I recently learned of the great mission of Curt’s(to help at risk youth) and decided to try them for catering a board retreat. I was thrilled with the result! I would highly recommend them for catering. I ordered a variety of sandwich wraps, a large salad, fruit salad and cookies. My entire board thought the food was delicious and most learned about this purposeful café for the first time. They appreciated that we were supporting a worthy cause. My personal favorites were the Caprese and chocolate chip cookies. The price point was very attractive as well.

I have been to Curt’s several times and did have a good experience but today was not the case. The service was terrible. Ordered coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches. We had to remind them of our coffee orders and waited over 30 minutes for 2 breakfast sandwiches. We ended up just giving up on the food and leaving. There is so much potential with this place but today it seemed like there was no structure, organization or guidance being given related to customer service or execution of managing/serving orders. I may stop back in for a coffee as I really do want to support and see Curt’s thrive but not sure how it can sustain if this is the new norm there.

I am definitely a fan of this little non-profit café. GREAT coffee(free refills) and excellent food. The manager and chef do an excellent job with ensuring that top quality ingredients, and experience is met. The other staff are kids(young adults) kinda shuffling along, and they have volunteers that come in, so that can make things seem a bit clunky. Keep in mind this is a counter service casual café, with a mission to employ and train young adults skills to enable them in the ‘real world’. If you have a bit of an ego and want 5 star service, this is not the place for you to dine.

I usually come to Curt’s strictly for a coffee, or a smoothie. But today I was craving soup, salads, and sandwiches, so my husband, and I, checked out the menu online, and placed an order for pick-up. I got the grilled cheese and chorizo sandwich, with half Quinoa salad, and tortilla soup. He got the tuna sandwich and half tortilla soup. Mind you, we were originally planning on grabbing Panera for our soup, salad, and sandwiches, but decided to put our money to a good cause. Even if the food were bad, it was going to a good cause. But the food is FAR from bad. It was absolutely delicious, and I am kicking myself for not eating here sooner. The grilled cheese chorizo has caramelized onions and pico de gallo in it which adds an unique change on a lunch staple. And the bread is crisped so perfectly that it didn’t get remotely soggy on the journey home, or the time it took for me to get to eating it after the salad and soup. The Tuna literally melts in your mouth. The flavor is just bursting. And the Quinoa salad is made with fresh spring greens and spinach, that are not at all close to being wilted or old. Just fresh! The chicken tortilla soup was by far the best thing we ate, and definitely the best chicken tortilla soup I’ve had. The chicken is pulled and moist, and definitely plentiful. And the tomato broth isn’t too watery like you find with a lot of tortilla soups. And it was perfectly seasoned! Each box had a delightful, and complimentary, caramel fudge brownie. Not to mention it would have cost more to eat at Panera. I will be now making it a point to eat at Curts often!

Service was terrible and there was only one other customer in the place so no reason for no one even greeting us. Ordered breakfast sandwiches which were served about 8 minutes apart. They had not even realized they forgot half of the order. Coffee, which was self serve, had a lot of grounds in it — both the regular and the decaf. The eggs in the second breakfast sandwich was refrigerator cold and not a panini as ordered. Not a single reason to ever go back.

I’ve enjoyed the coffee and treats, also the smoothies, but the chicken tortilla soup I had on my last visit was the BEST! Big chicken chunks, plenty of vegetables. and a generous topping of cilantro! Yum!

I respect what this establishment is trying to accomplish but the food was sub-par and the coffee was, too. It’s a fine place to hang out with the family on a weekend morning but I expected more from a place with a 4.5 star rating on Unilocal

First we had dinner in the Taqueria Saturday evening, delicious food, nothing fancy but served quickly and politely. I also picked up a catering order for a bridal shower that I hosted the following day. Everything was ready but one tray of scones. The manager told me that they would arrive in the morning with the catering staff that I had hired and they did. The food for the shower was great, the young man that served was polite and efficient. Not convinced that there was enough food, seemed a little thin but we had external food from other sources. Overall I would hire them for catering again. And the Taqueria was great!

Had dinner at Curt’s new Taqueria last night! Amazing tacos — I had carnitas, friend had a wonderful salad — both good size servings didn’t leave us hungry. Of course chips and guac — fresh and wonderful too. Food is inexpensive, high quality, ANDBYOB. Taqueria is open now in evenings at Curts North. Dine with a purpose! Bring friends to introduce them to Curts — a place with a real mission(and great food).

