The ranch pizza was good but felt my arteries hardening immediately.

My favorite pizza place around. From the ranch to the potato, you can’t go wrong with any of their slices. Great place to visit. Very relaxed sitting and atmosphere. The buffet is a great value with a drink included.

I love pizza, but this has to be the dirtiest nastiest place I’ve ever eaten at. I travel the country and eat pizza from all over, but like I said, the worst place I’ve ever eaten. All it would take is one health inspector to pop in and the doors would be closed.

Best pizza around. A hole in a wall but amazing pizza. 7.25 for 4 slices and a drink. Can’t beat it. Try the meat grinder, spinach, or ranch my favorites.

The pizza is cheap and tasty, and there are a lot of interesting options(e.g., ranch pizza). In terms of value, The Slice deserves five stars. My only complaint, though, is that it’s cash only. I love supporting local businesses, but I rarely carry cash, so sometimes I have to pass on by and eat at a nearby chain. There is an ATM in-house, but it’s not worth it to pay the fee.

I was disappointed after reading other Unilocal reviewers reviews giving slice and ave of 4 stars. Horrible décor, dirty floors behind the counter, poorly lit, silk flowers from the ceiling that havent been cleaned in 3 yeas, dirty ceiling tiles. Chairs that are ripped falling apart and mismatched. It seem slike a place that should be reviewed on Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares. With some help this place could have potential, I did their buffet last night 4 slices and soda 7.25, decent price I had a meat slice, a feta and spinach, potato, and veggie, the spinach and feta was ok, the rest was dry look at pics of the crust it is white, not golden brown. The potato slice that everyone else raved about was bad in my opinion, starchy carbs over a white starchy crust, just bad They had free appetizer, liver soup in a pepper sauce, no wonder it was free sounded so bad, I didnt even taste it. The Family that runs it seems nice, could be a nice concept but poorly executed, i hope they can change it

The potato pizza is AMAZING. So is the ranch pizza. They’re always coming up with new recipes. Best pizza in the ville. Be aware it’s cash only!

I love New York styled pizza. And I haven’t found any other place in Evansville like it. The inside is a little run down but the pizza is still good.

My taste buds were in utopia. Best pizza in the tri-state. I’m absolutely in love with their jalapeño jelly, blue cheese and bacon pizza… I stop in at least twice a month.

Different doesn’t mean gourmet. The pizza is good and the crust just right but what gets put on top remiss me of when Mom would try to clean the fridge and get creative with leftovers. Potatoes on pizza? How about some dill and spinach with that? Oh, then there was the unique pinto beans with onions and lunch meat… Give this place a try. It certainly has an appeal for homesick University students. Old, grimy, early 70s furnishings… Not a place I would recommend travelers go out of their way to visit, but I’ll give it 3-stars on what I ate.

This is the kinda place that you remember with fondness because you went to UE and have great memories of hungover lunches at the Slice. But really the pizza quality is not great. You don’t come here because the pizza is delicious, their quirk is the variety of pizza and interesting toppings(mac and cheese pizza?). Food: 2⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Location: 4⁄5

Went there for the lunch pizza buffet. It’s rare that Unilocal fails me and I feel they did this time. I was excited to try some different and awesome pizza. This place isn’t above average, so 4.5 stars is an exaggeration. Walked in and knew a bit of what to expect from reading past reviews. 4 slices of pizza only for the lunch«buffet» and the guy to not be talkative. This is an understatement. There are no signs indicating what’s on each pizza and when you ask, you’re bothering him(I asked him what was on 2 pizzas). Even if you’re the only person in there. In fact, by stepping inside, you’re bothering him. The pizza was okay, definitely different, but nothing special. I like thin crust so the crust was okay. I had one slice with spinach, artichoke, feta, etc. Also the potato, the supreme, and the pepperoni. I think that there were maybe 8 different pizzas to choose from and I got what looked most different and interesting. None of the ranch, Margarita, gyro, or grinder pizza that Russ W talks about in his review. We were there for a busy lunch over an hour, so that should have been plenty of opportunity for different pizzas to be made. When you order your pizza, he’ll grab your slices, put them in the oven, and yell«next!». No explanation of what his system is. After a few minutes, he’ll yell the type of pizza, even if you’re a few feet away from him already waiting at the counter. Then you go eat your pizza. Order again if you haven’t eaten your 4(or pay $ 1.50 for extra slices). You don’t pay until after you’re done, cash only. The place was busy so it seems like plenty of people like it. I don’t understand the draw. I won’t be going back to bother the owner.

Variety of options — I had a slice of pizza with spinach, feta, and olive oil & another with potatoes and cheddar — both were delicious! Just remember to bring cash; they don’t accept credit cards.

The pizza is great. Love the thin crust. I had the clam scampi which was absolutely delicious. We also got pepperoni and sausage & bell peppers. The susage & bell peppers had a ranch sauce which I would recommend getting on the side. The owner is interesting fellow; nice but don’t expect a lot of small talk with him. The pizza is fabulous; make sure you go.

