /accommodating. Bottom line: if you want to place that reminds you of being out to eat in the SF marina, check this place out.

So I come here regularly and love the sautéed Halibut, and the vegetable bisque soup… Well no vegetable bisque soup tonight. The rice pilaf would be so much better if a wild rice was used instead of regular rice. The halibut was a bit rubbery but tasted great. This place isn’t the best seafood in town but for the price it is the best seafood in town. I enjoy it every time and always leave with no regrets. I was actually surprised they had a 3 star review

I really wanted to love this place. I did like but the food was just ok. The plus– great service, friendly staff, clean and good menu. We went for taco Tuesday and I will say that it was all over salty. The salt and pepper overwhelmed the meal. Maybe it was just a bad night I will try again cuz everything else was great.

I was so excited to visit this restaurant because they boast useage of local seafood, but was quickly disappointed when the only local seafood was oysters and maybe the clams. We went with a large group, so many dishes were tried. I tried the chef’s special of cioppino, and while the base was good the seafood was primarily frozen, non-local seafood that was rubbery. The clams were the only thing that tasted remotely fresh. Presentation was beautiful, but it made it that much more disappointing that the taste and texture weren’t as beautiful. Overall for the price I’d rather buy actual fresh, local seafood from fisherman and cooked at home. Might try it again if/when fresh tuna, salmon, or halibut are available.

Large portions, decent service, clean restaurant. Pricey, but tasty! You get what you pay for, and it was delicious! Baja tacos were large and delicious. Fish/chips were fresh tasting and had a pretty big plate of them. Calamari appetizer was crispy and not rubbery at all. Creamy Cajun sauce was awesome. Not a great bar/drink selection, but that’s not a big deal to me, we stuck with waters. We went for seafood and got good seafood.

I was actually very impressed with this restaurant. To start, the service was great! The chowder was really good, I have a favorite at another restaurant in Eureka, but this one is pretty close to beating it. The view is nice and the atmosphere is great, I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. All the meals I saw coming out looked great and it was obviously very fresh ingredients. I will be returning! :)

I believe as time goes on and the servers and kitchen hits their stride they will be getting a higher rating from me. The coffee they served was cold. I’m one who doesn’t like my coffee piping hot so when I say cold it was coooold. The calamari steak I ordered came out in strips so was not what I expected. It was tasty but really salty. It also was really cold inside. Mostly due to the building I think and the open ceilings but it will get dialed in. I believe I will be going back and am looking forward to seeing the progress. I am super thankful for a wonderful new place worth trying.

I like the rustic looks of the restaurant. We were really hungry when we get there, after spending a few days in the redwoods. I got grill steelhead salmon and vegi chowder, it was so good. protato is kind of over cooked but it’s okay. Small portion and priced above average. Nice water front view.

I have lived in Manhattan, NY for over 25 years and just moved here and have been somewhat disappointed in the restaurants in the area. Finally there is an authentic seafood restaurant in Eureka/Arcata. The location is great, ambiance was spot on and the service was very attentive. The food was super fresh with a hint of sophistication. For lunch my wife and I had the tacos 2 different ways, both great and also enjoyed the clam chowder. We meet one of the owners, very nice guy and had a good handle on how to run an ocean to table offering with a modern twist. We are looking forward to docking our boat and enjoying the outdoor patio.

We heard there was a new seafood place in town and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by Jacks. In the beginning the service could have been a little faster, but they were busy. All three of us had the clam chowder and thought is was very good; oddly enough, my bowl was steaming hot, but the other two bowls were lukewarm. We ordered a ½ dozen oysters and they were very good. I had the seafood alfredo and really enjoyed it. The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly and the portion was so big I couldn’t finish it. My wife ordered the steamer clams(it is an appetizer) and was very happy with her dish, the broth was amazing with lots of garlic and white wine. Our friend had the cashew crusted petrale sole. It was also very good, but she found her zucchini to be cold. Overall, it was a very nice meal and we will be back. It’s become one of our favorite seafood restaurants in Eureka. The location is great, right on the water.

