I’ve visited Velluntini both as a café customer, and as a business owner for supplies probably 50 times in the last few years. Coffee-wise, the café is mediocre at best. The employees are alright, for the most part(though a couple try to Eeyore everybody, at times). The café mediocrity is made up for by the goodies. Their baked goods are usually pretty decent. Tuesdays they do nickel cookies… Which is an awesome tradition. I have had a couple pies and cakes by Velluntini and they were okay as well. Honestly, I sometimes feel these guys get by on reputation as much as by the merit of their craft. One this g I’ve noticed and have to mention is that senior’s love this place. I’m not sure if its nostalgia from the old school bakery that this replaced… Or just the ambiance of the space… But of you have an older friend that you want to go sit and visit with… This place is a hit.

I don’t care much for the pastries. Too heavy and literally dripping with frosting. There’s no flavor, just a mouthful of sugar. Greasy(too buttery?) croissants. They do a good job on sandwiches. Lots of nice choices. You get a choice of chips or potato salad with a sandwich. The potato salad is ok, like Safeway deli. They do a funny thing with the chips. If you order chips with the sandwich, they just throw in any old flavor. It’s kind of fun to see what you’ll get. The service here runs the gamut. Usually ok. Can be a little annoying because there’s no line but people are polite about it. A defined line would eliminate a lot of complaints. MAJORPETPEEVE: They have a rack of pastries sitting on top of the counter that is NOT covered. Everyone who orders is breathing on it(sneezing, coughing, spitting…). I have spoken to the manager about it more than once. It’s really disgusting for them to have exposed food sitting out right under people’s noses like that but they don’t care. Makes me wonder what’s going on in the back that we can’t see. The whole place feels old, run down, and a little dirty. Desperately needs updating and a fresh face. Needs a hip baker and businessperson to turn it around. So sad.

I wanted to like this bakery. You can tell the owners value themselves more than their customers. I was ignored by 2 kids behind the counter. the manager wasn’t very welcoming. it took 15 minutes for coffee and a pastry. the tables are dirty. regular customers act like they should be served first, we’ll because they are #1. It makes me wonder about the rumors I’ve heard about this family business. I wouldn’t waste your time or money here. there are better bakeries in town.

Well I cannot write too much as the day I went in to have a cake made the Baker was not working. However they make a baddass cup of coffee white mocha something I believe and we also nice enough to recommend Ramones, which OMG I will always go back to for my birthday cakes or any cakes. Best I ever had. But super nice wed Baker.

Their bakery goods are great; however, I don’t like being ignored, made to wait, and then ignored again while they wait on someone who just walked in the door after I’ve been patiently waiting for nearly 5 minutes just to get a couple of doughnuts. Am I invisible? Never was acknowledged.

Shitty ass place. Can’t even handle a couple service dogs in without kicking one dog out of the stablishment. If u are a dog lover screw this place. I will never go back to that shitty place!

Vellutini Baking has been here years, local fresh baked goods everyday. Good coffee(I wish they had cinnamon and nutmeg) and great baked goods, croissants, bread, and the most fabulous 5 cent chocolate chip cookies on Tuesdays. I make a cup of coffee with a couple of their cookies in my coffee mug for breakfast most mornings. My wife especially like the croissants and molasses cookies.

I’m not crazy about most of their baked goods, but the 5 cent cookies? Pure genious. Good sandwiches. I haven’t ordered coffee here for a long time but it used to be quite weak. They also make an amazing cake with chocolate and strawberries. A little pricey but great if you want to splurge.

Vellutini Baking has been here years, local fresh baked goods everyday. This is a solid little bakery. Family owned and operated, you can feel the energy when you walk in, people all about — a small seating area to your left as you enter, usually folks sitting enjoying a cup of coffee with a fresh pastry or baked good. The young man that waited on me my last visit — with a smile and a thank you sir — delivered my cup of coffee right to me. Counter walk up service with a smile, there is usually a line in the mornings. Display cases loaded with all kinds of great looking baked goods. Racks full of fresh breads, rolls — the fresh baked breads smell fills the air. People picking up breads and baked goods for their week, folks sitting and visiting over some kind of fresh baked treat. Killer breakfast bagels and awesome croissants. A great cup of coffee. They bake almost every imaginable pastry or baked good you could want; cookies, pies, turnovers, danishes, rolls, breads, pull apart rounds, dutch breads — the list goes on. After my breakfast bagel and coffee, as I was trying to walk past the fresh baked pies… I did not make it — a fresh baked pecan caught my eye, it went with me — it was a solid dessert — not as good as my grandmothers but a good pie. A solid 3 ½ Stars — rounded up for the great service and cool energy this neat little bakery has. 199

Delicious maple bars and sugar cookies. Yummy almond croissants, but subpar croissants and chocolate chip cookies. It’s ok I will be back to try other goodies since the other things I have tried have been by far the best in its category. I have yet to try their coffee and dutch bread. Will be back. This is the best place for baked goods in Eureka!

My favorite place in town to get an espresso drink. Reasonable prices and great weekly drink specials. Their apple turnovers and German chocolate Danishes are amazing.

My favorite little Humboldt bakery! We know the family that owns and operates this little local business and they truly put their heart and soul into everything they do there. I got a cheese Danish this morning for breakfast– it was delicious and the girl at the front counter gave us a big smile! I also love how you can see back into the kitchen. Very cool.

As much as it pains me to write a less than stellar review for a local business, here we are. I normally would rate this place a 3, maybe 4. Staff is nice. The baked goods are pretty good, drinks are okay. Today I ordered a ½ sandwich– it took over 20 min to get! Multiple People who ordered to go sandwiches after me got their food before me, by 5 minutes! Not impressed with the organization, or lack thereof. Not staffs fault, need better systems in place to be more efficient.

Only place on the coast to get a good local rye bread. I’ve tried a couple of other breads there as well which were all very good. If you live on the coast and like rye you know there arent any options. Westerners are sourdough junkies but have largely forgotten the marvels of a good rye.

I remember this place being better in high school. It’s not bad, they’ve raised the prices on everything. The sandwiches aren’t anything special, and now paying more for them is just silly. 5 cent cookie Tuesday is pretty awesome, if I’m going to go in there for anything besides meeting someone for coffee(which is also over priced) it’ll be that.

Great for a quick lunch and COOKIES for dessert… for just 10 cents!!! Don’t let the 10 cent cookie advertisement fool you though, it’s a bag of cookies for $ 1, being around 5 or 10 cents each, can’t remember anymore… but they’re good and local, so why not support! They serve all sorts of sandwiches on all sorts of breads.

They have a nice selection of cookies and pastries. The cut-out frosted sugar cookies are my favorite, as well as the smoothies, served extra sweet with extra whipped cream. The foccacia is good, but my go to treat is by far the ham and cheese croissants. To die for. Most items are a bit pricey, including the cakes. But they are absolutely decadent, fresh, and full of flavor. I highly recommend. This place can be hectic at certain times, but I always enjoy sitting down and watching the cars go by. Good central location. I guess when you grow up with something its«specialness» never really goes away.
