I ordered the crab melt sandwich and when the food came it was served opened face on a single piece of bread. I expected a full size sandwich. For the price, it was not worth it. My niece ordered a steak sandwich for $ 19 and found 2 hairs on her plate. The waitress was gracious enough to not charge us for her meal. My husband ordered the Tuna melt sandwich and it also came open face on a single piece of bread. The navy bean and ham soup was very good. What can I say. It might be good for appetizers and drinks at the bar.$$$$$$$

Unfortunate that a restaurant with such wonderful views has such mediocre food. Even the clam chowder, a local favorite, is not fresh. Hash browns are frozen, salads are uninteresting, etc All this for high prices. If the owner would invest in good ingredients and creative dishes this could be a great place.

Absolutely worst meal ever there. Nothing but the clam chowder and bread had any flavor. had maybe 3 bites of the red snapper. Waitress didn’t even offer to come anything when she picked up a still full plate. Not going back again. Bloody Mary was awful. Hard to believe that in a location like that, right on the bay, they resort to Sysco-ish frozen food. Too bad you can’t find good seafood living right on the ocean

Service was great, bloody Mary was awesome, I had fried clams with baked potato and green beans, nice rolls with butter, cup of clam chowder. All food was good but too much breading really on the clams, green beans I don’t think were fresh, clam chowder didn’t have enough clams. My husband’s fish he liked it. I’d say all food was good but nothing special that would draw me back again.

Going down hill. We went there for take out so we could eat on the wharf. One waitress/bartender very helpful for our take out order. The other one was lazy and had a bad attitude. She did everything to avoid us but sprint in the other direction. Fish in the fish and chips was good. Clam chowder way too salty and I had to throw it out. Fried oysters were disgusting and made me ill. Clam strips were good. View is amazing and we had a great walk around the dock to look at the ships. We have been here numerous times when we visit the area but this was a very disappointing meal. I hope it is not deteriorating like the rest of Eureka.

I want to love this place because of its amazing location; however, the food is absolutely disgusting and unoriginal. The menu is nostalgic and has nothing exciting and the waitresses are kind but seem overworked. My recommendation is to change up the menu, add more vegetarian options and fresh seafood, channel what makes humboldt great!

Great location, amazing soup, not so good food. I got the fish and chips and was really disappointed at the quality of my dish. The breading on the fish made it look and taste as though the fish came out of a freezer. The fries were unsalted and definitely were frozen. We’ll definitely go back just for the view alone, but I will definitely get something else.

Horrible food. A party of 6 of us had dinner here, 5 of us had varied seafood options and my 13yr old daughter had chicken strips. The chicken was the only food served that didn’t taste horrible. Sad. Service was terrible. The waitress took 45 mins on a slow night, to take our order. Then she forgot some of our order so we spent another hour waiting for the right food. For a restaurant right on the marina, they blew it big time with their seafood. It was horrible. The view is nice but that’s all that’s nice about this place. Used to come here 15 yrs ago, it was great back then. People that worked there recently have said that the new owners are trying to cut costs, well it shows.

A very quaint place right on the bay. It has a really nice outside deck… if the weather permits! A just a little bit out of Eureka over the bridge. Good size full bar… Nice folks and pleasant(but simple) atmosphere! Enjoy Morry

I’m gluten and dairy free and the waiter was way more helpful than average. The view was nice and there was reasonable cold air conditioning inside the restaurant. There wasn’t a trivia game on the back of the ketchup though. I’m disappointed. ;)

The view of the bay is great! My seafood bouillabaisse was awesome and the bread was delicious, but hubby was not as happy with his Captain’s Platter. He had the same at Café Waterfront the night before and was very pleased with the seafood and fries. Here, he said the fish was fresh, but the breading on it was dry and not seasoned. We might try again next time when we’re in the area

Not sure what to say about this place. The only thing great is the view. I purchased a salad and a bloody mary. The lettuce was old and the Bloody Mary was watered down. Now if the service was stellar then you might be able to overlook the less than edible food. They have a great spot in Humboldt County. I went for lunch. Maybe breakfast might be better? But if your looking for good food and good service this place will disappoint you. Everything about this place is depressing. I had never been so I was excited to check it out. If your in a casual outdoor food mood, check out Ramone’s on Harrison, Café Nooner in Old Town, or pick up a togo order from your favorite place and head to the beach for a fun lunch. Skip Café Marina. Your psyche will thank you.

Good food, great and friendly service. The restaurant is located closer to the tip of the island overseeing the marina.

The fish and chips was awesome. The views were nice. you decide whether to eat indoors or outdoors. The fish was very fresh and breaded after we ordered. Would highly recommend it.

Outdated and just dissapointed when I’ve come here recently. Used to be killer but I think a menu update is in order and fresher ingredients would make this place good again. Love sitting on the terrace with a drink.

Café Marina has a great atmosphere in a great location next to the marina looking out across the water at Eureka. Service was good. I would have given them 5 stars if I had received a green bean or asparagus in my Bloody Mary. I was disappointed with my small celery slice and a single olive. We had drinks and an appetizer of bay shrimp cocktail. We’ve had fancier shrimp cocktail, but it was a generous portion with a very good cocktail sauce.

When it comes to restaurants, I believe that there are three primary factors that should be considered:(1) Quality, quantity, and flavored compared to expectations,(2) Service, restaurant cleanliness, and group size appropriate server interaction, and finally(3) atmosphere, location, and experience. The Marina Café, in my experience requires caution before visiting. If you want to go sip a cocktail and enjoy a view — this is a great place. If you want a great tasting meal where the quality matches the price — this is not your place! PROS The service is exceptional. I have been here three times and the service has been amazing on every visit. Everyone is very friendly and inviting and they make you feel like you have walked into a restaurant that you have been a patron at for years, even if it is your first time here. The atmosphere is and location is fantastic. The inside is dark hardwood and feels like a Victorian dinner of an age long past. If you sit outside, they have a large deck that faces East and looks across the Bay, past the docks to Old town Eureka. You can see the Carson mansion and recent improvements to the downtown waterfront have made it a pleasant view. Often you can see harbor seals playing down by the docks and anglers(some sport, some commercial) hauling in their daily catch. CONS The food. I do not consider myself a Foodie, but Humboldt County has set certain expectations for a mid-range restaurant like this. Almost anywhere else in Humboldt, a restaurant of this price range would use quality ingredients(organic, free range, grass fed, and local ingredients when possible); however, the quality and flavor of the food is exceptional poor. The Mushroom and Swiss burger: Not ripe tomatoes, untoasted bun, iceberg lettuce, and one of those factory frozen patties that turns out grey and with the consistency of rubber. The Chicken sandwich: The chicken was dry, tomatoes were not ripe, and the bread tasted like it was on the verge of going stale. Clams in white wine sauce: Frozen clams from a bag, not the fresh local ones that grow in the bay!

The chowder tasted ok but was served luke warm. I had a fish and chips lunch entrée. The fish was bland; fries were average. The food there was definitely not memorable. The only take from this place was the view of the bay. It’s worth coming here on a nice day and enjoy lunch at the water front. I wish the food was a little better. I enjoyed the view and good service.

Great location and atmosphere, nice friendly, competent staff,… Could use a few more local fresh caught right here options in the menu. Would be nice to have a weekly special of a fresh catch and fresh organic veggies and maybe a fresh baked desert. I know too many items come from Sysco and for the price they could do just as good shopping at the farmers markets or local fishermen, dairymen/creamery also The locals love it here and it’s super busy in the summer. They even brought breakfast back… Just a few kitchen changes… Also…don’t cook with so much butter… Sometimes the veggies are soaked
