I went to Curves for six years when I was in my 20s. The Ewing location was in Suburban Square and us ladies were like a tight knit family. I remember the owner Julie B. asking me how I was doing whenever she saw me. Once or twice she even checked my blood pressure without me knowing why it’s like she noticed that I wasn’t working out as hard as I usually did. It’s nice thinking back about this isolated experience I had that she cared enough about ‘me’ to check my blood pressure to see if I was okay enough to workout that day or week! The entire Curves workout is 30 minutes then you stretch and then you’re done. Last summer I did Zumba on the Curves circuit and saw real noticeable changes in the shape of my body. That made me so much more confident in my body image to be honest with y’all. A Zumba instructor I’ll never forget encouraged me to do some walking even if just for 10 or 15 minutes most days just to make sure I do something if I could not get to Curves that didn’t mean I should not be active. I owe her one for that. I have fond memories of Curves those years I was a member. I went three times a week, now I mostly am doing walking and soon to start doing MamaYoga for Wellness where on Saturdays I’ll take a 45-minute classes coming in August.
