The resources are adequate, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, and it is extremely underused. This library is being targeted for extinction by the Evanston City Council as a cost cutting measure. There is a campaign by locals to save it. The closing of this library would be of no great loss. There is a new full service library in downtown Evanston that is worth the trip.

The librarians at this location are extremely patient and helpful, even when dealing with little boys who have lots and lots of questions.
The North Branch is much smaller than the main library, but there’s still enough to make it worth coming to. The front of this library has couches and newspapers and adult books and is generally quieter than the back where the children’s books and tables are.
Evanston libraries allow those with Chicago library cards to check out books too, provided they carry proof of address and have no fines on their CPL card.
