Pretty good food. Lovely environment. Dinner is better than lunch. Had a great dinner! Forgot the name of the plate but it was pasta with shrimp and sausage and it was FANTASTIC!

The service has been flat out abysmal. I’ve eaten there several times and not once have all the items made it to our table. They always forget the appetizers, the wine, etc. The food mostly tastes good when it makes it to the table. The atmosphere is wonderful and I loved sitting outside when it was warm. Some dishes are seriously lacking in size, like the risotto they offered this weekend. It was not a meal. The creole dish is amazing. The French fries are too often soggy at lunch. However, the chicken sandwich and BLAT are wonderful. The dinner appetizer choices were pizza and chicken wings because they were out of everything else. Pizza and wings? Really? All in all, the concept is good. But the place needs a considerable amount of fine tuning.

To know the Pig is to love the Pig… It is important to know a little about The Dapper Pig of Evansville, IN before you go, thus enhancing your dinning experience to the fullest. Owners Amy Rivers and Sarah Wolf have assembled an amazing, thoughtful team of people who are interested in sourcing as many local foods as possible to create interesting, tasty menu options. Deciding on a two story historic build in the Evansville Arts District is the perfect setting for this fun, art filled restaurant. Rivers and Wolf have lots experience in the restaurant/art/entertainment business in our community that experience is evident in this charming art filled décor that creates a warm inviting atmosphere. The fun begins when you walk in with the décor and continues with the made up, playful pig Latin on the menu. We started with libations or the cocktail menu or(ocktailcay enumay). The Dapper Pig Bar Manager, Chris Hedges, has created a fun list of proprietary cocktails plus offers a full service bar. The wine list(inewy istaly) has an international offering and is by the glass or bottle, you will not be disappointed. One favorite of our group was the cocktail«hatti’s mule» which is a gin, and ginger beer mixture with cherry bitters, lime and brûlėed cherries. Then the starters: We had the cheese plate with is the chef’s choice of Indiana cheese, jams, fruits, pickled vegetables as the season permits and ciabatta bread they bake. Several ordered the deviled eggs which are a more interesting twist of a traditional offering; the eggs are curried and served with spicy kimchi and pork belly. The menu is limited and ever changing due to the local sources and seasonal limitations. However, some entrees seem to be a constant and consistently good. Our group ordered the Creole Pasta which was a creamy mix of Andouille sausage, shrimp, veggies, in a white wine tomato cream sauce. The Gemelli Carbonara with pancetta and peas, the Shrimp and Grits with bacon and egg, on cheddar grits… all served in huge amounts, all very tasty. The half roasted chicken, the Flank Steak, Ribeye Steak, and the Smoked Pork Chop were all served with a choice of two sides and were each delightful in seasoning and presentation. The seasonal vegetable was roasted brussel sprouts and the chef’s choice of risotto was a sweet corn risotto. The sprouts were perfectly roasted and the risotto was creamy, not sticky, with just the right texture from the corn. Excellent side choices, but the smashed potatoes and hand-cut French fries were also tasty and well prepared. Several Tasters ordered from the coffee menu and enjoyed the interesting selection. The caramel covered Bread Pudding and Crème Brûlée were big hits for dessert. Our service was outstanding! Our servers, Bethany and Bobby were awesome. Amy Rivers greeted our group and explained the building renovation process and their dedication to local, seasonal foods. Rivers and Hedges along with Chef Wess Rose checked on the food and drinks though out our visit. The over all perception was lots of good food for your money in a fun atmosphere. The Tasters have their own rating system, we rate on atmosphere, food, drinks, service, and over all experience. We gave The Dapper Pig a rating of 24.3 out of 25 possible points. Visit The Dapper Pig for a delightful and interesting culinary experience; visit Facebook for more information on The Tasters.

