I used to call this place the«hidden gem» as an undergrad, and now that I’m here for business school I am still sooo satisfied with the food. It’s reasonably priced, decent portions, healthy, and delicious! If you are on campus I highly recommend the grill station of Kafe Kellogg: it has a rotating menu, fast service, and complete meals with protein and vegetable based sides. Where else can you get salmon, broccoli, and rice pilaf for less than $ 10?

Okay so this place isn’t fantastic by any means, but it’s greatly out shadows pretty much all other food options offered on campus. They have an Einsteins, stir-fry(the most popular), and even fancier sushi than the rolls sold at other stores on campus. As an engineering student, I use any chance I get to eat with south campus friends just so that we can dine here, instead of my usual(and much dreaded) tech express.

Nothing special, but Kafe Kellogg is worth not leaving the security(and warmth!) of the indoors when I need to be in the office from morning until night. Like Andrew B. mentioned, the only decent thing that’s consistent here is probably the stir fry. It’s cheap($ 6), pretty fast, and hard to mess up. I’ve ordered it a dozen times by now and consistency is poignant. I usually mix up the vegetables, but always get Szechuan + Korean Garlic for my sauces over white rice. The center stage is decent. They do have an omelet bar on Fridays(I think?). They’re not amazing, but getting an omelet for lunch is something this deprived graduate student relishes over. Besides that, there’s nothing that is really noteworthy. You can get burgers, sandwiches, grilled entrees, salad, sushi(pre-prepared), snacks, soft drinks, and other stuff. The prices are expensive, but what are you going to do when it’s near 0 °F and downtown Evanston is so far away?

Kellogg. Stir. Fry. …is not that bad, and it’s like $ 6. It’s also not worth waiting for 20 minutes in line. So there’s always a tradeoff. When Jacobs Center dies in a few years to give rise to the new Kellogg building, the Kafe will die too, and that’s a good thing. However, they’re working really hard down in the depths of the Jacobs basement to make some decent stir fry given the small space and the tools available, and I think they’re doing a pretty good job. Golf clap. Get two sauces! Szechuan and Korean bbq are usually a good combo. Oh, the sushi is pretty terrible, but the price is usually appropriate. Every once in a while, the«center stage» lunches are not-terrible. Give them a try!
