Andy’s Frozen Custard

First time here I really like the vanilla custard it is very creamy. I past by this place so many times and wanted to try it. I would come back again if Iam in the neighborhood. Nice and friendly staff.

First time at Andy’s and we loved it! Walked over after dinner at Dave’s Italian. Nice and friendly service and we loved the frozen custard.
I got the chocolate raspberry sundae except with strawberrys and I’ve got to tell you that they need to add it to the menu and call it a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Sundae. Creative right? LOL It really was great!

So, this place is amazing. Upon moving to Evanston from the east coast a few months ago I quickly checked out all the frozen yogurt options in the area since frozen yogurt is one of my main food groups in the summer. I was HIGHLY disappointed with all the local options. I would walk by Andy’s Frozen Custard and think to myself «why these strange mid-​westerners, who wants to eat custard!?» I assumed it was some weird concoction of frozen crème brûlée or something. I was blissfully ignorant of the magic of Frozen Custard until a friend of mine let me try hers. Let’s just say… my summer diet was officially blown with frequent trips to Andy’s. I recommend a «go big or go home» mentality and go for a concrete. Probably 1,000 calories in a cup, but oh so worth it. Peanut butter sauce is a must, because well peanut butter sauce makes everything that much better. The mint chocolate chip concrete is also amazing a hot day. I will miss frozen custard when I move back to the east coast — maybe they’ll let me start a franchise?!

It was my first time trying frozen custard and it’s definitely creamier than your regular ice cream/​frozen yogurts. I liked the creamy egg-​like taste you get from each bite, and am a fan of the variety of frozen custard options you get from Andy’s. We came on a random weeknight at 10pm and the place was still busy!

Everyone in Evanston raves about Andy’s Frozen Custard, and recently, I found out why! Their custard is delicious — creamy and thick and rich… and better than Culver’s by far!!! Their concretes are worth driving 45 minutes out of your way for. I would know — I have done exactly that! The

I have been to Andy’s too many times to count. It is ideal any time of the year, especially when it is freezing cold in Chicago. Sometimes I create my own concretes if I want to mix things up, but usually I order the james brownie funky jackhammer because Andy’s has perfected this dessert and nothing ever beats this combination. I do not recommend going to Andy’s after a big meal because although the large portion of rich custard will leave you satisfied, it is certainly enough to be a meal on its own.

Andy’s Frozen Custard has a leg up on ice cream, frozen yougurt, and dare I say — even gelato. And sorry, Culver’s, but they definitely got two legs up on you. Andy’s has some of the creamiest custard around and whenever I’m in Evanston I’ll surely be stopping in to get some more. They, of course, have the two essential flavors — vanilla and chocolate — and although I only had the vanilla custard I’m going to go ahead and say that it’s better than chocolate. Sorry to you chocolate lovers, but vanilla is always better and it’s what most of their blizzards and sundaes are made with.
Andy’s offers custard that you can get yourself from the «pooping machine» as my fiancé likes to call it so that you determine how much or little you want, but Andy’s also offers classic blizzards and sundaes like the Ozark Turtle sundae which is what my fiancé and I split. We order the regular size of this sundae and believe me, it was not small. I can only imagine how big the «large» is of this sundae — I think you’d have a wee bit of a tooth ache… and a brain freeze. This sundae was awesome with the right amount of density and an overflowing amount of fudge and walnuts. My fiancé and I enjoyed our mountain of sundae sweetness at one of the tables that they have set up along the wall — this would have been very nice, except that there was a group of girls next to us that obviously didn’t know the meaning of «quiet». This of course wasn’t the restaurant’s fault, but just know that this does seem to be an epicenter for high school students and college students to gather so you most likely won’t enjoy your ice cream in peace and it’s quite possible that you won’t find seating on the inside.
There’s not much else to say about the custard other than the fact that it’s insanely smooth and creamy. If ever you’re craving something sweet then skip the other joints and come to Andy’s! You can thank me later!

I have to say that I really enjoyed Andy’s Frozen Custard! They have a great amount of items and I can’t wait to go back to try some specialty concretes! I was pretty boring and ordered a small vanilla concrete w/​cookie dough as a mix-​in. It was so yummy! The vanilla custard is tasty!
The location is clean, the service is friendly and fast!

In my opinion, Andy’s frozen custard is some of the best «real deal» frozen custard in Chicago. Although it’s a chain, I’ve found the product to be consistent. It’s the same in Texas as it is in Chicago. Even though it is high in cholesterol and calories, you can taste the difference between Andy’s and Dairy Queen. So as long as you’re at it, add some fudge, nuts & whipped cream.