The good — — — — - The food is really good. Try something outside your food comfort zone, and you’ll love it. Their chicken wings are amazing. I would definitely eat a meal of them. The décor is also really unique, and it’s really fun to just walk around the place while your waiting. After getting to our table, we had a really enjoyable experience. The bad and the ugly — — — — — — — — — We decided that we wanted to go to this place earlier in the day, then went to the mall. While we were there, we decided that it would probably be a good idea to see if we need to make a reservation, so we went on their website. Sure enough, there was a form you could fill out to make a reservation, so we filled it out. This was at about 3:30 or so in the afternoon. When we show up, we say our last name, and the lady says something like«oh, you’re the person who emailed me while I was at home. I was barely able to fit you in, we were closed then you know? Next time, call us when we’re open to make a reservation.» I found her response to be extremely rude. There’s no reason you should expect customers to only fill out online reservation forms during business hours. That’s not how the internet works. There aren’t «operating hours» for a form. I’m sorry you have a crappy system set up where it emails you personally, instead of going into a database somewhere(I’m a software developer), but that’s not my fault as a customer. Everything else about our experience was great, but it started off on a really bad foot with the hostess being so rude. All in all, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for some really good food, just make sure to not piss off the hostess or else you’ll get an earful.

Truly, truly impressed! I am not from Evansville but am here visiting a friend, I looked up some restaurants on Unilocal trying to find a hidden delightful treasure, and that is exactly what I found! I went the other day but wasn’t paying attention to the hours so I missed my opportunity of trying this place out, being a tad bit more intelligent this time around I went during opening hours. So glad I went again today because it was 100% worth it. Knowing this area I have to say it doesn’t quite fit the mold, but that is what completely attracts me to this place! From the food, serves, kitchen, ambiance… so great! The only down side to this place was 1. My beer glass had a few water marks on it(which this is just me being an overly perfectionist) 2. the management and a server had a bit of a tussle between the two; which was in ear length of me. Just a tad bit unprofessional in my opinion, but still wouldn’t stop me from coming back again:)! 3. Their to-go containers were plastic! Idk about you but whenever I see a restaurant using un-degradable containers it just breaks my heart for our environment(this is just my hippie heart speaking) buy truly an easy fix. And 4. My server who was very sweet, could have been a little more knowledgeable with food and drink product«with being a 17 year experienced server». Back to the food and drinks; the executive chef I found out is from Canada, but has a very southern taste from what I saw and experienced from the menu and my choice of entrée. The management told me that the restaurant updates their menu every so often according to the season, which is very up and coming with non restaurants chains. This is very important to pay attention too!, because that means they choose food products that are seasonal, which means you are only getting the best! I had the b.l.a.t sandwich and it had fresh avocado slices and friend green tomatoes; that were heavenly seasoned and fried! Yum! I also paired it with one of their brown ales that was on tap, and ended my wonderful lunch with an earl grey truffle! I love truffles and I love earl grey tea! So the 1+1= terrific combo to my taste buds! Highly recommend it for a sweet bite at the end! They had an extensive coffee menu with all kinds of interesting pairings for coffee choices, truly loved this too. Again while talking to the server I did find out that their mixologist(who is their head bartender) make’s their own baileys. Yum! Overall the experience was great! Try it out ya’ll!

I really wanted to like The Dapper Pig, having looked forward to its opening with anticipation. Now we’ve been there four times for dinner and I have mixed feelings about the place. The concept is great. The ambience is fun. The menu needs serious help. Prices are high, but I’m willing to pay them for good food made from locally sourced ingredients. For my first dinner there, I had the Caesar salad with pork belly. The pork belly was delicious, the salad itself was ordinary. For my second dinner there, I had the flank steak. It was perfectly cooked, delicious and I recommend it. Should have stuck with that. Third visit, had the pork and beans. It was ordinary. Crème brûlée for dessert was great. Tonight, I had the shrimp and grits and was extremely disappointed. I’ve been to Charleston, SC and New Orleans recently, and had fabulous shrimp and grits, so I admit the bar is high. But there was nothing good about this particular shrimp and grits. It was served with six overcooked shrimp, some of which still had legs attached. There was no sauce, but bacon and green onions around the side of the bowl and two fried eggs on top. The grits were ok. It was edible but I can’t say I enjoyed it. And it was $ 18. Don’t get it. So, as much as I looked forward to this restaurant’s opening and hoped for its success, it will be a long time before I return, if ever.

The service was so slow. Took 20 minutes to have our order taken. Waited forever for food. They were not busy at all. They brought our kids’ food out first and they finished their whole burger and fruit side before our food even came out. I ordered the spinach salad which said it had hard boiled eggs and pickled red onions. There were no eggs, and the red onions were not pickled. Oh and the table was so wobbly we are lucky we weren’t wearing our drinks every time the kids moved. Very disappointed.

