Great food and super friendly staff. I love the salsa bar and the Cheese steak burrito is excellent. I have been several times and will continue to go back.

Although we’re «locals» we just stumbled upon Señor California this evening and WHAT A TREAT! All four salsas we tried from the taco bar were wonderful ~ each unique and delicious in its own way. As for dinner, I ordered the street tacos and my boyfriend ordered the carne asada. The latter was good… but the the tacos, particularly the pork, were OUTSTANDING! We love Mexican food and are constantly on the hunt to find the real deal rather than Americanized fare. Señor California did not let us down. We’ll definitely be back and will have friends and family in tow!

This place is amazing, the food was delicious, the service was beyond expectation. I had the street tacos, my husband had the sizzling enchiladas. It was so much food, we waddled out of there. The flavor of the meat sets them above any other establishment by far. I predict they will be as busy as Ixtapa within the next year. I like that they are not putting in windows, to show us what? The parking lot? Rucker? The waiter told us they have a banquet room to accommodate 85 people, I wonder if they do catering too? Hmmm…

We really enjoy this place! We’ve been 5 or 6 times and have left happy every time. The food is great ~ LOVE the salsa bar and the unlimited chips. The portions are reasonable. The service is prompt, friendly, and attentive! We’ll keep returning!

All the house made salsa was delicious, though none of them were very spicy, I love super spicy sauce. I ordered the enchiladas and the wife got the al pastor street tacos. The food was outstanding. My gripe is about the drinks. I ordered a long island and was pleased. However my wife, who is a super lightweight and rarely drinks ordered two blue Hawaiians and wasn’t even buzzed. She’s very tipsy after two drinks so I know they were very light.

I was here for lunch. I would really like to give it 3.5 stars. Overall a good experience. I was greeted promptly and was served chips and 3 different salsas right way. Ordered chorizo con huevos. Then I tasted the salsas. I typically am not much of a fan for red or green salsa but WOW I loved the Barracho Verde and Barracho Rojo sauces. Best tasting I have ever had. The chorizo con huevos came promptly with the usual rice and beans. It tasted very good. My only negative as has been mentioned in other reviews was the portion size kind of small for a $ 10 lunch item. Otherwise I enjoyed it. the owner was very friendly and was right there when I needed something I will be back with wife and friends to try dinner.

We really wanted to like this place because we like to support local businesses. The food wasn’t good, but they tried to compensate for that with great service. I ordered the Asada burrito. It wasn’t tasty at all. The filling was mostly beans, and the steak wasn’t tender. Probably the worst burrito I’ve ever had. Not worth $ 16. My husband had the enchiladas, and they were just ok. The servers were very attentive, that’s the only good thing we can say. We will not be back. Sadly, this business might not survive for very long unless they change their recipes.

We came here yesterday with a group of friends and our 6 month old baby. First we ordering there special margarita, and then received chips and salsa. So far was ok. Then came our dinner. MY husbands looks at me and pulls out a piece of plastic from his mouth from his bite of food.DISGUSTING. BUT common human error! The manager wasn’t too apologetic, that concerned me. Then eh told us our drink and one plate or food would be taken off. Go to pay the bill and the waiter charged everything. When my husband brought it up, he was very quick to just give us cash to shut us up. In the meantime. they have a large sign just sitting there on top of two nails where they write things on. the waiter slightly touched it and it FELLONTOPOFMY6MOOLDBABY. UNREAL. The manager and waiter just stood there. I yelled”: DIDTHATSIGNJUSTFALLONMYBABY???” I WASSOMAD. After I yelled it again, and my husband was about to make an uproar, the manager is a very nonchalant voice asked me «is he ok» I looked at him and said he better be. Walked out the door immediately saying never again outloud. I do not recommend this place. My husband and I have now had upset stomach and bowel movements so unpleasant all day today. Not worth it, there are so many better places around here. They should actually mount signs though, that is ridiculous and unsafe, theyre lucky it didn’t hurt my son.

Really great fresh food, especially the enchiladas and the salsa bar is a nice touch. Chips are warm and plentiful and wait staff is very attentive and friendly. Not sure what all the fuss is regarding portion size… I had plenty of food and took some home. The tequila in the margaritas is generous and drinks are well-priced. If only there were a few windows, this spot would be perfect.