Some of the best pizza around if you like a thin crust. As the name suggests, they specialize in pizza by the slice. However, if the owner pushed carryout more I think he’d sell a lot of whole pizzas too(Mostly because the dine in area is a dump). However, I’ve got to admit that the variety and pizza quality here is amazing. This place has some interesting flavors… potato, ranch, gyro, spinach & feta, etc. This probably isn’t the place to go to get a plain pizza, but if you must they have a terrific sausage pizza. I still go here once in a while despite their problems(below). If the owner fixed the problems I’d probably go 3 – 4 times per month. The Good: 1. Great tasting pizza 2. Awesome variety 3. Affordable food & beer prices The Bad: 1. Bathrooms are disgusting and they’re often missing soap and paper towel. 2. This place needs to be cleaned up. You can say that some of the clutter is «décor» but overall, this place is a dump. Behind the counter you can always see crap scattered everywhere. Things look disorganized and it makes you wonder about the cleanliness and safety of the food preparation. There are a bunch of dated arcade games in the back. Can’t tell if this is a restaurant of a teen hangout. However, since its almost always empty in the back I’m not sure its serving any purpose at all. There is a giant tv in the front that has horrible picture quality and needs to be replaced. 3. The menu is confusing. There is some kind of buffet deal here, but its not clear how it works and what you get. This place has some unique pizzas and almost every time I’m there someone is asking what each pizza is and what the toppings are. It would be nice if things were labeled to eliminate the guesswork. 4. CASHONLY. People expect to be able to pay for pizza with a credit or debit card just like they do with every other pizza place in the area. Raise your prices 3−4% if you must, but give your customers the ability to pay with plastic. Studies have shown that customers spend more on average when credit cards are a payment option. 5. The parking is horrible, but at the current location I’m not sure there is a fix to that.

One of the best pizza places in Evansville. If you love hole-in-the-wall places that serve REALLYGOODFOOD, then I recommend trying the Slice. If you want a more upscale atmosphere and over-the-top friendly service, then go to Pizza Hut. The owner who usually works behind the counter reminds me of a mix between the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld and my Grandfather(gruff, but endearing). For me, it is all about the crust. It reminds me of Rome, Italy. It’s thin and crunchy, but soft and chewy. My favorites are the Gyro Pizza and the Spinach & Feta Pizza. The ingredients are fresh. You can get a chance to view all of the pizzas of the day right in the window and order your slices from there.

It is funny that it was literally across the street from my college and yet I probably didn’t eat there as much as I should have… and now I miss it! The Slice is not your average pizza place… and that’s why I love it! It may look a little rundown, but that is its charm, its character… which a lot of restaurants are lacking today. You go in and you can take a look at the pizzas in the window to help you decide what you want. The pizza has a very thin crust and once it comes out of the oven it is nice and crispy on the edges and just a tiny bit chewy when it needs to be. When you visit The Slice, you don’t order the pepperoni or the cheese or the sausage… you could and I’m sure they’re ok, but the reason everyone comes back are the«unusual» pizzas… like the Potato Pizza(it used to be called the Mr. Potatohead in my day)… slices of red potatoes(with skin on) and cheese and when they ask if you want some of the tzatziki sauce on it, you do. Trust me. You do. It is so delicious and yet so simple. The Gyro Pizza is delicious as well and one of my favourites. The spinach and feta is wonderful as well. They also used to do a Chicken Fajita pizza which was delicious as well! Not sure what you are seeing in the window? The owner might be a bit intimidating(maybe even a bit on the grumpy side), but don’t be afraid to ask. After you order your slice(s), you can order one or two to start with, they’ll stick them in the oven to heat them the rest of the way through while you grab a seat and wait for them to call you. They did a lunch and dinner special where you could get so many slices and a drink for a flat rate, which is good for those of us that order the pizzas with tons of toppings(the price of the pizza slices is determined by the toppings). If the owner is behind the counter, he’ll have you pay after you’ve finished, but if it is anyone else, they’ll probably make you pay beforehand. And… they have an RC fountain machine… and while RC is not my favourite carbonated beverage of choice, there is something about their RC that is really good and just goes with the pizza. Not to mention it is pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. And it is not just popular with the college students… there are lots of people that stop in and you should too!

Best pizza in Evansville. Great variety of toppings, thin crust. I think they truly care about the pizza they are making. Owner is a little grumpy, but don’t take it to heart. Sometimes he is quite nice. Be quick with your order and have cash in hand, it seems to improve his mood. Only wish is that they would cover up the insulation at the top of the oven hood. I always imagine little sprinkles of fiberglass and asbestos on my slice. But the pizza is so good, I go back, insulation and all.

The Slice is by far my favorite pizza place in Evansville, maybe anywhere! The ranch pizza is addicting and is easily my favorite(ranch dressing, cheese blend, & tomatoes), but the potato pizza is a close second. Ask for the tzatziki sauce on the potato pizza, it’s delicious! Go with the buffet option for the best price, it is offered all day long, and you can sample as many slices as you like. They only take cash, but they have an atm.
