Really bad service and limited variety of food. There isn’t enough food in buffet and trays are usually empty. Food is okayish. One can only eat if she is really hungry.

My problem with Tandori Bites is that their buffet never changes no matter what day of the week it is. Always the same dishes at the budget. They ought to serve different dishes so that we become familiar with them and would know what to order at dinner time. It’s gotten pretty boring

After some serious ups and downs with changing owners over the last few years, I can finally say that this place has become a dinner favorite when we feel like Indian food. The choices are exciting for both Vegetarians and Omnivores, and the choice of mild, medium or spicy for practically any meal hits a really great, flavorful spectrum. Also, if you forgot to make reservations at the popular spots on a Friday or Saturday night, this is definitely a great place to go — never too crowded.

If you’re driving through, this is not a place I would tell you that you must stop. However, if you live in Humboldt County and want some good Indian food then this is the place to go. The Lunch buffet is mild in flavor, nothing is spicy, and all the dishes are easy on people new to Indian Food. If you like full flavor Indian food(like me), go for dinner and order from the menu. I was excited to see on the Chicken, Lamb, and Goat on the lunch buffet for about $ 11. Vegetarian options were amazing! When it comes to Indian food, I can almost see myself being a vegetarian because the flavor is so good! In terms of looks, the outside looks worse than the inside. However, even the inside is a little off putting — but the service and food will win your heart and mind!

Don’t be put off by the depressing exterior of the restaurant. Surprisingly good buffet. Not huge, but really good. I tried the tandoori chicken, daal, chicken curry, something that had peas in it, saffron rice. Naan was served fresh once I sat down. Price was not cheap(around $ 14, I think, including a soda), but acceptable. The server seemed absolutely miserable. He didn’t bother with any kind of warm greeting or crack a smile the entire time. I’m so sorry you don’t want to be here, but I hope my generous tip cheered you up. I had to laugh that the women’s bathroom had 2 toilets sitting side by side with no wall between them. Perfect if you are BFFs and are good with peeing in the same room with no privacy. Guys do it all the time, but women, not so much.

My wife and I were very impressed. Best Indian food in eureka hands down. We shared the butter chicken, lassi, garlic naan, and rice & it was plenty to split. As far back as I can remember this building has always been an Indian cuisine. This is the best one of them all.

I have been eating at this restaurant for ten years – it has been through at least four owners during that time. I refused to eat there for a couple years. The good news is new ownership and a remodel. The Ok news is the food – I would certainly give this place two stars in the bay area, but in Eureka we are glad to have some Indian food. The food does run to bland as some reviewers say – I think they probably skimp on the more expensive spices i.e. cardamom. Although the naan is real, it often comes out under-done and even un-buttered. The buffet is inconsistent, which means that it runs from decent to «meh». You may get lucky and hit the buffet on a day when they have lamb, or you’ll likely see goat, chicken(always), occasional fish – not great. Bottom line is that the place is mediocre, but if you are in Eureka and want a fix of Indian food it will likely work – I say that having eaten Indian food around the world – would love it if they«upped their game» a bit, but as I have said it is much better than in previous years.

So, on our way to Oregon we stopped by this Indian restaurant going by some great reviews this place has got! But am sorry to say but this place was a disappointment. We ordered one cottage cheese gravy, biryani, raita and garlic naan. The quantity of raita was barely sufficient for one person. The person taking the order did not tell us that they were serving a complimentary rice with cottage cheese and about the raita quantity. As a result the biryani we ordered was a total waste. Also, the food quality was not upto the mark. Overall, it was a bummer!

My first time in eureka and I wanted something good. Walking down the street and the yummy smell overwhelmed me. So I had to try it. It was almost closing time, the waiter was very friendly and told my husband and I to sit down and eat! We ordered vegetable samosas, butter chicken, tandoori mix, mix Naan basket and raita. Everything came out in a timely manor for a homemade Indian meal. About 20 – 30 minutes. All I have to say is I’m a chef from a east Indian background, raised with this cusine and its SHMISHMAZING. I highly recommend you come try it out for yourself :-)

Was in town for business and had high expectation for this place with so many good Unilocal reviews … Well I was extremely disappointed. Maybe it was because I had the buffet cuz a lot of times the buffets cooked in mass quantities just isn’t as good But one word that describes everything would be BLAND. I don’t think I’ve ever been to an Indian restaurant and actually had to use the salt shaker on the table. Tandoori chicken was disgustingly dry and burnt. Don’t even get me started with the naans… I think I’ve had playdoh that tasted better and more flavorful. I also don’t recall not having been able to eat a full second plate at a buffet. I’m Asian so i have the cheap trait. No matter how bad the food, I have this instinctive urge to at least eat enough to get my money’s worth. But after the first plate(which I didn’t get much just sampling everything) the second one I got some butter chicken(by far the most edible out of all the choices) and rice and that’s it. I took a few bites and I’m just like I cant torture myself like this… I left within like 20 mins of sitting down. Worst $ 13 I’ve ever spent.(Ps lunch buffets are $ 9.99 plus tips) McDonald’s across the street was looking very appetizing… Yeah how sad right? Now maybe I am too used to the bay areas abundance of amazing Indian restaurant but no seriously I’ve had better Indian in a mall’s food court than this. So… Yeah good luck.

The place is not very pretty, but the food cerrainly made up for it. We had #61 and #63(don’t remember the names). Delicious veggy balls in peanut sauce with spices and the coliflower with potato, tomato and spices(with ginger! Yummy). The Basmatti rice has cardamon, saffron, fennel …(I guess I forgot something :-/) and the bread varieties are great. I loved everything! Portions are generous!

