Extremely disappointed. New Year’s Eve afternoon take-out 12÷31÷15. Our family ordered $ 100 worth of food today. It was terrible! Both General tso’s Chicken & Sesame Chicken had very pink –Raw Chicken. I could understand the mistake — a busy day I’m sure. I called to inform them, so they would not make the same mistake for other customers. I would want to know, if it was me. I was only told ‘sorry about that’ with a ‘no-care’ attitude. No «thank you for letting us know– so we can fix it». I don’t think the girl I spoke to had any intention on telling anyone in the kitchen to fix it. I hope no one gets sick! The rest of our food was pre-made and absolutely terrible. I understand this is one of their busier days, however, no excuse for it to be disgusting. Our vegetable lomein was just noodles with one mushroom and a couple green pieces. We didn’t receive any broccoli or white rice in either chicken dish, nor fortune cookies, no extras. I couldn’t even eat the house rice. It was just gross. Most of the food was instantly tossed in trash. We have gone to Szechuan Taste our entire lives. They have gone WAY downhill in my opinion. We have continued to order from them, hoping they would improve, however, today was the absolute last straw. No more business from us. Anyone know of a better Chinese restaurant nearby Exeter? I’m sad, because I really used to enjoy their food. BTW, is it true they don’t use any MSG in their restaurant? That’s what they told me.

This is my all time favorite Chinese restaurant! I have been coming here for years to eat in and carry out and I am always so happy with my meal! I love the cold sesame noodles they have here,(not many places carry them) which are so delicious! Definitely recommend Szechuan Taste!

this restaurant is literally my life. I like the authentic cuisine as well as the variety of races that work to serve me my dishes. Sometimes, a Hispanic man asks me for soup, and I always say«si, egg drop por favor». When the white man come, I say, yea partner. This variety of people as well as the delectable cuisine offers not just excellent food but a chance to exercise my multi cultural abilities! Arigato!

I don’t eat Chinese often but this is the only place I’ll go to on the seacoast. The food is good and the staff are very friendly. The owner always stops by to see how we like everything. The chicken wings are really good here and they are very child friendly.

This is the best Chinese restaurant i have ever visited. The staff is wonderful and the owner is super nice. I really like this place and the pricing is a little on the cheap side compared to the quality.

Excellent Sunday buffet. This is the best Chinese restaurant I have tried in the NH sea coast region.

If you’re looking for a place in Exeter to order chinese food this is the WORST option. The general tsos and sesame chicken are gummy and hard to eat. The meat inside of the dumplings is full of gristle and fat making them literally inedible. For the price the food is terrible and you’d be better off going to Penang for cheaper and better quality food. I cannot emphasize enough how awful the food is and the service isn’t great either.

The food here was pretty good. I liked it and I normally am not much into Asian food. The rice was really good and the lo me in was very good as well Although the inside looked like a finished basement I would still go back.

This is an American Chinese restaurant. Not an ounce of authenticity and zero real Szechuan dishes. I lived in China for 10 years and yet to find an authentic Chinese restaurant north of Boston. Very sad

Everything is terrific here. Decent size portions. All very fresh! The appetizers were very good and not greasy at all including the ribs. Mai tai was very nice. Service is excellent. The place is very clean including the bathrooms.

1 star is generous. The food was so blah, the meats were just ok. It literally tasted like Chinese food from a can. The shrimp were frozen, overcooked or more likey, both? There is no quality control here.

Takeout super quick. Complicated order was filled perfectly. General Tso chicken, hot and sour soup, chicken with cashews all top notch. BBQ spareribs were just okay. A bit dry and flavorless. Good prices.

Good, cheap and friendly! Americanized Chinese food, but yummy! Lunch specials are great and run through Saturdays. Buffet option on Sunday. These guys deliver too. We usually opt for cashew chicken(no celery!) and moo goo gai pan. Love the hot and sour soup. If you eat in, you always get hot tea, ice water and fried chip things with sour sauce. We add mustard. We always leave satisfied and come back for more. We have traveled in SE Asia and in China. This is not that kind of cuisine. If you want a more authentic experience, visit Sichuan Gourmet in Framingham, MA.

I like this place! While I was in Downtown Exeter, I stopped in at Szechuan Taste for lunch takeout. They offer 30 Business Luncheon Specials(served Mon-Sat until 3PM) with pork fried rice and chicken wing, and soup(dine-in only), priced $ 5.75-$ 6.95. A Sunday Buffet is served 12PM-3PM. I went with the L30 Shrimp Lo Mein($ 5.95), which was ready to go in about 10 minutes after ordering and paying. The portion of food was generous and plentiful. The two fried chicken wings with light & crisp on the outside and tender juicy meat inside. The pork fried rice had a soft fluffy texture with a mix of onions, sprouts and fluffy egg. The lo mein dish had scallions, carrots, cabbage, tender shrimp(some cleaned) tossed with firm noodles, slightly greasy. The food was sold good and very tasty! Sure to return to Szechuan Taste of Exeter again for lunch!

I had a chance to give this place a try for dinner during a recent visit to Exeter. Since I am a huge fan of Sichuan cuisine I had to try their food. I went with a group of guys so we ordered a few appetizers. The pupu platter was huge and came with five or six different items from chopped chinese bbq pork to bacon wrapped scallops. I was really disappointed from not being able to find any sichuan dishes on their menu. It was all pretty much cantonese food and not a single spicy sichuan item at all. Their food was just so-so chinese food you can get at any mall chinese food stall and nothing special about it. I don’t even think these guys know what a flower pepper is and they call their restaurant Szechuan Taste. I will pass by this place when I am in Exeter again.

I came here for lunch during the week. I ordered the seasame chicken, egg drop soup and egg roll. I didnt really like any of them. The sauce on the chicken was almost bright red, never seen this before. The soup was boring and the egg roll, I couldnt get through it. The workers were prepping vegetables on the same table they were doing paper work on which I found odd.

I have driven by this place many times and did takeout a few years ago. Before Unilocal or before I knew about Unilocal… I wanted to baseline my 2 other Chinese restaurant reviews so I orders the same items and I will tell you that they were on par. I think that out of the other 2 this would sit right in the middle. I ordered: Hot and Sour Soup which was still hot when I got home. It had very nice flavor and color and was not overwhelming in palette heat. Chicken with Broccoli with non spicy brown sauce. This dish was pretty good but the sauce was rather thin and didn’t really hold to the chicken therefore the chicken didn’t have a ton of flavor but the broccoli was very good. Lemon Chicken. The chicken was very fried and a dark color. They gave me a pint size container of the lemon sauce which was excellent so that the dish was not soggy when I got home. More than enough sauce for sure. The flavor was above average although I would have preferred the chicken to have been less fried(dark). I was happy to see that they gave me the typical bag with soy sauce, duck sauce a few fortune cookies but noodles to go in the soup. This is something that I have not found in MA or NH since living in NY and it was a welcomed surprise. Another surprise was that I got a LARGE container of white rice for free with one of the entrees. Most Chinese restaurants these days charge you for white rice and you only get a very small container. I used the rice to soak up the sauce from the chicken and broccoli and that was like a whole dish be itself. I would order out from here again but probably would not eat in. The décor is dark and outdated in my opinion and eating Chinese in front of the TV is perfect in my opinion unless you are a drinker and need your Scorpion Bowl or Mei Ti.
