I am a HUGE fan of cheese fries, I mean, who isn’t?! Well anyways… On my stroll through the neighborhood and decided to stop here for some cheese fries, just a snack before dinner. When I went in I decided to order a Polish sausage as well, so glad I did! Why?! Because the cheese that I received with my fries was ABSOLUTELYDISGUSTING! Unbelievable! What Vienna place sells bad cheese?! I believe it was sliced, melted in microwave AMERICANCHEESE! That definitely killed it for me, not planning on going back. Although, the polish was good.

Being from the city we take pride in the food we eat and serve When ordering we were pretty excited to try out this hole in the wall bc it reminds me of what I have and own in Lexington KY #ellosonbroadway Well enough is enough The cheese sauce is HORRIBLE I don’t know what else to get from this place bc of that horrible experience I was catching the train out of town and needed something quick to eat I’m sorry I don’t think it’s a bad place it’s just that cheese is so bad Don’t know how they can keep serving it

Where do I start? I used to walk to this place from my cousin’s when we were kids. I have fond memories, very fond memories. Sometimes you don’t know if a place holds up after 20 years of tasty, tasty memories. Let me tell you, Mustard’s holds up! I love this place, and the food is just as good! It is simple, wholesome stuff without any flair. Which is what you want in a neighborhood hot dog stop!(That I rode an hour worth of trains to get to)(totally worth the ride!) Also, cheese fries, enough said!

Your Classic Chicago Hot Dog Stand. Basically a shack in Evanston. Been there forever. We had a NOOFFCAMPUS lunchtime rule when I was in High School at Loyola Academy. Naturally we violated it and came here often. Place has the usual Vienna Hot Dogs, thin burgers, fries… the usual Chicago gourmet Hot Dog shack fare. Located across the street from Ryan Field at Northwestern. Fun spot. GREATMEMORIES.

A great place that I’ve been going to since the 1980s. Nothing fancy — best if you go during the warm weather and sit outside because seating inside is limited. can’t really suggest anything in particular — everything is good.

I’ve been eating at mustards for over 25 years. It’s always been my go to in the area when I’m craving some great comfort food. The cheddar they use here is top notch. Cheese fries are awesome. I get cheddar burger more often than not and it always hits the spot. Can’t go wrong with much on the menu. Burgers, hotdogs, polish, Italian beef etc. Mustards last stand never disappoints. My man Keith(who used to work here, RIP) isn’t here anymore to talk sports but the food’s still the same. Miss u Keith! Love this place!

This place is a greasy dive. Its been here forever, it should and will be here forever. Its right next to the football stadium. Its tucked in, so you might miss it driving by. Its classic Chicago-style greasy walk up feel. Burgers, brats, fries… don’t expect Foie Gras. Expect exactly what you should at a hotdog stand.

Awesome place, Great to see a family owned business, you can see why workers put heart into the preparation!

Not very good. The hot dog was cold and the bun was stale. The burger was overcooked, yet cold. I mean, it wasn’t awful, but I’ll be going elsewhere for my fast food needs.

The groupon is great. 2 hotdogs, 2 burgers, 2 drinks for $ 12. Tip… Tax is not included and will be needed. The food was good. Knocking off some stars for service because parking wasn’t the best and the guy who took our order was short and impatient when we asked what was on the burgers to clarify.

It’s one of so many Chicago style hot dog stands, but this one isn’t actually in Chicago, so it’s special. Last century I was a paramedic stationed on Dempster and ate here too often. The guy who always seemed to be working whatever time of day I dropped in complained that my ambulance parked out in front was bad for business, but the location was, is, just perfect if you’re coming out of the Evanston hospital E.R. Then later in life I spent much too long working on my doctorate(that’s why they call it «gradual school» you know), and what are you going to eat on a doctoral student’s stipend? In this stage of life, I’m a loyal alumni, so this is part of the Ryan Field experience. The most important good thing about this place is it hasn’t changed in decades, I’m a big fan of consistency.

Ok, Perspectives are a must! I suspect this eatery is a long time cultural phenomenon located next door to NW football stadium. It easily could be described as a non-mobile food truck not any larger then a train car. When one enters, there is a single aisle that works backwards(order in the back, pay up front). The problem is, this creates a awkward salmon swimming upstream pressure that is stressful when crowds are present. The food is what one would expect… made to order burgers and fries. When hungry, the food comes across 3 – 4 stars, but in perspective later that night when sitting on ones couch… maybe 1 – 2 stars. Bottom line, if one is in a hurry going to a NW game it will hit the spot.

