No public parking during store hours? What is this lot used for then, didn’t make much sense to me so we moved on, you’d think a nice big lot right next to the store would be great for customers.

Admittedly, it has been awhile since I walked through the doors of Seattle Lighting Fixture Company on Hewitt. The first time I went I was a child. One thumb in mouth, the other hand holding my dads hand. Not too jazzed about it. Fast forward. I am older. Now I have NEED for a store such as Seattle Lighting. During a move, it was them that came to mind when I thought of my lighting needs. I will never forget walking into those doors again for the second time in all those years. I was fairly swept up in the nostalgia. And then I saw the clerk, and my reverie was sharply broken. Because of my appearance, at the time, I was never greeted, never spoken to, never helped.(I wore a black leather jacket with the names of punk bands spray painted here and there, a few spikes, a few studs… probably my scuffed combat boots also ensured my cold reception…) Instead of being helped, I was, for lack of a better word, STALKED throughout that store. A lamp caught my interest, and I carefully bent down to see the price. When I straightened up again, it was to catch the stern faced clerk dart behind an aisle. Yes, she assumed I was there to jack a chandelier. Thought I was going to just lift a heavy crystal chandelier, hide it under my «Clash» t-shirt, and walk out the door, it seemed. I had plenty of money. There was nothing in their inventory which was out of my price-range.(And I have to tell you, they are NOT reasonably priced, in fact, they are so overly priced I’m not really sure how they have managed to stay in business all these years. At any rate, I won’t go back. Being judged by my appearance was a very big turn-off. Things maybe different today, I don’t think that old hag could possibly still be lurking behind those lights… but I just have no desire to go back. :)

Why is the service so poor in Seattle Lighting? Over the past six years I’ve been to several – Lynnwood, Silverdale, Seattle, and right now, Everett. Not once have I been approached by a salesperson. Not once! And I’m a normal looking person. Just now I walked through the Everett store. Two workers were conferring over a computer; neither looked up when I walked past, looking at lights. Someone in the back office is chatting with a police officer, socializing. This must be company policy because it happens in every store.

Great service. I got all the help I needed to order my fan. The sales person knew a lot about what I needed for my high ceilings and to get the air moving. Very impressed. I special ordered my fan and got a call a couple weeks later when it was in. I ran in and just picked it up. No sweat! The only reason I can’t five star it is very selfish… I HATEDRIVINGTOEVERETT! Can that traffic get any worse?
