I really like Fatz. The food is good, it’s very clean and the staff is always helpful and nice. Their poppy seeds rolls are really good too! I usually get the calabash chicken wrap, their chicken is the best. I definitely recommend this place if you want a yummy lunch or dinner in a nice atmosphere.

My first impression of this place was really awesome. I was meeting a girlfriend for lunch and we always try something new. I can’t believe we’ve never tried this place in the two years we’ve both been here. Shameful. With a name like Fatz, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m really impressed with the selection they have. I waited for my girlfriend in the lobby and had a good time lounging on the squishy couch and looking at their menu. The host was friendly and offered a comfy booth right away when she arrived. Our server was especially helpful and patient with us since we were gabbing and going nuts with the three menus they gave us. She gave us a sample of their famous calabash chicken. It’s basically chicken strips but better. They’re juicy, with the right ratio of batter to chicken, piping hot, and spiced just right. Oh wow, if these were the way chicken strips were introduced to me as a kid, I’d be a total fatty. Enticed by the chicken strips, I ordered the combo and side cup of potato soup. The broth was a little thin but they make up with«fixin’s» so I can’t really complain. Everything came out hot, wonderfully spiced and in a super timely manner. We never felt rushed, there were always refills available without asking and a pleasant mood throughout the entire meal. I’m definitely adding this place to my rotation when out with friends.

Yea… we won’t do that again. Ordered the salmon it came out down right sushi cooked. I mean there was not a way there was any heat applied to my salmon at all and i’m a sushi eater so i know raw salmon when i see it. My husband ordered the steak medium rare and it came out well done… go figure. When we called the manager over she told me that it was normal that the salmon came out less than cooked, it is their way of maintaining the integrity of the fish. All that meant to me is — i am going to tell you how you should eat your food regardless of how you prefer it. We thanked the manager and laughed a bit, she was a sweet heart and honestly just dealing with an unhappy customer they way that she knows how, being sweet to them and letting them know the restaurant standards. However, we will not be back. It just was not worth the time or the effort.

We might have hit it on an off day but it was terrible. I got a chicken sandwich which was quite bland and fries which were mushy when they weren’t undercooked. My husband got the club sandwich and didn’t both finishing it because it tasted so bad. He also got a side salad, which I always eat his tomatoes. They were tasteless though, especially considering the cherry tomatoes they used were in season and should have been quite fresh. Eveything was sticky, the table, the cups, the walls. The cups were quite dirty with crusted food stuck to the inside. The restrooms were crawling with buggers stuck to the walls and dirty floors. Our waiter was not very attentive and I had to ask for refills on my drink, which he poured over the table and spilled quite a bit. Then walked away and left us a puddle on our table. It also took so long to put in our drink orders that we were ready to order our food and as I was asking if my husband was ready to give his order, the waiter walked away. For getting two sandwiches on the lunch menu the time it took to get the food to our table was much too long. The portions were meager(I could count the fries I got on my fingers) and although we ordered from the lunch menu our bill for 2 people was still $ 30 before tip. I would expect to be paying half that or less for the quality of food and service they presented. I do not recommend this location at all.

The rolls are yummy, and so was our food. The service was kind and polite but a teensy bit slow. But we will come back. The shrimp and grits are the best I’ve had in a long time! !

Last time we ordered the Calabash Chicken and to my amazement it was exceptional great. Also a decent portion for the price. I would have given it 5 stars, but a pasta/chicken dish my son has was extremely oily, and the time before food was ok. Hopefully they cN maintain the same quality on the Calabash… I’ll hold off on the pasta.

