Trash. I was there about 10 feet away from a guy who pulled out a gun and began running down the street shooting at people. I hated it before then. The staff was just rude, drinks are over priced, food was ok, I didn’t understand the appeal of the place at all.

I pretty much avoid this place at all costs. I have been reeled in for a birthday or girls night out but if I had my choice it’s a no go. It is a popular hang out for the Navy Guys who are in town looking to score so if your a slutty chick GOONIN! Otherwise married or ladies in relationships that love their man STAYAWAY! They over serve their patrons so its typical for the cops to come out due to fights or over drunk people yelling on the sidewalks. I have been denied access back in after stepping out to smoke on numerous occasions because someone got into a fight and a bloody battered drunk was lying in the main hallway. The stairs going outside from the upstairs is a death trap! If you don’t fall yourself from those cute pair of heels then the girl behind you knocks you down and she tumbles down the stairs. It always seems like it might be fun(dancing and the style of music-basically the only bar in dt Everett with that«type») but once you’re there if you’re not drunk it’s boring, awkward, and down right disturbing. I’d much rather go over to Bar MYX a few blocks away to dance and not get hit on by Navy Men. Overall, please avoid this place if you want to have a non-dramatic night.

Ahh Tailgaters, how I love your trashy ways! Coming to this bar you are guaranteed at least 1 of 3 things: DUI, fights, sluts. If you’re really lucky, you get all 3! I have to admit, I don’t hate this place. Something about it reels me in about once a month and I find myself having a good time here. There are 2 floors, which can be deceiving when you first walk in. The upstairs is usually packed with girls(and guys) trying to test their skills on the disease ridden stripper pole that sits on the dance floor, while the downstairs tends to be a bit more mellow. That’s where you’ll find me. The bartenders over serve, which to most, would seem like a great thing but for the smart people, it leads to fights, DUI’s and a nasty hangover. If it’s not you getting one of those, then some annoying dickhead around you IS. All in all, Tailgaters is very entertaining and there is always someone that you and your friends can sit and laugh at. Give it a try.

This place is really like two separate bars. Upstairs is dance-clubish, they typically play a lot of hip-hop, and the crowd reflects that. Lots of swagger and testosterone competing for the attention of the ladies. Since downtown Everett isn’t exactly crawling with dance clubs, this place packs out on the weekends. Last time I was up there, a couple of wannabe gangstas got in a fight, I actually got jostled around a bit just sitting at a table with my date. Not cool(!). Unlike most bars fights, in which bouncers show up in seconds to break it up, this thing went on for a good minute, finally being broken up by other patrons. If they had any security staff whatsoever, they were apparently out back sleeping… and this is a crowd that NEEDS plenty of security. I won’t be surprised when this place makes the news with a stabbing or shooting. I suppose if I was 23 and wanted to score some Everett skank, I’d slap on my saggy-ass pants and doo-rag, douse myself with half a bottle of P-Diddy cologne, head down there and get my ho-hos on. Downstairs is totally different. More of a sports-bar atmosphere, with a hip, urbane Martini bar style décor. Gangsta free. The bar itself has an ice strip running the length of it, to set your drink on. Nice big TVs, well placed. Good selection of drafts, and they usually have a domestic macro on special, cheap. Last time I was in, it was a pint of Busch Light for $ 1. Not my thing, but if you like macrobrews it could be a cheap night for ya. The friend I was with hates the taste of beer, so naturally he’s a Bud Light man. When the server told him about the Busch Light for a buck deal, he made a face and shook his head no, and then paid $ 4 for a pint of Bud Light. As he’s walking away, the barkeep looks at me, shrugs, and says«what’s the diff ?», I replied«apparently three bucks !!» and we had a good laugh. Anyway, the menu is limited to burgers and sandwiches, but the food here is surprisingly good. I’m not big into french fries, but theirs are freshly hand cut, well cooked, and served with a delicious chipotle dipping sauce. Prices are very reasonable, in the 6 – 8 dollar range. The servers vary, like anyplace. The only time I ever had really bad service here was when a cute young lady was bartending, and of course was texting most of the time, and only interested in refilling the drinks of her«fan club»… three young bucks at the end of the bar, panting for her favors. Most of the time, it’s an older guy(owner?), and he is on the ball and friendly. Not a bad place to pre-funk if you are hitting the Everett Events Center(Comcast Arena, whatever), although parking is extremely limited here… even on non-event nights. There are maybe three spaces in front, otherwise you are parking a ways away and walking. On a night with an event, parking anywhere near this place can be almost impossible. Toss that factor in with the sausagefest /fight club upstairs on the weekends, and I’ll usually opt for The Irishmen up on Colby, or even Turner’s down the street, although parking at those places can be dicey as well on an event night.

I also have to agree with Rachel the food was not bad it just lacked any soul. The service was not very good and they never had the beers on their menu. I was hoping things would change after Joel sold out but it did not happen. I live within walking distance of the place and never go there. Unremarkable pretty much sums it all up.

«What’s that?» says I, looking at the photo mounted on the wall. «Comcast Arena!» says R. «World-famous landmark!» says T. And so Tailgater Joe’s gets high marks for geographical groundedness. Low marks, though, for information provision, as what R attempted to order from the beer list was not in fact to be found on the premises, and the server said the list ought really to be thrown away. Otherwise unremarkable.