Wow for starters fresh warm tortilla chips with no less than 5 different salsas. Free refills at the fresh salsa bar. Luncheon menu all week great delicious value meals. All you Mexican favorites plus more. Margaritas, wine, martinis, tequila, cervesa, coffee drinks and soft drinks. I had the Sangria best I have had in Everett. I had. #17. Hot and sizzling. Two other luncheon selections and all agreed it was very tasty.

I never write reviews on Unilocal because I am lazy. But this food is out of this world. The Mexican shrimp cocktail blew my mind, shrimp, avocado, Pico de gallo! So tasty. Also, this place doesn’t smell like Chinese food like those other reviewers said, and if it did who cares! Chinese food is also delicious. Not as good as this place I would give it ten stars of I could.

My experience is very similar to what Ariel said below, although I didn’t read the review before going. This place is mere blocks from my house and I wanted to like it. My first impression was that it still smelled of greasy Chinese food when we walked in. The interior paint and décor looked like they had just plucked the old Chinese décor out and left only the dull gray walls. I think there were a couple sombreros somewhere… Service was attentive and friendly. It was obviously our server’s first server job and he tried hard– almost too hard– but I can’t fault him for that. If the food were better I would probably ask to sit in his section just to see him get better over time. The food portions were seriously like half-sized compared to other restaurants. I ordered the Pollo Santa Cruz and it was a small chicken breast portion, smashed absolutely flat, swimming in a puddle of watery, artificial-tasting cheese sauce. There was about a half cup each of over-cooked, bland rice and a half cup of beans with a few shreds of barely melted cheese on top. Plus, yes, about a tablespoon each of guacamole and sour cream. My friend ordered a large burrito so that he would have some for lunch the next day. Let’s just say he didn’t get a to go box. The nachos caused me to ask«Where’s the cheese?» and had something that tasted not-so-fresh, like the avocados had started to turn or something. We just covered them in one of the salsas from the Salsa Bar. Speaking of that there were four salsas at the Salsa Bar. Two of them tasted like watery catsup, but the two creamier ones were better. The Borracha Rosa was good, but the Borracha Verde was excellent– in fact it was the highlight of our meal. We had the burrito, the Pollo dish, nachos and two sodas. With our $ 8 coupon it came to $ 42. My pollo dish was $ 15.95 and when my friend and I asked each other what we thought it SHOULD cost we were both in the $ 7 – 8 range. $ 15.95 is not outrageous for a good Mexican dish, but this was far from good. With so many other good Mexican restaurants in the area I will not be back. If you want consistently excellent service and food try Los Potrillos which is a couple miles south of here. Or for a quick, excellent, home-made Mexican fast food try Memos only a half mile or so south.

Don’t go here. There are MUCHMUCH better Mexican food places than this in Everett. We came in on a Saturday night, sat in the bar. The place was not busy. Waitress forgot our order, then entered it incorrectly after coming back to take it again. I was finished with my meal before the correction to my boyfriend’s was made(he shared with me until they FINALLY fixed his order). Chicken was dry, beef was too greasy. The«salsa bar» is a joke — with 4 tasteless options. During our time there, one patron complained to the owner about the service and food and walked out without paying… it’s THAT bad.

New place so I had to give it a try. I agree with another review… it still smells like chinese food when you open the door into the lobby :-) Used to have great chinese food here back in the day. The ones that tried after the original never were good. Señor California has great food and very attentive staff. Tortilla soup was great as was the Shrimp Buritto. I will return. The salsa bar was interesting and I liked the avocado one.

Love this place! The people are so inviting, and the food was wonderful! I had Señor Favorite Carne Asada and Camarones. I took a few bites before I snapped a pic, I couldn’t help it! The carne asada was very tender you could cut it with a fork, even tho they give you a steak knife. The shrimp was just right and not over done. I also love the fresh salsa bar! With so many different flavors to try, it was hard to pick a favorite! I also had the margarita special(ok I had two) they were perfect. I’m not a big fan of Mexican food, but this will be my to go place when the craving strikes!