The décor is pleasant: relaxed well lit but not overly so. The Booths are uncomfortable toward the end of the meal. Ah yes the meal.; I had the Tuscan tomato soup, if it’s house made it did not taste that way. My wife had the loaded baked potato soup. It had very little flavor and need to thicken some more. It had 3 small potatoes. The salad was good my wife had 3 ice cubes in hers. The spicy ranch was quite good and the balsamic vinaigrette was very good also. For my main course I had the steak and ribs. The steak was a small portion of a low quality sirloin, chewy, stringy but did have good flavor. The ribs tasted good but I only received 3 small ribs and one had virtually no meat on the bone. My wife ordered the parmesan crusted chicken pasta. The chicken on its own was good. The portion was huge, but the dish over all lacked seasoning. After adding salt and pepper the dish was very good. However, it needed more sauce. My children had quesadillas and they did have some flavor unfortunately the tortilla was over done/burnt. For desert we ordered the strawberry cheese cake, it came out frozen. I did not order ice cream. I had the bread pudding, it was all bread and no custard, some of the bread was hard as a rock. This dessert seems to be an invention to avoid throwing away stale bread that is served at the beginning of your meal. That bread is excellent and the honey cinnamon butter is great. The service was friendly but just perfunctory. Everyone was just doing their job, adequately but nothing more, no help with the menu and no explanations.

Fate is a great place to take your family. The Calibash chicken is great. I got a seafood platter with clams strips, popcorn shrimp and fish fillets. Great food for Lent. My daughter got a mini sirloin with broccoli and loved it. Get the onion fries for a great but inexpensive appetizer. It has a great zippy dipping sauce. The hostess/manager kept bringing us baskets of rolls with honey butter. She was really sweet to us and our kids. We will definitely come back.

They have a military discount and that is always a plus at any restaurant that gives back a little to people who give so much. Now on to my review. I went mid afternoon and there were only about six other customers in there. I decided to get a drink as I usually do so don’t judge. I ordered a drink called the Peach Shed and I have to say it was very sweet due to all the syrup in it. It was very sugary and I found myself mixing water into it to balance it out. Not something I will be ordering anytime in the near future. The main course was the smothered chopped steak with fried green tomatoes as the starter. The fried green tomatoes came on a bed of grits along with cheese. The appetizer was nice as the tomatoes were fried nicely without the batter falling off. It had good seasoning and was not overcooked. Many times I find this particular dish very greasy but luckily Fatz has some experience in cooking this correctly. My main entrée was the copped steak I had medium well and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Before I go the meal does come with a salad or soup. I went with the broccoli and cheddar soup. Good soup but nothing to wow you. Now back to the steak. It had a nice flavor added to it after being cooked over an open flame. The gravy was a nice addition and went well with the mash potatoes. If you are not a fan of mushrooms or peppers let the staff know as it comes with all that tasty garden garnish on your steak. Overall the food is good and you will not be dissatisfied.

My old standby. I am always able to find refuge here. My favorites consist of the rolls, firecracker rolls, and the delectable shrimp & grits. I’m always greeted with warm welcomes and fast service.

If you’re nearby and need a convenient place to grab dinner, FATZ will do. That being said, our family only swings by when we’re really tired of all the other local restaurants, and that’s not very often. The best thing to say about this place is that the pre-meal dinner rolls are AMAZING. Seriously, if you need some carbs and sugar, it’s hard to beat these rolls and sweet butter. The Calabash chicken is pretty solid, too, but that’s about it that jumps to mind as being worth a visit. One thing that has always bothered me about FATZ is the seating. Something about their booths is incredibly uncomfortable — I have a back ache halfway through every single meal here.

THEROLLS! If you haven’t had one. Save yourself the five pounds and don’t eat them. This place usually has a line, so call ahead or get there early. I’ve only ever received good service at this location and the food is quite good for the price.

Went on a Saturday night at about 6:30PM. It was moderately busy so there was a wait of about 15 minutes which is totally acceptable. When we sat down the waiter was polite and fairly responsive. The menu was sticky and the lighting in the dining area struck me as too bright. I ordered the ribs and steak with side of green beans and a Caesar salad. The salad dressing was fairly bland though the lettuce and croutons were crisp. The steak was ordered rare and it was delivered medium and the cut was rather mediocre. It was stringy and chewy. The side of ribs was minuscule and drenched in barbecue sauce. They actually delivered one rib that had zero meat on it and was just a bone dipped in sauce attached to the end of the rack. The meat was tender but flavor was poor. All in all a disappointing culinary experience for the cost. I shan’t back.