Really bad service. About 20 people behind the counter but no one actally doing much. Our order took 30 – 45 min and all the orders were incorrect and then they informed us they were actually out of what I had ordered. Strange atmosphere with bizarre seating arrangements and awful customer service. I understand they are training but there is no strong leadership going on here.

We decided to stop by Carl’s after a day of visiting colleges because of its glowing reviews. And we were not let down! I really enjoyed their cozy atmosphere(soft sofas, local artists’ work displayed, handmade menu board) and I love their mission to help at-risk teens learn the ins and outs of business. I ordered a strawberry kale salad and and oatmeal cookie. Both were delicious! I will be sure to come here again when I’m in town.

Found this place on Unilocal and what a gem it was. I didn’t realize it was a non profit organization which made me appreciate it more until I read the plaques on the wall. Such a quiet place with a great tuna sandwich. I have much respect for this place.

This was my first time here, so I don’t know anything about the place’s «mission». I can only rate the food, service and prices. Let me say that everyone that works here is incredibly nice — from the cashier to the woman who was managing the front area, to the ones that were cleaning the tables. We chose the Lunch Flight($ 7 lets you choose 2 of variety of sandwiches, soup, or salads) Now the food we had(on a 1 – 10 scale): –Goat Cheese Salad(9). Plenty of cheese, light, tasty(many different flavors) but not over powering, balsamic dressing. Fresh greens. Felt good after eating –Turkey and Havarti Panini(9) Super tasty turkey and havarti, nicely crispy/pressed bread. –Roast Beef and Havarti sandwich(7) Substantial sliced wheat bread. Beef was good but undistinguished. –Turkey bean chili soup(9.5). This was the one soup of the day when we were there. Thicker than normal bean soup, but thinner than chili. Unique flavor — kind of curry-ish, which was surprising and pleasant. Overall, for the price, this place is definitely 5-stars

Curt’s Café turned out to be a class act. I never asked for this, but they gratuitously credited my account for the sandwich I was dissatisfied with. No communication, it was just there. I guess they saw the sandwich was half eaten after I left. I’m not writing an edited review because I «got paid» to do so. Rather, when any retail establishment reacts to a customer’s lament in such a way, it should be recognized and commended. The sandwich was late and cold, but they said«sorry» in a very sincere and classy way. They well deserve this edited review.

I didn’t realize at first that Curt’s is actually a non-profit organization that teaches at risk youths skills such as cooking and serving in a real café. I just thought the servers looked extremely young. I got the mocha and the Tuscan Breakfast Sandwich. Both took a little time to bang out but both were made with care and were very tasty. Curt’s has a comfy coffee-house vibe with the community’s best interest at heart. Way to go guys!

We need more places like Curti’s Café. In between classes we chose this great place for lunch on Saturday. Great vibe, décor is very comfortable, and the Living Room is the clincher. Turkey Havarti Panini was excellent. All other parties gave a «mouth too full to speak, enthusiastic thumbs up». The staff is attentive, friendly and helpful. I love the mission of this organization and with the Living Room, I plan to be a customer and will certainly spread the word. I need to make it back for the breakfast menu. Curt’s Café is worth visiting.

Had an event catered and found it to be a good experience. Their sandwiches are better than average and certainly enjoyable if on the small side. You’ll probably eat at least a couple. Chocolate chip cookies are to thin and crispy for my tastes but the chocolate used was an excellent dark chocolate. The brownies were reasonable, and their lemon bars were better than average.

Very chill, neighborhood café with an admirable mission for positive social change. I’ve ducked in here a few times between errands or on a weekend walk. Every time, the staff has been super friendly. The cookies have been outstanding. And the coffee has been of a high quality. I’ve never seen it even remotely crowded. Mostly there have been a few folks quietly enjoying their food and beverages while reading whatever. Its nice to have a local alternative to SBUX.

To reiterate what everyone else has said, love the mission here! I’ve only gotten smoothies(delicious!!) and lattes here to go, but felt warm and welcome and wish I could sit and relax. Very accomodating and will continue to frequent this place and you should too!