Well, we wanted to like it. I feel bad, because the waiter was so incredibly attentive and kind, and the fajita was quite tasty. But, you walk in and it still smells like Chinese food, since it was a Chinese restaurant for as long as I can remember. So the first impression isn’t good. And the place still needs windows. Please, someone knock out some of that awful cinderblock wall and put some in; it would do wonders for the aesthetics. But the thing is, the portions are insanely small. Like, a joke, insulting, even. They are so tiny it’s WEIRD. The chip basket is half-size. The veggie fajita was $ 15.50 and the platter and its contents were about half the usual size, and the accompanying rice and beans were, I don’t know, maaaybe a quarter cup each? And no exaggeration, the guac and sour cream were each a tablespoon at the most. It was just bizarre. The margarita was so-so, but at least normally sized. There were 4 salsas at the salsa bar, the two reds were both incredibly watery; one too sweet, the other tasted canned or almost ketchup-y. Hopefully it was a fluke and they were running low and rationing. But unfortunately we won’t be back to find out. Overall a total disappointment. But, it can be mostly remedied with size-appropriate prices, or bigger portions.

Good service, good chips and salsa. Great start. My only complaint was that I asked if the taco shells were fried in the kitchen or out of a box. She said they were made there, but they’re Taco Bell style. Not like what mom made… I ordered a combo plate. The taco was okay, the chicken enchilada good, and tamale above average for a restaurant. It had lots of masa and little meat, but the masa was flavorful and it had enchilada sauce, so I approve. I would recommend this spot and wish them good luck. PS: try the verde borracha at the salsa bar. Fresh chili with sour cream. Yum!

There’s a new policia in town, at least when it comes to Mexican restaurants in Everett, and despite the voluminous competition of Mexican food in the area, this is better than average. I saw the«open» sign so I popped in for lunch. The inside is standard mexican accoutrements, but comfortable. The outside building could probably use a new paint job but provides lots of free parking in the lot. The waitress immediately seated me and brought me some chips with bean dip. The chips were great, but I especially like it when they are warmed, which these were not, but they were fresh. A unique aspect to this restaurant is the amazing salsa bar, which you help yourself to. They had five kinds, and all were delicious. There’s a spicy red salsa, a mild red salsa, a baracha verde(spicy), baracha roja(spicier) and an avocado salsa(extra spicy). The baracha salsas are creamy and wonderful. The avocado salsa is like a watered down guacamole and very good. I ordered a mini-margarita($ 3.99) and the lunch combo #1, the«Speedy Gonzales enchilada and taco»($ 7.75). Don’t let the«mini» in mini-margarita fool you. It’s not big, a typical regular size but it packed a nice punch of tequila. For some reason, the to-go menu states«enchiladas» implying more than one enchilada, but I only expected one enchilada and one taco for the lunch combo. For each, you get your choice of filling with ground beef, chicken, picadillo, or cheese. I ordered the cheese enchilada and picadillo taco. The cheese enchilada was soft and tender with a dark red(almost brown) enchilada sauce. My only complaint is I wish it had more cheese and perhaps some onion. The taco was full of picadillo that was like a homemade pot roast, topped with a bunch of cheese. It was mild in spice, and lacked tomato and lettuce, but was filling and delicious. The tortilla wasn’t anything special but was fresh. I’m not sure if it was homemade or not. This was accompanied by a good portion of beans and rice. The dish was not spicy enough for me, so I used the trusty salsa bar which added just the right amount and type of flavor and spice I was looking for. The prices are reasonable, but I do think the burritos are a bit overpriced. I didn’t get one of those, though, so I can’t really say if it’s worth the price or not. The menu items are cleverly named, following the California/Mexicana theme. The menu is fairly typical with the addition of larger combos and a few other surprises in the specialties. The dinner«Señor Combo» #19 offers an old fashioned chile relleno, enchilada, taco, and two taquitos all for $ 14.50. An example of one of the surprises is a «Tequila Fajita» with FOUR meats(Steak, chicken, prawns AND tilapia) with a shot if tequila($ 20.95)! I’m eyeing that one for next time. All in all, a nice experience. Feel free to drink and eat your heart out and go loco at the salsa bar!