We went here for any early dinner. We started with the fried green tomatoes appetizer, and it didn’t disappoint! The tomatoes were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious! My husband and grandmother had burgers which they loved. I tasted my husbands and it was cooked well and seasoned nicely. I had the calabash chicken with fries, it was so good! My only complaint was the service. I have yet to have a good waiter at a restaurant since moving here. They guy was nowhere to be found. He then proceeded to act like it was a problem to ask him for stuff. I will admit I’m picky because I was a waitress for ten years. This was just laziness. We will still return because the food was great!

Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had! So much flavor and spice! Can’t believe I’ve been in Augusta 15 years and just now getting to Fatz! Amazing customer service and fast seating. I went during lunch on a Saturday and it wasn’t very busy.(The cold and rainy weather may have had something to do with it). Enjoyed every moment and will definitely be back.

First Impression was AMAZING! Immediately when I was accompanying my wife through the main door, one of the girls greeted us, opened the door inside, and made us feel instantly welcomed to the restaurant. It’s a wonderful change to what we are accustomed to, and added to the evening’s overall mood. We were given a sample of the Calabash Chicken since we were first timers and it was very delicious. I ordered a Calabash Chicken Salad and my wife had a fever, and the only prescription was one of the main burgers(I forgot which one but it’s late and my wife would stare at me for like 5 whole minutes speechless that I woke her up just to ask this at 1 o’ clock in the morning). The chicken was hot and succulent/juicy, the salad was normal to me because I don’t have much to compare it to since I tend to drown mine with ranch. The burger my wife ordered up was absolutely delicious I suppose, her plate being empty and picked clean giving this away. I had sweet tea: This one was special; It seemed like the perfect ratio of tea and sugar(5:2) that it tasted like it was tea-bagged by mother nature, good stuff! My wife had Coke. Coke is always awesome. Our server Amber P. was really nice and a pleasure to deal with, and Marna, the Manager this evening, introduced herself to us and made us feel at home and even more welcome to the establishment than before. Overall: Excellent Service, Wonderful Staff, Tasty Food = Great 1st Experience. Will come again soon!

The service was good. The entire wait staff was very attentive. I added a side salad for only 99 cents and it was well worth it! I had the rueben and the meat was tender and well done. Stuffed full if meat. The calabash chicken was crunchy and delicious. The mashed potatoes were well made. Definitely not from a box. I would have lived to try dessert but had no room! Maybe next time.

I like to eat at Fatz Café! It’s one of the places that I can go with a group and be seated quickly. I like the food here, especially the rolls. They also have great salads. The parking lot is large, never any problems parking. The restaurant is clean. You get quick service at the bar too! During my last visit I had a salad with Salmon and it was great. The salmon was cooked just the way I like it. Our waitress was also very attentive. Not that service isn’t always good, but I believe she was so attentive because of the time of day. The restaurant had just gotten over the lunch crowd. We always come back!

I really came to this location expecting to hate every moment of it. I’m the type of person that would rather stay at home and eat a PB& J than go to Applebee’s or Chili’s etc. My wife, however feels very differently. She was in the mood for salad we had a baby in our laps and couldn’t stray far from home. We were seated expediently, and right off the bat were treated very attentively. Even though our waiter was a trainee with only three days and he made us feel right at home. When they found out that we were new in town and had not been there previously they brought out a sampler of their famous chicken. It was pretty juicy I must admit. The fried dough balls they call rolls there were heart-cloggingly delicious. I ordered the Front porch lemonade, and my wife got a peach sangria. While my lemonade was a tad sweet for my taste, the sangria was completely on point. They were both just boozy enough for us. One wouldn’t expect to have a good salad at a place called fatz. However it see seems that my wife was pleasantly surprised. I had the ribs and chicken finger combo. I can’t say I was quite as thrilled, as my ribs were way too fatty, and cooked by the ubiquitous boil and grill technique. I will however add that the amazing service more than made up for it. Plus, my wife liked it. So, we will probably be returning.