Alright custard. While creamy and dense, I did not feel that it had enough flavor to stand on its own without mixins for additional flavor. The interior of the restaurant does have a really cool mix of retro and modern feel to it and the service is relatively fast given the limited number of employees working. Wouldn’t mind stopping if I was in the area and it was a warm day, but not worth a special trip.
They do have Sprecher soda on tap and bottles however, which can be difficult to find sometimes.

The original is the best but I always get tempted into getting a concrete (especially if there is a whole slice of pie inside!) Every time I visit Evanston, this place is a must go!

Wow! I just ate a key lie pie concrete made with an entire slice of key lime pie. It was absolutely amazing! My partner enjoyed his Triple Chocolate Concrete, too!

I have bittersweet feelings about Andy’s Frozen Custard. Bitter that I am addicted to their ice cream and sweet because it’s so close to my house. I come here to act like a kid again and reward myself – always. By far the best frozen custard/​ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. Sounds far fetched but it’s true.
I usually order Andy’s Original Straw-​Ana or the Hot Fudge Sundae with peanuts. Custard is always consistent, satisfying. Bonus: if you sign up to their rewards card you can get a free ice cream cone when you register!

Overall: Solid custards with mixers that can be hit or miss
Food: root beer float, key lime concretes, plain vanilla custard: key lime is a little too sweet but the custard quality is excellent.
Andy’s is a little gem that is located in Evanston. It was a few minutes walk from my girlfriend’s place and became a tradition during visits. They make their custards fresh every hour, making it some of the best custard I’ve had. They have a wide selection of concretes that have been hit or miss. Most of them drown out the flavor of the custard.
Unfortunately, it’s located in a land with long winters.
In my opinion the best option is the plain vanilla custard, if you’re eating it for the taste.

My fiancé and I both got concretes here — mine was blackberry with cheesecake and his was chocolate cookie dough. Both were delicious! The fresh blackberries were so yummy blended with the vanilla custard. And the small was massive — could do with a half order or something like that.
The girl who took our order was very fast, she yelled out our order to the other team members and they began making the concretes.
We will definitely be stopping by again!

Oh my goodness it was SO GOOD! Disclaimer, this was my first official custard so maybe I have just been missing out for most of my life. There were so many options, but only two flavors of custard (vanilla and chocolate) which helped keep things relatively easy to decide. I added peanut butter, Graham crackers, and white chocolate chips to my vanilla custard. Oh man, so so good. My belly was singing. Friend got a hot fudge sundae style with warm, soft walnuts on top. I’m not a but fan but even I had to admit these were tasty.
Overall, what a great experience, including the outdoor seating. Just melted in my mouth. I can’t stress how creamy and delicious this custard was. And super convenient in terms of location right near Northwestern’s campus.

Andy’s is the best icecream place in Evanston and after four years I am finally admitting that it is good.
Andy’s offers cones, sundaes, concretes, shakes, etc. The custard is smooth, thick, and easy to swallow.
I recommend if you are going to treat yourself to get the special concretes.
Today I tried the thin mint concrete, and I was really satisfied! The thin mint crumbles within the vanilla custard were like gold in a mine of vanilla icecream. I was so excited to find little bits of the cookie in my icecream. My lactose intolerant digestive tract was not so happy, but the surges of dopamine that the icecream provided to my head negated the stomach discomfort.
Lactose intolerant? Beware! Dieting and you think you can eat only spoon? Yeah right!

I wish I had had frozen custard growing up, but I was only able to discover it once I got to college. Andy’s is probably one of the busiest placed in Evanston (perhaps second to Chipotle?), and for a good reason. There are different options, like cones, sundaes, and concretes, and everything runs a little big so if you don’t want to leave uncomfortably full, order a side down – I usually stick with the kids sizes (or you could bring it home to freeze and eat it again, but you’ll likely finish it before then). I like the feature sundaes or custom concretes – I mix blackberry, pecans, and cheesecake bites – yum!
The store is a little small so finding seating can be hard but otherwise service is pretty fast and I haven’t had a bad experience yet!

This place is so good. In the summer there is a constant line. The custard is so rich and delicious that it keeps you wanting more.
They do outdoor seating in the summer, but even in the winter there is still traffic in here. They are open late due to proximity to Northwestern’s Campus.
The only reason I say 4 stars is because it is a bit pricey, but if you are willing to splurge a bit, this place is a great choice and well worth it.

Rich, creamy, delicious custard! They have a variety of options/​toopings/​sundaes, but I could be happy with just chocolate or vanilla. Usually a small is all I can eat, or I get a blended drink. Yummy! They also have a kid’s size if you don’t want much.
The place has great, long hours and is ALWAYS crowded, no matter the weather. (It was 35 degrees tonight and they were packed… at 10:00 pm!!) It’s mainly due to all the Northwestern students, yet a lot of Evanston’s locals go here as well.
I’m glad they’re doing so well in my hometown!