After hearing that Naan of the Above had changed management and the food wasn’t what it used to be, my wife and I decided to take a chance and try Tandoori Bites in Eureka. From the outside it is a bit deceptive, looking a bit run down(I think this building used to be a Chinese Restaurant IIRC) and weather worn. Walking in, we were both surprised at how spacious the place was and how nicely clean it was. A very big contrast with the outside. We were sat immediately and got out menus. A pretty standard selection of curries, vindaloos, naan, and such. I ordered the appetizer sampler(a potato samosa, veggie parata, paneer parata, and chicken parata) and some mango chutney. My wife went for the chicken korma but asked for lamb instead. The waiter was a little hesitant to make the switch at first but after some thought said that was okay. After a little wait the appetizer came. The samosa was nicely spiced with potatoes and peas, while the paratas were freshly from the frier, nicely crunchy. The dipping sauces, sweet tamarind and cilantro chutney I think, were good as well. The mango chutney was much more like marmalade than I expected. To be fair, I haven’t really had mango chutney much when I go to Indian restaurants so take that with a grain of salt. After the appetizer came the lamb korma. The korma was amazing! The lamb was fall apart soft, the sauce was creamy, nutty and delicious. The curries here come with«plain» rice, i.e. basmati with cinnamon, cardamom, and saffron, so be aware if you are used to only getting the curry by itself. We had ordered a naan in addition and this might have been a bit much for the two of us. Overall, this was a great meal. The seasoning was great, not under seasoned to my taste. Service was attentive without hovering.

Finally! Came here for buffet today. There’s a good array of dishes. The food was really good. The curries were nice and smooth, and the tandoori chicken was good. The naan they gave us was nice. Although the service is a bit slow, the food was good and overall a nice lunch experience. Will be going back.

I’m actually a curry snob so I’ll get that out of the way so you can understand where I’m coming from lol. I always worry about eating at an Indian restaurant because bad Indian food is very bad, however we gave this a try because we heard good things, new owners and such. Firstly the restaurant is clean and there’s lots of room for groups. The menu is pretty simple with just the right amount of entrees with clear explanations. The guy who greeted us and served us had absolutely no personality, he was very bland and really didn’t say much but he was very attentive to our needs so that’s good enough for me. The Samosas we had for starters were delicious, spicy and I was excited to see what the rest of the feast would be. The food was good, only good. It felt homemade and you could taste the cardamom etc, which is a good thing but there wasn’t enough spice or heat? We ordered medium and mild and there was no difference between them. My daughter liked the korma and the Chana masala, she likes mild and she’s vegetarian so she was happy! Great food for vegetarians by the way, but if your a serious curry/Indian food eater this restaurant is not for you. The food here has the potential if they just turn up the notch a little. It’s almost like the beginners guide to curry kinda place. The prices are very good and I was surprised our meal for 4 was only $ 54! We had rotis and naan but only drank water. I think the lunch buffet for $ 10 would be a good deal for anyone including me lol

The regular menu is way better than the buffet. The place is very nice and accomodating to larger parties! The flavor is more geared to Americans who may be overwhelmed but a ton of spices! Not really my thing to be accommodated! I love the flavor of culture and the experience you get from authentic food! I got kinda sick from the buffet and havent been back since. I may give it a try in a few months! Then ill update my review!

This review pertains to the lunch buffet only, as I have not yet ordered off the menu. The buffet, while an adequate sampling if dishes, fell flat in terms of flavor. The vegetarian side had more flavor/texture going for it than the meat lovers dishes. Overall, it seemed as though the offerings at the buffet were meant to cater to those very new to ethnic cuisine. The vindaloo, while having a slight kick, was a bit runny/watery compared to my previous experiences, as were the tikka and goat curry. The flavor overall lacked the characteristic robustness of Indian food. Even the chai was more like milky water than spiced tea. Standouts included the veggie pakora, naan, tandoori grilled chicken and vegetable medley; each was spiced/prepared well. If you are craving selection and value for your dollar, this place hits the mark. My buffet, naan and chai came to about $ 12 before tip.

What a relief to see this genre represented in a way that does justice to it, in this county! I attended the buffet on a friday, near the end of the buffet week… Whereby making sure I’d get the low end of the fare. Knowing this… But going in anywhere… I was amazed by literally every dish. There were a few that were new to me: coconut curry Brussels sprouts? Nailed it! What a good combo! Why 4 stars? The tea. I ordered ho tea. It came Luke warm, at approximately 6 ounces. It cost $ 2. No offers of refills or water refills. This may also have been due to the final-hour-of-week-timing. The salad was amazing! If you’re stuck in Eureka, this should be your lunch stop!

More like 4.5, but with just one chance at trying them, I’ll go with a 4. Had their lunch buffet and enjoyed it. They had two serving stations, one with vegetarian selections(including 2 kinds of rice), and the other for carnivores(4 entrees). While I found many of the selections to be a bit underspiced, I also found some to be particularly tasty. Most outstanding was a desert that I’d never had before, and can’t tell you the name or even describe it(other than to say it reminded me of a mashed, sweet Idli with rasins). They also had the best salad greens I’ve ever seen at an Indian buffet(and I have tried scores of them). As for the hot foods, my favorite was the Chicken Tikka Masala; the sauce was delicious, and the chicken was tender and fresh. The Tandoori Chicken was also very good. I appreciated having 4 veggie entrees, but honestly none of them stand out in my mind now(less than a week later). Service was subdued. They didn’t swoop in and remove our used plates instantly as some places do, but they did seem to be watching and removed them when they were absolutely sure we no longer wanted them.