We stopped in the Dapper Pig during an evening in Evansville and were very impressed with our experience! It was decorated very well and had a welcoming and inviting feel. The bartender, Chris, was knowledgeable and accommodating! The food solidified our experience… everything tasted great and much of it is locally sourced! It quickly became our favorite stop in Evansville! High recommend you give it a try.

Yeeeeah. Really wanted to like this, but the service was insanely slow, and I can’t tell if the food was good because I had to leave after an hour and a half of waiting. If there had been ANY sort of head’s up that things were running slow, I’d be more forgiving. Or, if we had gotten any sort of discount for the food that my friends had to take to go… The eggs Benedict tasted okay, considering it was reheated 7 hours later. Not $ 13 okay. It wasn’t even busy, and we had reservations. Now, I have reservations about ever eating here again. If people leave your restaurant without eating, you owe them an incentive to return.

Service at the Dapper Pig is sooooooooooooooooo slow. My family made a reservation at the Dapper Pig on a Sunday at 12:30pm. We arrived on time and ordered food around 12:45pm. We ordered brunch. Biscuits and gravy, eggs benedict, etc. The food didn’t come out until 2:15pm. We waited an hour and a half for breakfast food. Some of the people in our party had to take their food to go rather than eat at the restaurant. Our server had no clue how to handle the situation, so she basically hid for most of that hour and a half. And for those of us that did stay to eat, the food was cold! I understand that the Dapper Pig is new. But if you’re not ready to open yet, then don’t open yet. This is what soft openings are for. The kitchen staff at the Dapper Pig can’t handle a busy lunch rush. And it’s not like the place was full. Our section had many empty tables. There was no wait at the front door. As we were leaving, I overheard several servers apologizing to their tables. It seems the entire restaurant got bad service today. I have spoken with several friends who have had a similar experience, so I can’t say it was just a bad day. We left the Dapper Pig at 2:45pm, over two hours after we arrived for our reservation. The Dapper Pig has potential. But for now, it’s a disaster due to the terrible service.

Very nice! Coffee-great, service-attentive, food-fresh/unique/tasty. We went for brunch and asked to view the dinner menu and it appears to be even more delightful. This will become one of our local favs.

The Dapper Pig opened about a month ago. Definitely a place to check out. It had a southern comfort food feel to it with its locally sourced ingredients. Lots of choices with it comes to drinks(cocktails and coffees for brunch). The ambiance is fun, reminding me of quirky food places in other larger cities like Nashville and Louisville. Wonderful service. Seating both inside and outside. I had a Bloody Mary(very nice) with my Eggs Benedict – poached eggs on top of fried green tomato, pork belly, and biscuit. Topped with hollandaise sauce. It was tasty, but the sauce was a bit too lemony for my taste. And the biscuit made the meal very heavy(this might be why I’m usually not drawn to Southern food). I would recommend they revamp and replace with a hearty grain toast instead. A side of home fries(good with some sautéed red onions). The highlight of the meal was the soup of the day, a savory ox tail chowder(with corn, celery, carrots). They called it «Winter is Coming»(a witty reference to Game of Thrones). It had that balance of sweet and savory. There were layers of flavor including thyme that gave it a pleasant aroma. Overall, delicious. I will have to come back for a dinner(I heard it is quite busy and you might need a reservation). I saw Crème Brûlée on the list of desserts. Glad we have something for us «foodies» like The Dapper Pig in Evansville.

What a surprise find in Evansville! Passing thru on business and wanting to eat local, we were directed to the Dapper Pig. The food, drinks, décor and service were exactly what we needed. The drink menu will give you some laughs.

The first time I ever had to eat a burger with a fork. The service was great and make sure you ask for the Wi-Fi password, because the cell service was not that great downtown.

Today I went for the first time to the Dapper Pig, and I do NOT regret it! WOW!!! I ordered: Chicken Salad sandwich, with side salad(white balsamic dressing) and sweet mint tea. I am in love with the chicken salad! It is not your typical chicken salad, it tastes as if it has pesto in it… I am not sure but it is delicious! The sweet mint tea, oh my, it is soooo good! I only had two glasses of it! :) The place is just what Evansville needs… good, local food with a twist! You should go check this place out for sure!