1 stars because u have to submit a review. I called before I placed the order to make sure they could get the food there by 12:15. I explained that we only had 30 to eat. They said yes no problem. I got a text that the food was«on its way» and would be there by 12:01. The driver called at 12:40. When I told him how late it was and that we would not be able to eat the food he said, «O» — could care less. I order on Grubhub so I tipped while packing the order — $ 80 order with $ 20 tip. What a waste! Unfortunately, I don’t know how the food is. I won’t be taking a second chance.

What’s not to love? Cheeseburgers, Hot dogs, french fries and cheese sauce… yes…cheese sauce. This place is an Evanston staple. It’s old(in a good way), urban in feel, nostalgic, and all around reliable(a word I really love). Took the kiddos here on a lovely summer day during my recent staycation. We all had a calling for cheeseburgers, so we ordered up the standard quarter pounder, and we were not disappointed. Burgers are proudly graced with real cheddar cheese at this joint. We could have upgraded to a double, but I think the size was just right, and my kiddos(always starving) satisfied their appetites. Everything was cooked just the way I like it. Burgers not overly pink. Their skinny fries are a new favorite for me – made thin and cooked crispy. Yep, we had to get more of that cheddar cheese sauce on the side. Take note, this place is tight with just counter space inside. I can only imagine how packed it must get after a game, because it’s right by the football stadium. Oh, that probably explains all the sports memorabilia on the wall. Excellent customer service. The man behind the counter, I think he might have been the owner, took great pride in making sure we were well taken care of. A little pricey for a daily stop, but I do think it’s a great value. Ding, ding, ding, I love that value factor! If you can snag a seat outside, that’s a major bonus when the weather is worth it. Yes, there are lots of birds around looking for crumbs, but that makes the urban experience even that much better ;-) Sure, I’ll be back!

I love trying random local dives when traveling with work. The atmosphere was exceptional, right next to Ryan Stadium/NorthWestern Campus. The place was under manned with what seemed to be a relatively new cook the night I was there… I would go back and give it another shot. The Italian Beef Combo someone at my table ordered trumped my choice… But a good overall experience.

It’s a little dive next to Ryan Stadium. Peking is available but tight and tricky; Fairly fast service. I bought a Groupon but I was still asked for an extra $ 2 for tax which I never have to do with other Groupon but no biggie. I asked to sample the banana ice cream then saw a piece of hair in the vanilla ice cream which immediately turned me off. I brought it to their attention and they scooped it up right away BUT they should have taken the whole carton out. It’s not the cleanest place but the people are nice but it does not excuse good and proper sanitation. They could definitely improve on cleaning up the place — they just might get more customers. They are in a prime location so it would behoove them to clean the place up a little. Sadly I won’t be returning even thought my two teenage boys said the food was good.

I haven’t been to Mustard’s in at least 20 years… As hot dog stands with longevity go, this one has years of being a staple for Vienna products in Evanston. On a busy Saturday afternoon, it was crowded the line was long, the service was ok– but the heat was on in the cramped space.(74 outside/85 inside) The Hot Dog and Polish that were purchased were as good as you get anywhere– my complaint with Mustard’s„ it was dirty– Seems like this place needs a good cleaning– the garbage cans by the outdoor seating were overflowing. The french fries seemed to be frozen as opposed to fresh cut. Cups of water were given with no hassle or complaints by the staff. Despite the some what dirty conditions, still a very popular place.

I have been here on many occasions, and the staff is friendly and fast. They get really busy often, and the inside space is basically a long hallways with bar stools and a tiny bar along the wall with some windows. They have outdoor seating, but if you have to sit inside due to weather, come at an off time(to avoid the lunch rush). If you hate crowds, don’t even step foot near here during NU game days. Now the best part: the food. Their hot dogs are legit Chicago style dogs. Their burgers are kind of greasy, but very juicy. Their toppings are fresh and you get tons of them. You also get plenty of fries with your order. Most recently I used a Groupon for two double cheeseburgers, two hot dogs, two medium fries, and two medium drinks for $ 10. It was very worth it. Normally their prices aren’t the cheapest, but it’s a genuine Chicago grill experience.

Your classic«Chicago Dog Stand.» Vienna beef, chili, tamales and burgers etc. Excellent choice for a pre or post game quick meal. Nothing like a Chicago Dog to quench your appetite. No ketchup!