Tonight is our seventh time eating here. We know the owner and the chef and the dining room manager so we were and are excited for them to get going after months of anticipation. They have been open for less than a month so they are still working out some of the details. The food is consistently very good although there is some minor inconsistency of the specific flavor profiles of staples like the clam chowder and the tartar sauce. I expect that in a few months I will update this with five stars.

Well, we have been there twice, our first and our last times. The chowder was made with a broth that we were told was thickened with corn meal. Since when does corn meal thicken anything? It left a residue of meal all over the bowl and in my mouth. They explained that the meal was being used to satisfy the gluten free needs of their customers. Maybe they should have used corn starch. Enough about the soup… the calimari had a burnt oily taste to it, was rubbery, and some of the rings were full of uncooked oil soaked batter. Not very pleasant to eat, so we didn’t. $ 3 for a cup of coffee… WOW. Waitress didn’t even stop by and see if we needed a refill. Looks like they went out and picked up some old tables from a defunked restaurant. Must have done the same with the kitchen equipment, old and dirty looking. Concrete floors were not sealed and looked dirty. The sunset was great, but next time we go to the waterfront to eat and watch the sunset we will bring our own food. Well I guess it is back to Gill’s. Maybe they should try their chowder and calimari.

My friend and I went to Jack’s for dinner tonight, and overall, we really enjoyed it! The iced tea is really unique — it has some spices in it(cinnamon, clove maybe… I’m not sure exactly what, but it’s yummy) that made it taste really different and good. I added sugar, expecting it to be like all other«garden variety» iced tea, then realized it didn’t need it. The salad was pretty good, but like others have said, we found the house dressing was a little… weird. My friend ended up asking for oil and vinegar instead. I ate mine with the dressing, but wasn’t terribly thrilled with it. For dinner, I had the crab sandwich, and it was THEBOMB!!! Seriously, sooo good! Tons of flavor, and the locally-made sourdough it came on was fabulous! My friend ordered the sauteed halibut and, while she said it was delicious, found the portion to be way too small.(It looked really small when it came to the table, but we assumed it was just because it came on a ginormous plate.) She ended up helping me polish off my chips, then texted me 2 hours later saying she was still hungry from dinner. Service was prompt, and our server, who was also the manager, was fantastic! No complaints there! We understand the place is still very new and working out the bugs, so we took the little«glitches» in stride. I think once they are really in full swing, this will be a fantastic place! I plan to take my husband in a few weeks to check it out — I think he’ll love it!

As tourists, we were very lucky to wander into Jack’s on the grand opening. Fantastic location on the water with outdoor seating and great views from the interior. Unlike most«view» restaurants, the food here was really good. I had a half crab sandwich and clam chowder. They were both excellent. The chowder contains a great deal of clams with a delicious broth, without the thick flour consistency of many chowders. The crab sandwich is huge, I couldn’t eat the ½ size. The only cons were the details of dinner ware– thick mason jar water glasses, small generic wine glasses and strange slanted soup bowls. In conclusion — highly recommended.

Good service from waitress that has served me from the golden harvest in Arcata. Meaning… experienced. Which you can not find a lot from in Humboldt county. Next to the water. A+ for being the 5th restaurant with a view of the water\bay in eureka. 1st gills by the bay 2nd shamus steakhouse 3rd café marina on woody island 4th Bayfront restaurant now 5th. Jacks seafood. A little unorganized for being its only been open for a few weeks. Food items ordered: Clam chowder– ok, awkward bowl served in. Oysters– all cooked. Would prefer raw. No option House salad– taste like mayo dressing Fish & chips– potato chips over cooked, burnt, cole slaw too thick of slices. Very challenging to eat chunky cabbage. Deep fried fish, ok. Definitely overall not worth _$ 15.00 for fish&chips. A place to maybe go for drinks only?
